Work Text:
“Oi, Toya,” Akito starts, dropping into the seat in front of Toya's with a sigh. He can already feel Toya's amusement on his skin. “Wanna come over after school? I've got a test after the weekend but I jus’ can't get myself to study.”
“Of course.” Toya's voice betrays his curiosity, as his gaze wanders all over Akito's face. “What's the exact issue you're having?”
“‘S just boring as fuck. When the hell am I gonna need to prove that a triangle’s a triangle in a music career?” He slumps in the chair, fiddling with the bento box he brought. He could be focusing on so many useful things, like singing or spending time with Toya, but instead his weekend is doomed to be shit because of math.
“So it's a motivation problem, then,” Toya hums, seemingly lost in thought. “I'll think of something to encourage you.” He doesn't miss the smile in Toya's voice, telling him to expect something good. Maybe Toya'll take him to that new cafe that opened recently? He hasn't had time to go yet, and he only heard the highest praise about their pancakes. His mouth is salivating at the thought alone.
Later, once they're finally free from school and sat down at his table, he gets to learn what Toya came up with.
“For every correct answer on these sheets,” Toya taps one of the two papers, flipped to it’s other side; exercises numbered from nineteen to twenty-five fill the page. If he didn’t want to interrupt Toya, he’d groan at the sight. “You get a kiss.”
Oh. Oh. His face goes a little red at the thought. Oh, this is so much better than pancakes. If Toya offered him kisses for every correct answer on a test, he’d be a straight A student.
“Only then?” he pleads, looking desperately between the sheet and Toya; he hasn’t tried to read through his scrawny notes yet, so he’s certainly gonna fail.
Toya sighs lightly, then shakes his head. “Did you study yet?”
“I haven’t,” he admits, shrinking a little. This entire math topic is pointless. It’s just proving that the shapes are the same and other bullshit like that. It’s mind-numbingly boring, moreso than math usually is.
“Here.” Toya leans away to take a notebook out of his bag. “I assume your own notes are rather illegible, so here's mine. Let me know if you need any help, and once you're ready.”
He accepts the notebook with a nod. He finds the topic, explained in neat, familiar handwriting and starts reading.
Fuck, it's so boring.
Use this rule for this, use that formula for that. The shapes are drawn the same, so why isn't that proof enough? He does his best to focus and follow along Toya's examples, because he does want those kisses. If he does all of his exercises well, he gets twenty five kisses, with a few extra if he asks nicely enough. Toya's going to smile so proudly at him, before his perfect, soft lips will get busy with something else…
Damn it, he's not focusing at all.
He shakes his head and goes back to the start. Something about angles and sides in triangles, and then some more still about that. That triangle shit is in every exercise somewhere on the way to the solution. There's a bit about angles that form from straight lines crossing and paralleling, and those angle rules seem to be used a bit, too. It's all angles and triangles, so he should be fine, right?
He doesn't want to mess up, though. As much as he wants this to be over with, he needs to focus. He reads over the rules about triangles again, then once more, then closes his eyes and recites them in his mind.
“Is everything well?” Toya asks, amused and concerned at the same time.
“Uh, yeah,” he startles, “Was makin’ sure I remember the shit ‘bout triangles.” He realizes now that he probably looked pretty defeated just moments ago. And while he might be fighting an uphill battle, he's not gonna give up so easily. There's twenty five kisses on the line.
“I see. I'm glad you're taking this seriously, Akito,” Toya beams at him, all proud and innocent, as if his idea wasn't the biggest tease Toya ever pulled on him.
“Yeah, yeah.” He waves Toya off, refusing to acknowledge the sudden heat in his cheeks.
He goes over the angle stuff again, then carefully analyzes Toya's examples. It's a lot of finding shapes in other shapes and using those rules to prove that yes, the regular pentagon they drew is, in fact, regular.
What a load of pointless bullshit.
With a long, drawn out sigh, he slams Toya's notebook closed, a little harder than he intended to.
“Sorry. I think I'm ready.” He grabs his pen and flips over to the first page.
