Summary
When Katsuki receives a letter from a lawyer informing him of his grandfather’s death, he couldn’t help but feel guilt over not visiting him during the end of his life. He’d spent his summers as a child growing up on the farm as an escape from his parents. Mostly his mother. Katsuki had never really embraced his grandfather’s farmer lifestyle, though even he had to admit he was a better person for having gone through the character building.
The letter came just as life in the big city was getting a bit too hard for Katsuki to handle. Between his long-time crush and work partner suddenly getting hurt on his watch, followed by several failed busts in a row.
Death comes with inheritance though. His grandfather had never been rich in anything other than experiences. He did however, own 40 acres of land in the rural Midwest. Hundreds of miles away from the city where Katsuki had made a name for himself as a detective. Hundreds of miles away from Izuku.
The choice was Katsuki’s. He could sell the land to continue paying for his ridiculously expensive apartment in the city where he could continue to break his neck day and night for a job where, honestly, his superiors were a little sick of his attitude…
