    “I’m sure he will forgive you.” Even though Nancy didn’t know what he did, she knew the bond between the two boys is damn near unbreakable.

    “I have—I have to tell him.” She smiled a bit. They pulled away from the hug, and their tears were starting to fade from their faces.

    “I love Will. I can’t lose him.” Mike looked to the ground as he hiccuped. He had finally admitted it out loud. He felt a sense of pride for being able to tell someone. It almost drowned out the shame he felt at the same time.

    “It’ll be okay, Mike.” Mike finally smiled back at her. The smile didn’t last long after it had appeared, but it was enough for now.

    Nancy was proud of him. She was proud that he had come to terms with himself despite the lack of support he felt.

    “Thank you.” Mike wiped the last remnants of his tears from his face and smiled at her.

    “I’ll always be here when you need me.” She smiled back at him. “You can tell me anything.” Nancy wiped her own tears.
