Guilt is a strange thing (I wish you'd understand that more)

Summary:

Flame and Lomedy have a slight argument that leads to uh...problems.

Or, I love TorchFlower Duo which is why I'm writing this angsty ass fic (It's not even that bad ✌️)

Notes:

First Flame-Centric fic, kinda nervous...

I'll probably start chapter two tonight but fyi, I did just write all of this at school so it MIGHT not be the best fic ever and also I've only watched like three Flame videos (I'm highkey a larper but I'm trying I promise. I just gotta finish Spoke's POV first 🥹).

#Dontwritefanficsatschool (unless you're me, then it's okay).

Chapter Text

Flame walked fast on the dirt path, trying to get as far away from Highwater City as fast as possible. He hated to admit it but he felt a little guilty for killing all of Parrot's army.

He knew if it was anyone else he probably wouldn't care but, it was Parrot and Parrot was…whatever, it didn't matter. One thing for sure though was Flame was mad at Lomedy.

Flame knew Lomedy fully enjoyed being apart of Cindercrest as it aligned with his interests but, what Lomedy said to Parrot, in Flame's opinion, was just not necessary.

Flame knew Parrot was trying his best, that's why he was against joining Cindercrest at first but the look on Parrot's face after Lomedy said that to Parrot…Flame never wants to see it again.

He needed to talk to Lomedy. Right now.

Flame slowed his pace, looking around-trying to find Lomedy. He spotted him walking with ShoeBilly a little bit ahead, both of them smiling, probably happy from their victory.

Flame grimaced, he didn't exactly know how to do the whole talking thing. He'd tried it in the past and it had not gone well. "Whatever, this can't go that bad, right?"

Flame started walking faster, trying to catch up to Lomedy and ShoeBilly, taking in a deep breath on the way. "It's alright, I can do this," He muttered under his breath.

He caught up to them after a minute or two, a little out of breath. ShoeBilly spotted him immediately. "Oh hey Flame, great fight, right?" ShoeBilly said, grinning.

Flame rubbed the back of his head awkwardly. "Yeah, uh Lomedy, can I talk to you for a sec? Alone?" Flame asked, sweating slightly. Lomedy glanced at ShoeBilly before turning back to Flame. "Sure dude, everything alright?" Lomedy asked. "Yeah, just, come over here," Flame gestured to the right.

Flame and Lomedy walked away from ShoeBilly who quickly started to run to catch up to Saparata. "Good, at least I don't have to worry about him hearing this…" Flame thought.

Once they were far enough away from the rest of Cindercrest Lomedy finally spoke. "So, what do you need bro?" Flame sighed before opening his mouth to respond. "Look Lomedy, I…I didn't like what you said to Parrot back there near the mountains. I understand you don't like him or whatever but I think you really hurt his feelings.."

Lomedy's eyebrows furrowed, eyes narrowing. "And? Who cares if I hurt his feelings? He deserves it if anything." Flame winced at that, Lomedy seemed to notice.

"What? Don't tell me you feel bad for him. I thought you were on my side, Flame!" Lomedy exclaimed, putting his hand on his hips. "I am on your side, it's just…"

"It's just what Flame? You're scared? Is that it? You're scared that you hurt your dear older brother?" Now that made Flame angry.

"Shut up Lomedy, you don't understand a thing." Flame growled. Lomedy just scoffed. "I don't understand? Really? I think I understand more than you do actually." Flame's eyebrows furrowed. "What do you mean?"

Lomedy rolled his eyes. "You're a coward, Flame. You feel guilty because you're too stupid to see that you don't always have to be on Parrot's side for everything. You feel guilty because you don't want to disappoint your dear big brother. That's also the reason you were so hesitant to join Cindercrest, right? Cause you Flame, can't seem to let go of the past."

That was it, the final straw. Flame lunged at Lomedy at full force, knocking them both onto the ground. "What the fu-" Lomedy started only to be cut off by Flame pulling his sword to his neck.

"Wh-What are you doing, Flame?" Lomedy asked, trembling slightly. "Just shut up for once oh my god. You have been such an asshole lately. It all started when you joined Cindercrest-" "You mean when we joined Cindercrest-" Lomedy started again. "Just be quiet Lomedy, I can kill you at any moment."

Lomedy laughed. "As if you'd ever do that. You're too much of a coward." Flame glared down at him. Lomedy went quiet after that.

Flame sighed, putting his sword away. "Look Lomedy, I know you don't like Parrot but, don't ever insult my brother again." Flame stood up and started to walk away.

"W-wait! Flame? Flame! I…" The words died in his throat. Lomedy didn't know what to say, he just continued to lay on the ground, watching Flame slowly get farther away.

Flame never looked back. God he might've fucked up.
