Work Header

Hang on in there baby, hang on in there darling I'm gonna give you more than you ever dreamed possible

Summary:

Twitter/NGL prompt:

would you be up to writing chenfordnapped but lucy and tim annoy captors by flirting to the point of giving up

Notes:

This turned out way more soft and sentimental. It was supposed to be crack and fluff. It turned out more emotional and I tried to make it humorous because those goons having to listen to Chenford flirt is amusing to me.

Enjoy! 🩵🤍

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Tim discovers that she’s on the other side of the wall first. He hears her moving around in what he suspects is her own cell.

He’s not chained down and he suspects she isn’t either. But they are trapped. In a small cell with no windows. It’s tiny, there’s a bed but it’s hard and quite honestly sleeping on the floor is better. He’s used to that. There’s a tiny toilet or what he suspects is a toilet. And a sink. He has used the toilet once.

He has heard the water running in Lucy’s cell so he suspects she has used it to. There’s the door and occasionally it’s opened. But he’s blocked from exiting it.

He just wants Lucy. He just wants to hold her, tell her it’s going to be okay. He just wants to hear her voice.

He sighs and slumps against the wall. He’s not sure how long he’s been in here. The last thing he remembers is grabbing onto Lucy’s finger, holding on to her until he lost consciousness.

He wonders if anyone has even realized they were gone. He’s wonders if maybe they thought they ran off to get married.

Which didn’t seem like a bad idea.

“Day 5,” he hears a voice through the wall. He knows who it is instantly. The only person it could be and the only person he wants to hear. “I think. I will now appreciate Tim’s very minimalist bathroom.”

“Hey!” He says out loud and it’s not what he wants to say but—

“Tim?”

“Lucy?” He says. “What’s wrong with my bathroom? Our bathroom. You like it.”

“I like the extra big shower.” Lucy says. “It’s just boring otherwise.” Tim rolls his eyes and maybe he did splurge on the shower. His old one had been a bit of a problem and he replaced it before Lucy moved in. However they were still in that weird limbo where they were hooking up and not together. But almost together.

But yes he bought it with Lucy in mind and they had made good use out of it.

Very good use.

“It’s a bathroom.” He says drily. “You do your business and get out.”

“Or purposely take extra long showers so I will join.” Lucy says. Tim rolls his eyes and shifts on the floor.

“I do what I have to do.” He says.

“And almost make us late to work.” Lucy shoots back. Tim laughs a little and lays his head against the wall.

“Yeah that was a fun one to explain.” Tim mutters.

“My point about the bathroom is that I appreciate yours now. This toilet is…”

“Yeah I know.”

“Why are we here?” Lucy asks. “Is this all Everett?” Tim closes his eyes and runs his hand down his face.

Payback is a bitch.

“It seems to be.” Tim says. “Or he’s working someone from the inside.”

“The woman said payback is a bitch. Payback for what?” Lucy asks.

“Me. This is about me Lucy. Not you. You are here because you—”

“I mean something to you.” Lucy finishes for him. And yes, that is part of it but she’s collateral damage. They took her because they didn’t want any witnesses. They were keeping her because well they didn’t want to be found. Everett was controlling this from inside out and he’s not sure who he could trust.

“Just because you turned down $10 million dollars because you wanted to keep your integrity?” Lucy asks.

“Apparently so.”

“Because you are a man of honor and wouldn’t do anything to mess up your life or what you stand for?” Lucy asks.

“Everett is not any of those things Luce.” Tim says. “And you don’t know everything about me.”

She knows most things about him. The important things. He bared his soul to her the morning they got back together.

“I know the man I agreed to marry. That’s you and I know he would put his life on the line for those you love.” Lucy says and her words hit hard.

I know the man I agreed to marry.

That’s right they were engaged.

“That’s right you did agree to marry me.” Tim says trying to keep his voice light. “Silly you.”

“No. It was the easiest answer I have ever given.” Lucy says. “I want to marry you.”

“Good.” Tim says. “I was nervous.”

“I couldn’t tell,” Lucy says. “I mean you have been acting weird but it’s you.”

“Hey!”

