Near hiking trails and a public park. She knocked on his door, asking for bandages and alcohol to clean up her knee. She was alone. The sun just passed the horizon, and Michael let her in.

    "I told you I'd never let you fall, Michael," He said close to Michael's ear. He didn't get a response, not that he expected one. That's okay. There was plenty of time for them to talk. For Michael to come to terms with what he was.

    There would be time for Star, too. Michael would like that, to have Star with them. David never, ever, doubted that Star would be better off as a vampire. She could and would be happy. Michael was going to be happy. David and the guys would make sure of it.
