Work Text:

Being the one who gives everything for love is incredibly difficult. You sacrifice anything, just for a moment to be noticed by your destiny. The one who gives you meaning in your life. Would you do anything for her, just for her to tell you exactly how to achieve it?

Even if you were to die, your last wish would be to die in her arms. In the arms of the moon, which the endless ocean is destined to never reach. You wished to see her just one more time. After all, you knew how bound you were. You were destined to be together, and yet you were separated so far.

"Oh, I beg you with all my heart... Just to touch you, my dear!" Sea Fairy Cookie said, once again clutching at the last hope in her arms. She tried again to jump high enough to reach it. Each time, she jumped even higher, meaning she fell even lower and more painfully.

But Sea Fairy Cookie didn't care about this; the water had always been blinded by its love for the moon. She paid no attention to the harm it might cause. She couldn't stop for anything or anyone, not even for her beautiful lover.

Sea Fairy Cookie fell again. Again, she had achieved nothing. All her immense strength simply collapsed in an instant, just when she was so close. The last thing she saw before falling was her own hand, reaching into the distance. Then, it was as if a huge weight had fallen on her entire body, and she began to sink, her back to the ocean.

"No... No!" That was the last thing she said before bursting into tears. Her tears mixed with all the water she had created around her. She felt trapped in this ocean. She desperately wanted to go back and be near the moon for just one moment. But this time, it wasn't meant to be.

Finding herself at the very bottom, Sea Fairy Cookie thought of nothing but doing it all over again. She believed that if she tried desperately, she would eventually succeed. Rising to the surface, she once again began to use all her strength and the water to reach the desired place. This time, she believed she would succeed. She believed as much as she had last time. And the time before that.

She pushed off from the water again. And felt all the air rushing through her. The ocean itself this time, with all the speed it wanted and could. Her resilience was unshakable. After all, it was all she had now. She couldn't simply give up without reaching the beauty of the moon. Waves swirled nearby, and she pushed upward as fast as she could. All around was the ocean, the night sky, and the moon, which was her goal.

She was again, once again, so close. Just a little bit more and she could have...

?...

But everything around her just turned to ice. She herself turned to ice. But that couldn't be right, right? Had the gods themselves punished her for being so selfish?... She made everyone suffer, even herself, just for the sake of some impossible dream. She would never have succeeded.

Sea Fairy Cookie only ruined everything for the other cookies. They would no longer be able to live a normal life just because of her childish whim. She deserved this. To be in ice... For all eternity. What must it be like?... Just existing and endlessly staring at an unfulfilled dream. To be the one who gave everything for love. Even herself.

Sea Fairy Cookie was the lucky one who would find out. To understand the full meaning of an incredibly tormenting existence and repay all her sins. After all, she would never again melt, return from the ice, or emerge. Not even to fall and jump again. Not even to make amends.

But not much time had passed before Sea Fairy Cookie saw someone's silhouette. She didn't particularly want to think about what state someone might see her in, what her face had been like before she froze?... What if it was the one she'd been looking for all this time? She always wanted to appear before her for the first time in a special way. She didn't even want to think that it could be anyone other than the one who had punished her. They had simply come to scold her.

But this cookie began to appear more and more clearly. Her appearance was incredibly wonderful. Her gradient hair spilled across the sky. She slowly approached in her fluffy dress. She held a staff key in her hands, and a gentle, tired smile on her face. It was undoubtedly her. The one Sea Fairy Cookie had been trying to reach and see all this time. Her love, her meaning in life, all her pain... It was Moonlight Cookie.

"Ah, why are you in the ice, my dear? I've been waiting for you for ages! And now, my heart fluttered when I felt your presence here! So why are you frozen, my love? Do you need my help?" Moonlight Cookie spoke, her face flushed. Perhaps she felt embarrassed for asking such a silly question. Sea Fairy Cookie was trying to convey with her whole demeanor that she needed help.

Moonlight Cookie slowly approached her body. Her expression became worried, which caused some confusion. It seemed as if she was about to do something very powerful and special. Would she use all her strength? Call for help? Sea Fairy Cookie waited and waited, looking straight at her through the ice, expecting action.

But Moonlight Cookie only leaned closer and...hug her. Her gloved hands wrapped around the entire circumference of the ice around Sea Fairy Cookie. Maybe there was still ice between them, but it seemed they both felt the warmth of this embrace. Perhaps so strongly that the ice around her began to melt.