“Good luck, then.” Toya still has that dumb, adorable, perfect smile on his face, and Akito forces himself to look away to focus on the exercises.
He goes slowly, meticulously, and while those words aren’t ones he’d normally use to describe his actions, he really, really wants those kisses. He pays close attention to the shapes, doing his best to assign the right rule and formula to each of them and prove whatever bullshit the exercise asks of him. He has no clue if whatever he proves is correct, because it all feels like nonsense; if you draw a regular octagon and put a square inside it, the square is going to be a square and nothing else. The hell’s there to prove?
He’s not sure how much time passes before he flips the page over, and it’s only sheet one of two. He feels as if his brain started turning into goo or some other non-brain substance; sluggish and struggling to do what it needs to. There’s more shapes to prove are real and as he notes down what feels like nonsense he thinks he starts to question if he’s real, too. Maybe he died and got sent to hell, with a punishment tailored just for him? Maybe purgatory is just an endless math tutoring session, with a reward he can never get? Maybe he’s in a coma and his mind is choosing to play footage of studying math, for some godforsaken reason?
“Your pen stopped moving three minutes ago,” Toya points out. “Do you feel ill?” He sounds genuinely concerned, bless his innocent heart.
“Sick of this bullshit, yea,” he admits, finally writing down the last line of the exercise he was working on.
Toya puts away his book to lean over the table and look at his sheet. When'd he even get a book out? And the worst thing is, he can't even watch Toya read, serenely focused on the text, because he has to look at stupid shapes.
“You're almost halfway. You're doing well,” Toya praises. He still has one exercise on this sheet and the whole next one to do, and he can barely resist the urge to hit his head into the table.
“Thanks,” he mutters out, though it's a bit weak. Curse this fucking math topic. Curse all of maths, really.
He starts doing the twelfth exercise, then hands the sheet over to Toya when it's done. Wordlessly, he starts on the next exercise.
He can do this.
Maybe he can't do this.
His head lands on the table with a thud, his pen clattering moments after. He groans into the wood. He's on seventeen? Eighteen? They all blur into one exercise, an amalgamation of shapes and angles and triangles.
“Would you like a break?” Somewhere above him, Toya quietly closes his book. Akito turns his hand into a thumbs up, too drained for another response. His brain probably evaporated like five exercises ago.
He hears Toya stand up, then shuffle about his room. Moments later, his hand is turned over, palm up, and something's placed in it.
“Some sugar should give you more energy.” Toya closes his fingers around what now feels like a chocolate bar. Plastic wrapping rustles as Toya opens the bar for him. “I could feed it to you if you'd prefer that.”
His face goes red. He'd so prefer that, especially if Toya used his own mouth, like he did for the Valentine's chocolates. God, he'd do near anything to have Toya kiss him now. He doesn't need sugar, he needs Toya's lips on his, without the fine print of having to do maths. Perfect and soft and the most beautiful shade of pink…
Fuck.
He really needs to finish these stupid math exercises, doesn't he?
He drags himself up, raising the bar to his mouth, then takes a sad bite. He hopes he looks pathetic enough for Toya to take pity on him, even if he hasn't ever beaten his ‘strict teacher’ mode.
Just like he expected, Toya doesn't comment on his attempt to induce empathy. He quickly finishes the rest of the bar, then forces himself to pick up his pen and get back to work.
His hand moves mechanically, almost on it's own; he feels like he wrote this all down a thousand times already. It still feels stupid and pointless, but he has the pattern down. At least he hopes so.
“Done.” He slams his pen down on the table. Finally, freedom. And plenty of kisses, hopefully.
He watches impatiently as Toya picks up the sheet and starts checking it over. Toya's brows furrow cutely in focus, but his gaze quickly drifts lower. Hopefully, he managed to score a good few kisses, because he's been deprived for the entirety of the afternoon.
“Good job, Akito!” Toya's lovely lips curve up in a smile. “You got seventeen right. That's nearly a B,” Toya praises. Wow, he really somehow nearly scored a B? “Would you like to go over your mistakes now?”
