Does A Secret Pet Count As A Teenage Rebellion? (Day 14 - Pets | DannyMay 2026)

Summary:

Jack and Maddie do not allow pets. Cujo is basically Danny's pet. So the question is, does this count as a teenage rebellion?

Work Text:

Jack and Maddie never allowed their children to be pets. It had been a rule for so long, it is just a fact of life now. Their reason: their career makes FentonWorks a dangerous place for animals.

Jazz just pointed out, the closer she was to graduate from Casper High one Saturday morning at their breakfast table, “Of course your job is dangerous! Isn’t this what the lab is for? To contain your experiments there-Oh right, you have no real lab safety and keep your dangerous samples in the main fridge!”

Jack and Maddie chalked her complains off as her timid form of teenage rebellion, which just annoyed her more.

“You say FentonWorks is not safe for animals? But totally save for us?” Jazz pointed out their hypocrisy. “It is a surprise Danny didn’t die in the accident with the portal!”
“It was just a little zap!” Jack said cheerfully. “Nothing a Fenton can handle!”

Jazz grabbed his right arm and pointed at his Lichtenberg figure. “He has a literal scar from it that still hadn’t faded! He was bed bound for a week! We should have had brought him to the hospital!”

However while Jazz and their parents were arguing, Danny just left silently and returned to his room.

When he was sure his parents and Jazz were busy, he closed the door and whistled. Five seconds later, Cujo appeared, tail wagging.

Cujo was, obviously, the ghost of a dog. As such, he acts like a dog. Well, specifically like a puppy. Due to this, Cujo tends to follow Danny around.

So Danny basically ended up with a secret pet ghost dog. While living in ghost hunter HQ.

“Does a secret pet count as a Teenage Rebellion?” Jazz asked as she walked into his room.

“More than your arguing. What you do is literally just arguing.” Danny replied. “What are they doing now? Back in the lab?”

“Grocery Run. The fridge fractions revolted again.” Jazz told him, “So we have the house for us alone for an hour or two.”

Cujo japped and ran out of the room, taking this as his sign to really let the dog out.

“Cujo!” Danny yelled, running after him.

Jazz just rolled her eyes and called after him, “Your dog! You clean his mess!”
