Inspired by this twitter post

This sort of format is definitely a first for me but I had to get the idea out of my head so it's short on purpose :)

Yay soldier legundo!

Work Text:

A game for one. Keep a journal of insects you've killed. Don't stop logging every death until you have stopped killing insects.

Date: 12/13/1786

Bug: A spider, small in length but dark in color. It was pretty, in a way.

Where: In the barracks, under the storage shelves.

Why: It kept making strange noises and made everyone else in the room uncomfortable.

What I was thinking: "I can't believe such a small creature caused all these issues…"

Date: 1/19/1786

Bug: A ladybug. Slightly orange but mostly red with the usual black spots.

Where: In the training field, we were practicing with the guns.

Why: A complete accident. I fired my gun and stepped back a little, crushing the ladybug under my boot.

What I was thinking: "I hit my shot! Oh. Poor ladybug."

Date: 2/15/1786

Bug: Grasshopper. Green.

Where: Forest.

Why: Fire, we cut down a tree, grasshopper accidental casualty.

What I was thinking: "God, I'm so cold. I hope this fire keeps us warm before we head into town."

Date: 2/17/1786

Bug: At least a dozen ants.

Where: Trenches.

Why: I had to squish them to prevent them from biting me as I crawled on the ground. I hope I don't have to do that again.

What I was thinking: "I hate this, I hate this, I hate this."

Date: 5/12/1786

Bug: A butterfly. It had beautiful orange wings and did nothing but flutter.

Where: Battlefield.

Why: It fluttered in front of my vision when I was trying to shoot. I had to kill it. I had to.

What I was thinking: "Stupid bug! Get out of my way! Kill or be killed."

Date: 12/1/1786

Bug:

Where: The forest.

Why: He was apart of the enemy. He wouldn't give us answers. He knew too much. It was my job to kill him. I made sure he didn't suffer.

What I was thinking: "This is for the best."

Date: 7/19/1787

Bug:

Where: The town.

Why: I had to poison them.

What I was thinking: Good job, soldier.

Bug: A moth.

Where: The doctor's office.

Why: It was unfortunately bothering one of the patients and while I tried to get it out, I failed quite miserably and ended up squashing it instead. I silently mourned it for a minute or so.

What I was thinking: "Oh. Poor thing. It just wanted some light."