“Nah.” He gets up from his seat, practically leaping over his table to straddle Toya's lap. “Seventeen kisses, then?”
Toya chuckles, light and airy, then leans in to peck his lips.
“That's one,” he counts, as if that brief touch could be considered a kiss. There's no way Akito's allowing that.
He leans in, pushing Toya into the plush material of the back. He connects their lips, eager and insistent, and makes sure Toya can't pull away that easily. Toya's lips feel divine against his, and he hopes Toya can tell just how much he needed this.
“That's one,” he pants out once he pulls away.
“Are you sure?” Toya asks, eyes shining. “Since this was my idea, I should be the one deciding the rules, no?” His head tilts, and he almost looks cute enough to convince Akito.
“‘M not lettin’ you cheap out on my hard-earned kisses.” He kisses Toya again to mute any further protest, shifting on the chair to press even closer to him. Toya's hands move into his hair, trying to bring him even closer, before pulling him away.
“What if I do this?” Toya murmurs out, lips trailing down, from the corner of his mouth down his neck. “Or this?” He moves even lower to suck a mark into his collarbone. “Am I still ‘cheaping out’?”
“‘S not kissin’, so yes.” He grins, tilting his head down for his third kiss. Toya smiles against his lips, easily adjusting to his thorough, eager tempo. He lets his arms hang around Toya's neck and off the back of the armchair, trying to get even closer. He keeps kissing Toya even when his lungs start to burn, and reluctantly pulls away once it's unbearable, teeth teasing the tender meat of Toya's bottom lip. He pulls away fully to admire his work; Toya's face is flushed a beautiful pink, and his pale lips have darkened from his ministrations. They shine with saliva, so incredibly alluring, and he can't resist leaning in again.
Toya's hands move from his hair, down his neck, then slide under his hoodie. He leans slightly forward and moves his arms back to let Toya take off the hoodie without breaking the kiss. Once his arms are free he tangles a hand in Toya's hair, messing it up. Sadly, Toya pulls away moments later.
“You do realize you’re not getting away without an explanation of your mistakes?” Toya pointedly leans to the side to look at the papers.
“Yeah, yeah. I jus’ need a longer break, promise.” What he needs is to make out with Toya until the sun sets, but he probably can’t drag out his remaining thirteen kisses for so long.
Toya hums, idly playing with his messy tie. “We should get to it, then. Our time isn’t unlimited.” His hand tightens, and he pulls him in by the tie into another kiss.
Is Toya trying to kill him?
His face goes scarlet, because what the hell, Toya just pulled on his tie to yank him into a kiss. It's the last thing he expected, and in his shock, he can barely respond to the deliberate, lazy movement of Toya's lips on his. Toya's hand is still on his tie, keeping him close, and if his brain hasn't evaporated earlier, it'd do so now, though for different reasons.
“Dude,” he pants out once he pulls away, though Toya’s still keeping him close.
“Did you like it?” Toya tilts his head, with that adorable, earnest sincerity. “I want you to enjoy yourself before we have to go back to studying.”
“You’re gonna be the end of me,” he murmurs out, leaning in for a kiss before Toya can respond and fluster him further. He goes slower, to really savour the kiss and the feeling of Toya's silky soft lips on his. God, he really needed this, and he still has eleven to go. Maybe he can get a few extra in by pretending to lose track of them? Though, Toya's very precise and meticulous, so he probably knows how many they're on.
Toya pulls away, and he chooses to try his luck.
“Toya, how many’re we on?” Hopefully, Toya lost track of them. Please, let Toya lose track of them.
“We're on six,” Toya sounds amused. “You're plotting something, aren't you?” His eyes narrow, a knowing smile gracing his perfect lips.
“‘M not,” he defends, lying through his teeth. “Do we hafta go over them today?” He gives Toya a pleading look. Toya can always come over tomorrow, they can study some more and, most importantly, kiss some more.