But Moonlight Cookie didn't let go, only squeezed tighter when the cookie itself was in front of her. Even when all the ice melted beneath them, Moonlight Cookie left them both in the same position in her arms. She was clearly...sleepy. But isn't that what you expect from her?

Sea Fairy Cookie was by her side, just as she had always dreamed of. She never wanted to let her go. She wanted to stay like this for an eternity. She had escaped her punishment in the sweetest way possible, having achieved her goal. Hadn't she been lucky? But suddenly the arms around her shoulders began to relax and reached her waist. Moonlight Cookie moved away, but still held the other one in her arms to keep her from falling.

A blush appeared on Sea Fairy Cookie's cheeks, and she looked away. The silence after that... It seemed very awkward, but at the same time soothing. The ocean raged beneath them, voices drifted in, and life went on as usual. And they were next to each other, as if... having stopped time in each other's arms.

But Sea Fairy Cookie couldn't remain silent any longer. She was still in shock and immense delight... "Moonlight Cookie... It's you...!" she forced out. Why did she say that? It was already clear who was standing in front of her. Maybe she just still couldn't believe it. She absolutely didn't want to look up or wait for an answer. But Moonlight Cookie gave one anyway.

"Yes, Sea Fairy Cookie, it's me. I'm here." She definitely said it with a distinct smile. Perhaps she was uncomfortable that Sea Fairy Cookie couldn't even look at her now and was trying to lighten the mood? Her happiness and laughter... She so wanted to hear it and see it with her own eyes! But now all she could do was stare down, seeing only the hem of someone else's skirt. She was just a complete coward, wasn't she?

"Oh, you must still be stunned! M-maybe we could do something active? Together!" Moonlight Cookie spoke again, trying to lighten the mood. Sea Fairy Cookie was indeed still stunned, completely frozen and tired after such an awkward position in the ice... But how could she complain? The love of her life was right there with her! All she could think about now was her! And what could she possibly suggest she do?

And as if reading her thoughts, Moonlight Cookie answered. "We can dance, if you want. D-don't worry! I can teach you! Just... Can you straighten your back? And then everything will follow naturally." She asked. She wants to dance with her?... It was so silly, but Sea Fairy Cookie would be lying if she said she didn't desperately want to do it.

Especially with her beloved moon. Just... Straighten your back and look straight into her eyes? Ah, no matter how ready she was, her body moved to the right place on its own. And her eyes were immediately fixed on someone else's purple ones, in which she saw all the warmth and hope she had been searching for all these years. Now she knew it was her favorite color.

Moonlight Cookie placed her left hand on Sea Fairy Cookie's shoulder blade and intertwined their fingers with her other hand. Her grip was very gentle and cold, but it warmed her soul and brought a blush to her face.

They were really going to do this?... After so many years, their first interaction would be a romantic dance under the night sky, controlled by the moon itself?... And Sea Fairy Cookie was absolutely delighted by it?? Well, why not, she thought, and finally placed her left hand on Moonlight Cookie's shoulder. So gentle... So perfect... In her hands.

Moonlight Cookie obviously hadn't expected such a abrupt response from her partner, so she began to become visibly nervous and covered her face with her hair. The one who had provoked this began to worry about her own actions. Had she really made her beloved moon embarrassed? Would Moonlight Cookie simply let her sink to the bottom of the ocean? This was clearly the wrong decision... She'd screwed up again.

But her words interrupted Moonlight Cookie's movements. She began to move her left foot forward. This was the beginning of a waltz, wasn't it? So she still wanted to dance with her? Sea Fairy Cookie saw the other's hint and stepped back with her right foot. Her foot rolled gently from the heel and landed, as if they hadn't been hovering in the air all this time.

Soon, Moonlight Cookie began to step to the right, and the other followed her movements on her own. Soon, their feet returned to their original
position, and they began repeating the movements again and again.

Her old self would have remained in this dance for the rest of her days, because it was everything she could have ever dreamed of or wanted. But now, Sea Fairy Cookie wants to let this moment pass, so that it will remain in their memories forever. After all, if she can always be with her now, wouldn't it be easier to enjoy each other's company than to wear out their bodies to the point of exhaustion?

Perhaps this is exactly what Sea Fairy Cookie needed to learn.
