Work Text:
Jimmy drags himself up the fire escape on the side of his apartment.
The hero had gotten into a fight with a lower villain, but that villain got a few lucky hits in, properly beating Jimmy down, escaping while he struggled to stand back up.
He knew he should have gone straight to the hospital but his apartment was far closer, and right now all he wants to do is see his two boyfriends.
He groans, his body aching more as he tries to shimmy the window open.
Once it’s open, Jimmy pulls himself into the apartment, barely standing there.
“Your home early.” he hears Joel says, rounding the corner of the hallway, walking into the living room where Jimmy now stands, “Oh my gods, Jimmy.”
Joel runs over, looking Jimmy over, “Grian!”
“What!?” the dirty blond avian shouts, annoyed, but dropping it as he walks into the room, rushing over when he sees the black eye forming on Jimmy’s face, his busted lip, and the weird way he’s holding himself up, “Oh my gods, Jimmy, what happened?”
“I got into a fight and lost.” Jimmy says.
“-Why did you not call us?-” - Joel
“-Why did you not go to the hospital?-” -Grian.
“I wanted to see you guys.” Jimmy says, knowing the logic does not make sence…he might have a concussion.
“Jim.” Joel says, pinching the bridge of his nose, “Call us.” he says, “We could take the car to go get you mate!”
Jimmy bites his lip, cringing when it hurts more, having forgotten about the bust there.
“Let’s get him down there, he might have a concussion."
“You're right.” Joel says, “Do you think you can walk?”
Jimmy nods, taking a step forward, right as his left knee buckles.
Joel catches him, “How did you walk here?”
“Adrenalin?” Grian supplies.
“Gay yearning?’ Jimmy says.
Joel sighs, “Well, I guess you’ll need your strong, handsome, amazing boyfriend to carry you out to my car.”
Joel picks Jimmy up in a bridal carry, trying to be careful of his injuries.
Grian opens the doors for them, shutting them behind them, all the way out to Joel’s car.
The brunet lays their partner down in the backseat.
Grian kneels on the floor in the back with him, making sure Jimmy stays comfortable, fixing his mask so it stays on.
Joel jumps into the driver’s seat, starting the car, driving them to the hospital.
Since it’s late, they take him into the emergency room, which usually would reward you with a long wait, but with one look at the costume of the hero Canary, Jimmy is brought into an exam room fairly quickly.
Grian and Joel fight over the little chair in the room, resulting in Grian sitting in it, and Joel leaning against the wall, arms crossed over his chest as a doctor examines Jimmy.
Once he’s done, the doctor leaves the trio alone for a bit before coming back, informing them of Jimmy’s bruising across his body, a few scrapes that can be quickly cleaned, and a minor concussion.
The doctor gives Joel and Grian a set of instructions for Jimmy’s care, cleaning out Jimmy’s scrapes, dressing them, and they are on their way home.
Joel carries Jimmy into the apartment (a better feat up the stairs then down them), setting him down on the couch.
Grian takes off Jimmy’s mask, pressing a kiss to the corner of his eye, opposite the one with the back forming around it.
Joel hands Jimmy a glass of water, and two little pills, pain killers the doctor had told them for Jimmy to take.
Once those are gone, Joel puts the glass down, copying Grian and sitting on the couch next to Jimmy, “How are you feeling mate?”
“Better.” Jimmy says, “Thank you guys.”
“You're welcome.” Joel and Grian say in unison.
Joel carefully takes Jimmy’s hand in his own, pressing a kiss to the back of it, “I love you.” he says, “so don’t do anything stupid like dragging yourself home when a simple phone call would have done the same thing.”
“Yes sir.”
“And try to be a little more careful next time Timmy.” Grian says, gently carding a hand through Jimmy’s hair.
Jimmy enjoys the feeling, trying not to think about the pain in his body, “Yes sir.” he says, smiling.
