Work Text:

The storm roared loudly outside, so loud you could hardly hear your own thoughts.

It was bad, not usually did you have rain like this, but tonight seemed like one of those nights. Thunder growled like a feral lion, it seemed closer than ever, probably right outside your house, while the lightning lit up your bedroom for seconds at time, before disappearing again and repeating its cycle.

It was hell.

Yes, you were deathly afraid of storms, but you had never experienced one this bad before.

All you could do was clutch your blanket in fear as your boyfriend, Lee Minho, slept soundly next to you. He really was a heavy sleeper, because there's no way an average person could sleep through a racket like this.

Another bang of thunder hits, and you shudder, burying yourself deeper into the sheets like it could protect you from the horrors outside, which was no help.

You couldn't sleep, not like this, it was too noisy. It didn't help that you have awful issues with your ears, making every sound that's just the tiniest too loud hurt like hell. You didn't play about storms.

But all of a sudden, everything stopped. The noise disappeared, lightning stopped painting your room in a flash of white, and thunder no longer rang in your ears. You visibly relaxed, finally believing that it was over, you let out a content sigh. You did it, that's what you thought to yourself.

Until another excruciatingly loud noise made you let out a yelp noise.

Yep, it started back again, it wasn't over just yet.

The noise had startled you so much that you had tumbled out of bed, landing right on your ass on the cold, wooden floor.

Minho finally woke up, his head shooting up in surprise, and ready to protect you from whatever that noise was. But when he looked over to your side of the bed, you were no where to be seen.

His eyes widened, thinking that someone kidnapped you- until he heard a noise from below the bed.

He let out a breath of relief, thankful that his girlfriend hadn't been taken by an intruder, but still looked very worried.

"Y/N-ah? Why are you on the floor?" He asked, voice still raspy from sleep, but still making himself heard.

"I fell." You answered abruptly, standing up from the ground.

He tilted his head, still not understanding. "You...fell?"

You nod, sitting back down on the bed, tucking yourself into the sheets once again, like you hadn't just fallen off because of some stupid thunder and lightning.

You acted like everything was okay, but Minho could see how tense you were, he frowned, still not understanding what was up with you.

Until he heard it. The thunder.

It felt like it shook the house, a powerful roar that even made him jump slightly in his seat. But he saw your reaction to it, you flinched like you expected to die from it, raising your hands up to your ears to cover them- that's when Minho put two and two together.

Of course, you were afraid of storms.

He wasted no time to wrap you in his arms, a warm embrace from Minho as he kept you closed protecting you from the storm like his life depended on it.

You relax in his arms, even hugging him back as tightly as you could, but you were still obviously scared.

He kept you in a close hug for a couple minutes, letting you relax and calm down a bit as havoc was happening outside. It was helping you, even though you still flinched at every little bit of thunder or every time a stripe of lightning flashed in the room, you clung to Minho tighter.

Not that he minded of course, but he wished he could do something for you that could get rid of your worries.

But at that moment? He came up with the best idea ever.

He gave you a quick kiss on the forehead, mumbling something along the lines of 'be right back', before untangling himself from the sheets and jogging out of the room quickly.

You just sat there, dumbfounded, completely confused what he had come up with this time.

But he soon returned, holding a not-so-happy Soonie, Doongie and Dori in his arms, a grin plastered on his face.

He brought the bundle of cats to you, dropping the three fur babies on your lap, before he climbed back into bed himself. "They will make you feel better." He smiled warmly, petting Soonie on the head only to be met with a pissed off expression.

It seemed as if he had woken all three cats up just to bring them here. You chuckled, finding the thought adorable.

The cats' face's lit up upon seeing you, they loved you, maybe even more than they loved Minho, their own father. That was a bit of a stretch, but you give them more pets and treats than he ever would!

Dori nuzzled against your hand, instantly demanding pets, which you obviously couldn't resist.

Doongie curled up beside you, ready to protect you from any dangers.

And Soonie? Soonie just watched over you.

You had visibly relaxed since earlier, now instead of crying you were laughing at the adorable kitties. This made Minho smile to himself, laying back down in the bed, but his eyes never left you.

You followed his lead, very tired from the lack of sleep that you got, you got comfortable and found a cozy spot to test your head. You found a spot right next to Minho, your arm draped over his shoulder, he smiled, planting a gentle kiss on your cheek, even though that couldn't even begin to show how much he loved you.

You looked so cute curled up to him, he thought you looked like an adorable cat, it was like he had four cats in the room with him.

He let his arm wrap around you, securing you right next to him for the night, you weren't going anywhere this time.

The cats stayed by your side, one laying on your stomach, the other was wrapped up in a little ball against your side, and the last one, Soonie, slept at the foot of the bed, protecting you and Minho.

The rain still tapped faintly on the window, but you now had a distraction from all the noise, the three cats and your loving boyfriend, who would love you no matter what.

His breathing fell in sync with yours as the both of you relaxed, letting sleep take you.

But right before Minho fell asleep? He placed one last kiss on your forehead, so soft that it wasn't even there, but you felt it. Of course you felt it.

The cats purred quietly in unison, content with their owner and the person that made their owner happy.

The room was peaceful, no one dared to disturb this happy family, not even the rain, nor the storm.

There is always light after the rain.

Notes:

I wrote this because it's storming outside right now and I'm very afraid of them, I made this to calm me down :)

And it worked, the storm stopped as soon as I finished writing this, I'm feeling happy now.