“I’m just saying. I had no idea what was about to happen and you surprise me. You surprise me everyday.” Lucy says. Tim smiles at that.

“Am I better at communicating?” He asks. He hears a soft tap on the wall. Like she wants to get to him, to touch him.

“Yes.”

“I’m going to be even better when we are married.” Tim vows. “You have no idea what’s coming your way.”

“Damn babe.” Lucy says and he can picture her smiling. “You sure do know a way to girl’s heart.”

Tim’s lip twitches into a smile. Lucy certainty wormed her way into his heart and he wouldn’t have it any other way.

He gets to marry her.

Have her for the rest of his life.

For better or for worse.

If they ever got out of her of course.

No he couldn’t think of it that way. He had to believe they would get out of here. Wherever it was.

If he lost hope—

“You know if we hadn’t been drugged and kidnapped.” He says he stretches his legs out. “I would have brought you home and I would have kept you in bed all night long.”

“Mmm.” Lucy hums. “What else would you have done?”

“I would have laid you out on the bed and—” He continues and he hears Lucy’s soft noises. The ones she makes in bed. Only for him.

It’s risky talking like this especially when their captors probably didn’t intend on the talking. But he doesn’t care. If he can’t have his fiancée next to him, then on the other side of the wall was good enough.

“I would have my mouth everywhere.” He says. “Everywhere.” He emphasizes it like she needs to know even though she knows him. She knows how he works, what makes him tick especially when it came to them in bed.

“You better.” She says. “I would make sure you were satisfied too.”

“I know.” Tim says. God, he wishes he could at least see her. He has memorized every single part of Lucy. From the way her face would light up in a smile to the she moves when he is inside of her to the way her skin feels against his.

“God Lucy.” He says. “This is not how I thought we would be celebrating our engagement.”

“I know.” She says. “Just think when we—when we get out it will be even better. You know time apart makes the heart grow fonder.”

“I just want you next to me.” Tim says and he pauses a little. He’s almost afraid to ask this. “Do—do you still have your ring?”

“Yes.”

“They didn’t take it?” Tim asks.

“Not yet. They will have to pry it from my cold dead hands.” Lucy says.

“Not dead.” Tim says and he knows she’s joking but the thought of her dead—

“They will have to— you get what I’m saying. I’m not taking it off.” Lucy says. Tim sighs and closes his eyes.

“The couple who had the ring before, they were together for over 50 years.” Tim says. “I want that for us. I want to spend my life with you and I want to have a family with you. We can’t do that if we are separated.”

“At least I know you are okay.” Lucy says. “If we weren’t talking I think we would go a little crazy.”

“Me too.” Tim says and he looks around the room. He wonders if they are listening to them. He hopes so. He hopes they are hearing every word.

“Tim?”

“Yeah?” He asks.

“What’s going to happen if we don’t get out?” Lucy asks. “What happens if—”

“We will.”

“No you won’t.” A voice says. Tim looks up startled as the door opens and a man appears. “I think we should move you two so you will shut up!”

“Not going to happen.” Lucy says. Tim laughs a little. “The longer you keep us apart the worse it will get for you. Right Tim?”

“Yes.” Tim says. He’s pleased to know the captors were hearing them flirt and a little more. He’s glad it’s driving them crazy.

Good.

“Just keep it down won’t you.” The man says. He slams the door shut and Tim slumps against the wall.

He just wants to get out of here.

***

“How did people not know we were together?” Lucy asks. Tim sits up a little. “We didn’t really hide it.”

“I think we did a good job.” Tim says although he knows Lucy is right. They really were obvious the first time around, and once it was out he didn’t hide it. He was falling for Lucy then and he was in love with her. He was even more in love with her now.

“Oh babe. It’s cute that you think that.” Lucy says. Tim scoffs and closes his eyes. “We were even obvious when we weren’t together. I mean no one even realized on April Fool’s.

Except Celina.”

“What?”

“She kind of figured out—she told me I was glowing.” Lucy says. “You know—”

“Sex with me makes you glow?” Tim asks and he’s proud. Lucy would probably hit him if she could see his face.

