"You're in love with this idiot, right, Hinata?" Sakusa said as he gestured towards Atsumu.
Hinata instantly blushed. "Yeah." He knew he was kinda obvious about his feelings for Atsumu, but hadn't realised that he had been so obvious that even Sakusa had taken notice.
"W-wait… W-what?" Atsumu stuttered. He must have blacked out for a moment because surely there was no way Hinata just admitted to being in love with him.
Hinata awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck. "I know you don't feel the same way, Atsumu-san, so don't feel like you have to say anything." It had been something Hinata had come to terms with not long after he realised his feelings for the setter.
Sakusa narrowed his eyes at Atsumu. "You hear that, Miya?" He didn't want to get involved in his teammates' personal lives, but Sakusa couldn't take it anymore when it became clear to him that they genuinely believed the other didn't feel the same way.
Atsumu's voice was quiet when he asked, "This isn't a prank, right?" Because if it was a prank, his heart was going to break, and he didn't think he'd be able to recover from it.
Hinata tilted his head to the side, confused. "Why would I prank you about something like this, Atsumu-san?" He didn't think it was funny to mess with anyone's feelings like that, especially when it came to love.
Atsumu grabbed onto Hinata's hands and pleaded, "Please go out with me, Shouyou-kun."
"Don't feel like you have to, Atsumu-san. I won't make it awkward for you or the team. I made peace months ago with the fact you'd never love me back," he explained as he forced himself to smile. Not trying to think about how warm Atsumu's hands felt in his.
Sakusa pinched the bridge of his nose from frustration. "Hopeless," he muttered under his breath. He servilely underestimated how dumb Hinata could be.
"I've been in love with ya since I was seventeen, Shouyou-kun," Atsumu confessed. Ever since their first match back at nationals, no one else had entered his heart.
Hinata stared at Atsumu, lost for words. Seventeen? Hinata felt like his soul had left his body. That would mean Atsumu has been in love with him for the last five years. Why did he never tell him?
"If ya don't believe me, ask Samu." Osamu had to listen to his many rambles about Hinata back when they were teenagers, to the point his twin threatened to smother him with a pillow if he didn't shut up. Since Hinata came back from Brazil and joined the team, did Atsumu spend many nights at Osamu's restaurant freaking out? Yes. Did Osamu threaten to smother him with a pillow again if he didn't shut up? Yes. His dream of setting for Hinata had come true. On top of that, Atsumu hadn't thought it was possible, but he ended up falling harder for Hinata.
"Now that you are both on the same page, do us all a favour and go on a date or something," Sakusa advised. He honestly didn't care what they did once he no longer had to watch them pine after one another.
"Really? You want to go on a date with me, Atsumu-san?" Hinata was still having a hard time believing what he was hearing was true. He thought he'd only hear those words in his dreams.
Sakusa felt like he was about to lose his patience. Atsumu just admitted to being in love with him, and Hinata still had to question whether the setter wanted to go out with him. Why were his teammates so stupid?
Atsumu couldn't hold back from hugging Hinata. "More than anythin'," he expressed. He had so many dreams about taking Hinata out on a date and was ecstatic that it was about to become a reality.
Hinata felt like his heart was going to burst from happiness. He hugged Atsumu back, "I love to go on a date with you."
"Aren't they adorable?" Bokuto cheered at the new couple. He was over the moon about his disciple, and Atsumu finally got together. Bokuto made a note to buy Sakusa a drink on their next night out for being the reason it happened.
"Don't ruin the moment, Bokuto," Meian warned, quietly. They didn't want to do anything that could possibly send Hinata or Atsumu running away from embarrassment.
Sakusa took his leave, satisfied with the knowledge he would no longer have to watch Atsumu and Hinata secretly pine after each other. Not knowing that a gushing Atsumu was going to be way worse.
