Work Text:
In the midst of an adventure, they were transported to a bar. As they were hanging out, they all ordered a drink and chatted with each other. Of course, Jax was being an asshole like always. But other than that, things were chill.
Pomni looked next to her and saw Jax laying across the counter. She raised an eyebrow. “Uhh Jax? You okay?”
He giggled in response. “Never better Pom-pom!” His voice sounded a little different.
She then looked at his drink and saw it was empty. “Are you drunk already? You only had one drink.”
“He's always been a lightweight.” Ragatha interjected.
“Oh, okay. Should I be worried then?”
Ragatha shook her head. “No. Despite what you might think, he's actually more calm this way. Just keep an eye on him.”
“Okay.” She nodded. Suddenly she felt Jax lean on her. “Jax, what are you doing?”
“Pomniiii! C'mon, ‘ave some fun wit’ me!” He slurred. His head rested on her shoulder, still smiling.
Pomni blushed then sighed. She wasn’t sure how to feel. It was all very strange. “Get ahold of yourself.” But all he responded with was giggling. She started thinking maybe she should ask Caine to take both of them back to the circus. Before he does anything stupid. “Uh Caine?”
Suddenly he popped into existence. “Hey Pomni! You need something?”
She was startled, then spoke. “Uh Jax is drunk so could you take both of us back to the circus? I don't think he should continue these adventures.”
“Hmm, well it would be bad if he made a mess of everything. Alright!” He snapped his fingers.
In a flash, Pomni and Jax reappeared in the circus. Pomni landed flat on her butt while Jax face planted.
She stood up, rubbing her bottom. “Ow…” She looked over at the bunny. “Are you okay, Jax?”
He groaned in response. “What happened?”
She walked up to him. “We’re back at the circus. How are you feeling?”
“Fuzzy…” He answered. He tried pushing himself up but was too disorientated.
Pomni grabbed his arm and pulled him to his feet. Though he seemed a bit unsteady. His body was swaying a bit from side to side. He looked like a small breeze could knock him over. And yet, he was still smiling like an idiot.
Pomni held his hand. “C’mon, let’s get you to your room.” She pulled him down the hall. Jax stumbled along the way but they eventually made it.
She went to turn the knob, but it was locked. Groaning in frustration, she decided to just take him to her room.
She opened the door to her room and had Jax sit on the bed momentarily. “Stay put. I’m gonna grab some pajamas for you real quick.” She turned away from him and went to rummage through the dresser.
But by the time she finished, she saw Jax slumped to the side on the bed. She sighed and sat him back up. “I don’t know if I can remove your overalls, but you might be more comfortable having this over it.” She pulled the pajama shirt over his head.
When she did, Jax’s eyes were sparkling and his pupils went a bit wide. Noticing, Pomni started blushing again. She pushed on and avoided making eye contact.
Once she got his arms through, she let him go. “O-Okay. That should help. Let’s lay you down.” She grabbed him by the shoulders and gently nudged him down onto the bed.
Jax smiled again. “You’re so gorgeous, Pomni.” He giggled. Pomni froze as he raised a hand and caressed her face. Yet again, she became a blushing mess.
“J-Jax…?” She stuttered as she was in awe. She couldn’t move. She should’ve swatted his hand away, but she couldn’t. She was helpless.
Jax cupped her cheek in his palm. He closed his eyes and puckered his lips, but was still too disorientated and fumbled around trying to kiss her.
Pomni started nervously sweating, debating on what to do. Her mind started panicking. But suddenly without thinking about it, she quickly leaned forward and pressed her lips against his.
It was only 2 seconds, but it felt like time had froze in place. When Pomni pulled back, her heart was beating out of her chest. Meanwhile, Jax had a lovesick smile on his face. “You’re a good kisser…” He mumbled.
Pomni huffed and tried to calm down. “O-O-Okay, you need to get some rest.” She stammered.
Before anything else could happen, she pulled the blanket over Jax and tucked him in.
“Alright, sleep well Jax.”
“Night Pomni…” He muttered with a smile. He quickly fell asleep.
Pomni grabbed some blankets and settled down on the floor. Though she ended up tossing and turning throughout the night.
As she kept trying to drift off, she suddenly heard something. She lifted her head and saw Jax whimpering and his body was twitching. “Jax?” She whispered.
Pomni stood up to get a better look. While one of his arms was dangling off the bed, he had his other hand clutching his chest. He had a pained expression on his face and he was panting a little.
The jester frowned at the sight. She got down on her knees and held his hand. “You’re okay. I'm here.” She gently caressed his hand.
Jax gradually calmed down after a few minutes. His body and expression relaxed and his breathing slowed down. “Pomni…” He muttered.
The jester smiled and quietly giggled to herself. She decided to stay with him. So she layed her head on the bed while still holding Jax’s hand.
Pomni finally drifted off herself. It was the best sleep she's had in a while.
