Trans-Dimensional Portal Mishaps

Summary:

When Leo feels he needs some extra advice to lead his team, he decides to seek out help from another version of himself who seems to have it together (maybe?). But, when Leo miscalculates and ends up sending his counterpart to his dimension, both Leonardo's are going to have to face some very confused brothers and their own self-doubts.

Notes:

Just so we don't get confused, Here's how the names will work: (Inspired by the role calls in thier respective theme songs ^^)

Rise turtles: Leo, Raph, Donnie, Mikey
2012 turtles: Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, Michelangelo

*The 2012 turtles will use nicknames and not always call each other by their full names, but I will make it as clear as I can who is talking/referred to

Chapter 1: A Warm Welcome

Chapter Text

Leo found himself lying down on a wet, cold, hard floor. He didn’t even need to open his eyes to know he was in the sewers somewhere. A smell he would normally find somewhat comforting in a weird way, but not here. These sewers were unfamiliar to him.

He could hear voices close by, also unfamiliar to him.

“Was it really necessary to tie him up?” A voice asked. He kinda sounded like a smartass to Leo.

“Hey, I’m not taking any chances.” A second voice said. This voice was deeper and rougher. It sounded like he yelled a lot.

“Shouldn’t he be awake by now?” A third voice chimed in. He sounded a lot closer to Leo’s head.

Sure enough, when Leo managed to force his eyelids open, he was met face to face with a green blob with big blue eyes looming over him.

“Nevermind, looks like he’s waking up!” The figure said, backing away as Leo sat himself upright.

After his eyes adjusted he realized that he was not looking at three green blobs, but three turtles.

Before he could even process more of their features, one of them lunged at him. Leo instinctively tried to block the attack with his arms, but found his wrists bound with chains behind his back. Thankfully his attacker didn’t go for the killing blow, but instead crouched down in front of him to growl in his face.

“Alright, who are you and where did you come from?!” He snarled. His interrogator was indeed another mutated turtle. He wore a red tattered mask over his eyes, eyes which burned like piercing green flames. He looked like-

“Raph…?” Leo muttered, finding his voice.

The Raphael look-alike seemed to back off a bit, narrowing his eyes further. He seemed like Raph, but he wasn’t as bulky and spikey as his brother. He was also much shorter. And angrier.

“Woah dude! He knew your name!” Another turtle wearing an orange mask came up behind Not-Raph, shaking his shoulders, looking amazed. An expression that looked too familiar to his own brother, Mikey.

“Of course he would, Mikey.” A third turtle sporting a purple mask joined his companions. “It would seem my analysis is correct, and we’ve just encountered another one of our dimensional counterparts.”

Then it all came back to him.

“Did you say dimensional counterpart? Ha! That means it worked!” Leo exclaimed, kicking his feet excitedly.

“Okay, okay, where’s your Leonardo? I need to speak with him.” Leo said, glancing around, trying to spot a blue masked turtle.

“We were hoping you could tell us that.” Raphael said, looking like he was going to boil over.

“Say what now?”

Raphael lunged forward again, this time stabbing one of his sais in the ground next to him as a warning.

“WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH LEONARDO?!” Raphael yelled, startling Leo and nearly making his head retract back into his shell.

“Okay that’s enough Raph!” Donatello said, yanking the seething Raphael away from Leo with Michelangelo’s help.

“Deep breaths dude, deep breaths…” Michelangelo soothed, patting his brother on the back.

“Okay, am I missing something important here? Because I’ll be the first to admit, this was not the kind of welcome I was expecting.”

“Well you see…” Donatello said, turning back towards his captive. “Our Leo is missing, and you’re our main culprit.”

Leonardo wasn’t quite sure what had happened. One second, he was in the dojo with his brothers, and the next, he was falling. He wasn’t falling for long though, as he soon found himself landing flat on his shell.

What the hell…?

Pulling himself up to his feet, he found himself in a dark open room. From what he could make out in the dark, it seemed like he was in an old subway station. But it wasn’t abandoned, it was clearly being lived in. He could just make out a couch and a few arcade machines like he had back home.

He was too busy taking in his surroundings to even hear someone approach up the stairs.

“Leo…? Is that you? What are you doing up so late?”

Suddenly the lights turned on and Leonardo froze like a deer in headlights, staring at the small orange spotted turtle in front of him. The little turtle’s eyes widened.

“INTRUDER!” He yelled, pointing a finger at Leonardo.

“Wait! I-” Before he could explain himself, an alarm started to blare loudly overhead, lights flashing red. Suddenly metal tentacles emerged from the darkness, diving towards Leonardo. He rolled out of the way just in time from being ensnared, but then a large figure charged at him from out of nowhere, grabbed him by the neck and slammed him into the wall.

“Alright, state your business! Before I have to go all mystic on you!” His attacker said, keeping a solid grip on Leonardo even as he clawed at the hand around his throat.

At that moment, Leonardo took a second to observe his attacker more closely. He wore a red mask. Looking around, he saw the other turtles wearing masks too. Orange and purple. Other masked turtles, who weren’t his brothers…

Is this… Another dimension?” Leonardo choked out.

“Another what now?” The red masked turtle said, loosening his grip, looking bewildered.

“Wait, wait, wait, what did he say?! Did he say… another dimension?!” The purple turtle gasped, eyes suddenly sparkling.

“Put him down Raph, I want to get a look at him.”

Raph shrugged, letting Leonardo stumble to the ground. Before he could gather his bearings again, the purple turtle stuck his nose in his face, eyebrows furrowed and staring intensely.

“Hmmmm…” He mused observing his body, poking him in random places. He felt like one of his brother, Donnie’s weird science experiments.

Oh… I guess I am now.

After a moment, Donnie took a step back, joining his confused looking companions in a loose semi-circle around Leonardo.

“And your name would be…?” Donnie questioned, but he already seemed to know the answer.

“Leonardo.”

“Wait, but he can’t be Leo… right?” The orange turtle, who Leonardo presumed to be this universe’s Michelangelo said, looking quizzically at his brothers.

“I am Leo, just not your Leo.”

“But, how did you even get here?”

“I was hoping you could tell me.”

Leonardo remembered that the last time he was sent to another dimension, it was because he and his brothers were “summoned” by alternate versions of themselves to help stop a Kraang plot trying to destroy their realities. It didn’t seem like it was the case this time, with both him and his alternate brothers being just as confused on the reason for his impromptu visit.

“Wait, but if you’re here… Where’s our Leo?” Raph asked, starting to look worried.

Moving past the strangeness of this Raphael’s open concern for his brother, Leonardo became even more confused.

“You mean… he’s not here?” Leonardo was no expert on interdimensional travel by any means, but if his arrival somehow had caused their Leo to vanish, he had no idea how that could have happened.

“What is going on up here?!”

From the opposite side of the room, a short, squat rat wearing an orange robe appeared at the top of the staircase, looking like he had just woken up and was very displeased about that.

Master Splinter…?

As the rat man approached, taking in the scene in front of him, he narrowed his eyes at Leonardo.

“Blue, there is something off about you…”

Splinter narrowed his eyes further.

“Did you get a haircut or something…?”

“What? No, I, um-”

“Uh, no Dad.” Raph started. “This is Leo…”

“...From another dimension.” Donnie finished.

“Ah, I see.” Splinter said, raising his eyebrows. Leonardo couldn’t quite make out his expression. He didn’t seem very worried. Or concerned?

“Well other Blue, how would you like some tea?”

“Oh, um- sure, I’d love some.” Leonardo said, following this strange version of his sensei down the stairs, completely in the dark about what he was getting himself into.