“And why shouldn't we go over your mistakes today?” Toya's voice sharpens, just a little.
“‘Cause I wanna keep kissin’ you. Ya can come over tomorrow to study with me some more?” he offers. He doesn't want to do any more math, not when Toya's right under him, face flushed and eyes shining and so, so tempting. Really, he's asking for it, looking like that.
“We can go over your mistakes today and study more tomorrow, though?” Toya's unrelenting, which is to be expected, really.
“I don't think I have the strenght for more bullshit math,” he admits with a sigh.
“But you do have the strength for kissing.” Toya's slowly starting to reenter ‘strict teacher’ mode, and if this continues, he's done for.
“Kissin’ you's a pleasure, it's not comparable to fuckin’ math. Also, this topic sucks. Please?” He can't stand more math today, he hit his limit. “I'll study tomorrow, promise, ‘M not gonna complain.”
Toya's gaze is calculating, analyzing. Hopefully, he won't have to do any more calculating and analyzing today, if Toya allows it.
“I'll think about it,” Toya sighs with a shake of his head.
He surges forward to kiss Toya in thanks, pushing insistently against his lips. There's a chance, a glimmer of hope, and maybe he just needs to kiss Toya good enough for him to relent. He happily responds when Toya's tongue pushes against his, before Toya guides him away.
“You're like a dog that heard the word ‘walk’,” Toya points out with an amused smile, “Energized and excited. If you had a tail, it'd surely be wagging.”
“Dude.” He retaliates by messing up Toya's hair some more. Why does Toya have to keep doing these things? His poor heart can’t take it.
“We're the BAD DOGS, aren't we? You're certainly comparable to a bad dog with your refusal to study.” Toya’s words make him wince. Does he have to keep bringing up school?
Before Toya decides to keep reprimanding him, he kisses him to shut him up. It works very well, because Toya doesn’t try to escape the kiss, instead bringing him closer. This is much, much better than math or talking about math. His hands sneak under Toya’s blazer, and he grins into the kiss when Toya shifts to let him take the blazer off.
“See? Isn't this better than math?” He leans down to leave a few kisses on the moles scattered across Toya's neck.
“That was eight, Akito,” Toya reminds him, but his head tilts up to give him more space. Akito keeps going, moving below Toya's shirt collar to leave a mark there. He hums unhappily once he can't get any further down, so he undoes Toya's tie and moves on to his shirt buttons.
“Akito.” Toya takes his wrists and guides them away. He frowns, making grabby hands, but lets Toya hold him still.
“Toya, c'mon.” Why does his partner have to be an academic demon? He just wants to make out instead of studying math, it's no big deal.
Toya doesn't seem impressed, his lips set in a thin line.
“How do I know you won't do this again tomorrow?” Toya, unfortunately, asks a really good question. Especially since he was pretty much planning to do the same thing of distracting Toya with kisses.
“I promise?” he tries. Toya's face doesn't move an inch.
“What if I told you you can't kiss me until we're done studying?” Toya's voice is light, even though he's planning to torture him.
“That'd be mean as hell.”
“But it would certainly motivate you, no?” Toya may look innocent, but he's the devil in disguise. “I think that’s what we'll do. From tomorrow, you’re not allowed to kiss me unless you study. Maybe I'll figure out a reward system for every grade above an F.”
He gives Toya a desperate, pleading look. “Ya can't do that.”
“I think I should do that, though. You've been doing pretty well on your own, but since you seem to need more motivation, this is an excellent way of providing it.”
“You're evil.” He points a finger at Toya, but without breaking his hold.
“I'm trying to ensure you won't need supplementary classes.” Toya only shrugs, cold and uncaring. “We left off on eight, haven't we? We have nine left, and I'm not letting you get away without correcting your mistakes.”
Toya finally leans in to kiss him, hands still circling his wrists. They get to twenty one kisses total before Toya makes him turn around and fix his mistakes, but since managed to get four extra kisses and hasn't been chased out of Toya's lap, he'd call this a pretty sweet victory.
