Summary
Yeonji hears the story of Chilseok when she is six years old and loves it almost as much as she hates it.
Everyone else calls it romantic. The cowherd and the weaver girl, separated by the Silver River, allowed to meet once a year when magpies and crows build a bridge across the sky. Yeonji thinks it is cruel. To her, the story has always been about all the nights the lovers spend apart.
At nineteen, on a warm August evening, she meets Soomin at a pojangmacha beneath that same summer sky.
Twelve years later, every important turn in their love story has happened on Chilseok. First date. First kiss. Proposal. Wedding. It is their night, their mythology, their private joke written in stars, their life built around an old fairy tale.
