“You’re thinking so hard I can hear the gears moving,” Caelus murmurs, glancing up at Dan Heng, who blinks a few times before his eyes refocus and he looks down at Caelus. “Credit for your thoughts?”
Dan Heng’s absent hum in return is nice, reminiscent of the way his chest sometimes rumbles with a purr; something that’s not very common, and something that hasn’t happened once on Amphoreus. Not like Caelus can blame him, this place doesn’t feel very safe at all, unstable down to the core even if he can’t sense a stellaron here. Caelus’s eyes close partway when Dan Heng presses a kiss against his forehead, a smile twitching over his lips at the casual affection before it falls again.
“On the Xianzhou,” Dan Heng begins, and Caelus notes how, oddly, a spark of anger doesn’t drift between his ribcage the same way it always has when hearing the name. Something is very, very out of sorts. “Did anyone tell you about jade pendants?”
