Summary
The apocalypse came swiftly: a sweeping, contagious virus overtaking all major city centers within one long, horrific night.
Eight years later, Mike Wheeler is one of the “lucky” survivors, living day-to-day in a military camp, days dragging and dull. A run-in with the infected leaves him both immune to the virus wrecking the planet and a target for those with an eye for science.
Mysterious scientist William Byers, right-hand man to the famous virologist Henry Creel, arrives with a proposition: come with him to formulate the cure for this virus and use his immunity to end the apocalypse.
Haunted by the ghosts of their pasts, the two men's lives become irrevocably entwined as they find themselves caught between the fate of humanity and their own selfish wants.
