Away from everything he held dear.
It still felt unreal. Like it was just a dream he would wake up from.
He felt empty inside, hollowed out by the loss and the sudden change in his life. The plushie was the only thing that felt real, the only thing that brought a small measure of comfort in this cold, unfamiliar room. He buried his face in it, closing his eyes, squeezing the plushie tight.
His chest felt heavy, like there was an invisible weight pressing down on him, like there were hands around his neck, choking him.
And from now on, he will continue to live... without his family.
When he grows up it would be... without his family.
And it was all his fault.
