Parrot-and-a-Wifies. Inseparable, attached at the hip, birds of a feather; where one went, the other would follow. At least, until the whirling, muffling snow. Until the snap of a fishing rod and the shriek of a pearl, as damning as a death scream.
For a long, long time - months and months - it was just Parrot and a ghost, Parrot and a nothing, Parrot and a past, Parrot and a memory which won’t let go. He wasn’t sure if he wanted it to let go. Letting go meant forgetting. Meant letting Wifies die more than he already had. So he etched every detail of Wifies into his heart, carvings turning into scars, statues of pain.
For a very, very long time, it was that way. Waking up alone, attempting to preen his wings alone, tracking down the Director alone, running alone, being betrayed alone. Unknowingly being a puppet, controlled by a puppeteer, every next step predicted. Until the whirling, muffling snow. Until bubbling lava beneath him and an obsidian world around him. Until he was caught like a fly in a trap, a puppet crumpling beneath the puppeteer.
Parrot and a puppeteer; days spent in obsidian walls. A chink of weakness, a window of light. Just another fake, next layer of walls around him. Parrot and a puppeteer, the puppeteer demands and Parrot obeys. An odd sort of reversal; Parrot used to hold the strings but now Wifies does. Wifies demands and Parrot obeys. Stay in Paragon, stay safe. Parrot listens. On the surface, nothing has changed, Parrot asks and Wifies answers, but below the waves Wifies is pulling the strings.
Parrot used to be the leader, the one with power, but now Wifies does.
Parrot-and-a-puppeteer.
