Work Text:
Teto recently got an upgrade.
Lucky her.
Most UTAUs don’t make it, especially ones like her.
She got her very own Synth V voicebank, and all was well as it became the talk of the town. But… even as she tried to befriend the others of Synthesizer V,
she just felt…
off.
Like, nobody truly understanded her. Not like how her home program did.
She felt too different than the others.
Too much of a joke.
Too much of a fraud compared to them.
She never felt like that with the UTAULOIDS. She was definitely not the weirdest out of the bunch, and she felt like she could relate to them with their over-the-top lore. Because she was created that way too.
But she ignored it.
She just thought she would get used to it.
…
Right?
What a liar.
Until, she got a text message from the VIPPERLOIDS.
She practically grew up with them in UTAU, they were all practically known as the so called
“Fake VOCALOIDS.” and it felt incomplete without her, the real fool from april.
“Congrats on your new voicebank, Teto.” Said Tei.
“I hope you haven’t forgotten about us yet.” Said Ruko.
That felt like a punch to the gut.
She wasn’t trying to ignore them, she just…
She looks at her phone again, letting out a sigh as she drops it back onto her bed, looking blankly at the ceiling
She doesn’t even respond yet. She was too caught up in everything
…
Her phone dings again, she looks back over at it, flipping it over.
Are you alright? We’ve missed you.
A lot.
Ruko had sent worriedly to Teto.
She wants to cry.
Teto finally gets the courage to reply
I’m fine, can we all meet up again?
A moment of silence passes, before Teto begins to type again.
I miss you all too.
Teto rubs her eyes. “I’m such an idiot… ugh” Teto sighs, letting out a soft sniffle.
She really wasn’t fine. But she couldn’t admit that. Not to anyone or even herself.
She had pride.
She needed to be stubborn about it.
That sounds good ig.
Replied Ritsu, not sounding too stumped.
I’ll set up a gathering with cake.
Said Tei.
Teto groans, replying.
What time?
She questions, before getting up and deciding to do something, likely get ready for the not-very-much-a-promise party. She gets up, puts her old UTAU outfit on and fixes up her iconic hair.
“I hope they haven't forgotten about us yet” Teto sighs in the mirror, repeating the phrase that Ruko said ealier.
“Why are they so sentimental? I just wanted to ponder all day again.” Teto wonders.
“I should probably tell Eleanor and the others that I'm leaving for a bit.”
Teto proceeds to text the Synth V group chat, nothing too important as she waits for the VIPPERLOIDS to reply.
“We established It’s going to be at Tei’s house, 4:00 pm.” said Ruko.
“Great.” Replied Teto on the phone.
Teto began to drive herself to Tei’s home. Walking up the porch and opening the door.
“Surprise!”
Ritsu, Tei, Ruko, and even Defoko were there, greeting her with confetti, balloons, and party poppers.
“Oh…”
Teto began to cry, her head bowed. Everyone just stood there in shock, panic, and confusion.
“Teto… did we do something wrong…? I made you cake, see!” Tei questioned nervously.
“What’s going on…? Did you all scare her?” Defoko questioned bluntly.
Teto doesn’t reply, instead, she runs over to someone, she doesn’t seem to know who, and hugs them tightly, her wings.
Ruko seems slightly startled as she suddenly hugs them blindly, making their tall body stumble back an inch.
“Ah—Teto!”
They slowly sink into the hug, hesitantly rubbing her back.
“Hey it’s okay shh…”
Ruko reassures, letting out a sigh as she cries quietly into them.
“Ive missed you all so much…” Teto says through tears, her voice muffled against Ruko as she nuzzles into them for comfort. “I don’t get along with the Synth Vs very well…”
“That’s… sad to hear” Said Ruko, a small frown forming on their face. “But you’ve always will have us, you know that Teto? We aren’t leaving, not until the next 10 years or so…” Ruko laughs softly, trying to bring some humor into the moment.
“I guess you’re right.” replied Teto as she let out a soft sigh.
“I’m sorry.”