“Among other things.” Lucy says. “Wipe that smirk off your face.”

“How—”

“I know you Tim. I know you are proud.” She says but she sound amused. Tim rolls his eyes.

“How can I not be?” Tim asks. “I get you for the rest of my life.”

“Do you think we are making them mad?” Lucy asks. “They told us to shut up.”

“I’m not going to stop talking because some thugs don’t want us to flirt.” Tim says. The door flies open and the man stands at the door.

“I told you to shut up.” He says. Tim stands up and walks towards the man. He can’t escape.

“Tim.” Lucy warns through the wall. “Take a breath.” But Tim advances towards the man.

“Let me see her.” He says. “I just need to know she’s not hurt—she’s stubborn she won’t tell me.”

“Hey!” Lucy says. But it’s closer and he has a feeling she’s at the door too. “I’m fine Tim.”

“Please.” Tim says. “If we are together you won’t have to listen to us.”

“But we will watch you.” The man says making a face. “No.” He slams the door and Tim hits it in frustration.

“Damnit.”

“Tim sit down.” Lucy says. “Take a breath.” Tim does as she says and lays his head against the wall.

“You are okay?”

“I’m tired, exhausted, frustrated and I want my fiancé by my side not talking to him through a wall.” Lucy says. “But I’m not hurt. I promise babe.”

“Okay.” Tim says and he’s sure he would go crazy if she was hurt. He would be out of his mind, and the fact he can’t even touch her.

“You know I said I didn’t want to spend anymore nights without you. This isn’t what I meant.” Tim says.

“I know Tim.” Lucy says. “And we aren’t really—we are together just not together.”

“It’s not good enough.” Tim says. He thinks of something Lucy said the other day. It would be so much better when they were back together and out of here.

“You know I am glad I’m not alone this time.” Lucy says and it’s almost casual. “At least I have you. Not that I ever wanted you to be kidnapped.”

“Lucy—”

“I dreamed about our wedding last night. It was small and private. But it was ours. I’m t was perfect.” Lucy says.

“I like that.” Tim says. “I really like that idea.”

“Me too.” Lucy says. “I can’t wait to marry you. I—”

“I know.” Tim says and he goes back to the beach. The moment she said yes and kissed him.

Yes. Yes. Yes.

It was all he needed to hear to seal his future with her.

“I love you Lucy.”

“I love you too.”

***

They continue to talk through the walls. They talk about nothing and everything. Tim knows when she is getting tired because she takes a while to finish her sentence. Her voice is heavier, and he tells her to go to sleep.

“Sweet dreams.” He says. He doesn’t sleep much, he stays awake thinking of how he can escape. How he can get them out of here. Where ever they were.

“You need sleep too Tim.” Lucy says. “I know you haven’t been sleeping.”

“You know me too well.” Tim says. “Goodnight Lucy.”

“Goodnight Tim.”

***

“If we were at home and curled up on the couch I would—” Tim starts but the door swings up and the man and Lucy appear. Tim jumps up and the man shoves Lucy inside. She looks exhausted, pale and furious probably for being man handled.

He is too.

“I have had enough of you two.” The man snarls. Tim grabs Lucy pulling her into him. She buries her face in his chest. Tim’s surprised he didn’t come in earlier. It was a lot worse. “You can have two hours together.”

Tim doesn’t reply just presses a kiss to the top of Lucy’s head. He breathes her in but she doesn’t smell like herself. She smells like sweat, dirt and something else. But he doesn’t care because she’s in his arms.

“Fine.” Tim says. Two hours isn’t enough, it will never be enough. The man glares at him and then slams the door shut. Lucy lifts her head and pulls him down for a kiss. She doesn’t let go of him and it takes a minute for him to realize she’s shaking.

“Hey. Hey.” He says softly pulling her back to look at him. “I’m right here.” Lucy pulls him down for another kiss.

“Finally.” She mutters. Tim can’t help but agree. They might still be stuck in this mess and they might separated again.

(He’s not sure how he will handle that. Having Lucy ripped away from him again).

But they have right now. They have each other right now and that’s all that matters.
