Chapter Text
“Sir, you’re being called upstairs,” the intern who joined a few weeks ago perfectly addressed the sleeping bastard just how he wanted to be called to boost that disgusting ego of his. If this were any other day, Ryul would be head over heels over how the new intern had spoken to him but that wasn’t the case today as he was awoken from his much needed nap.
He began to yawn obnoxiously loud and look around with his bloodshot eyes, the same color that covered most of his white shirt. He never changed his clothes after returning back the day before, which is why he smelled like a dirty pig with his blood all dried up on the sofa.
He huffed his way up the stairs, annoyed that his sleep had been disrupted, and continued to roll his eyes until he reached the office. Ryul wasn’t a fool, he knew why he was summoned upstairs. The person he saw as he walked inside, on the other hand, surprised him. He made his way to the sitting area, where he was greeted by two people of higher rank than himself.
“He’s here” the tall boy who was a few years younger than Ryul spoke with his usual nonchalant tone, tapping on the back of the man standing next to him. The man turned around and stared at Ryul, who was attempting to get out of the office and back to sleep as quickly as possible.
“What did I tell you right before you left for the museum?” Jay’s voice was stern, making Ryul kick his foot against the chair behind him, irritation running through his body. He absolutely despised being asked stupid questions after completing a job or doing something he wasn’t meant to do, which he did quite frequently.
Not wanting to create a scene, Ryul for once did not roll his eyes and simply exhaled before answering the question. “You told me not to do anything unnecessary.” His tone was filled with mockery and vexation.
Jay nodded, and Joshua, who was sitting across from Ryul, did the same. “And what did you do once you were on the second floor of the museum, Kim Ryul”. His nerves were increasing, everyone in this building knew Ryul hated being addressed by his full name and his boss was doing it on purpose.
Jay pulls something out from inside and throws it onto his desk. It’s a copy of the newspaper and Ryul doesn’t even need to look to know what the headline is.
MR. SAITO, CEO OF 67 AND CO LLC
HAS BEEN SHOT AND KILLED AT THE SEOUL
NATIONAL MUSEUM
“I blew the dude’s brains off and onto the wall.” With a smirk on his face, Ryul shrugged and continued. “It’s probably still stuck there.” Joshua slapped his own forehead at his response and the person standing right next to Ryul turned his head to the window, biting his lip, trying not to laugh.
Jay didn’t pay any mind to Ryul’s attitude as the sight of the 18 year old agent with a smirk on his face wasn’t too foreign. “You're going to the casino, the one across the street from the hotels. Get the papers from the safe on the third floor. You have till Sunday night to get it without any casualties, or you’re out.”
Ryul rolled his eyes, not paying a single dime to Jay’s words because he knew they weren’t real. Despite his reckless behavior when on a mission, everyone in the organization knows that Ryul always gets the job done. The chances of him getting kicked out were beyond zero cause it was never going to happen.
“Yeah yeah whatever, just send me the details” Ryul yawns before making his way to the door to go back to sleep when he’s stopped by Jay’s voice.
“You don’t want to know who your partner is?”
Ryul turns around, his eyes widening and his nerves reawakening. “I don’t need a partner. You should know that by now.” His eyes were closed halfway due to both the exhaustion running through his body and the irritation that seemed to also make its way back inside him.
“We need to make sure you don’t start killing anyone, so we’re giving you a partner,” Jay calmly says, and it annoys Ryul how delicate someone's voice can be when talking to him when he’s on the verge of blowing up the very room he’s standing in. Jay points at the man whose attention was still on the window, indicating that he was his partner.
Ryul groans like never before, kicking the door he was a mere two inches away from. He turns to look at the man who was supposedly his partner for the next mission. “Out of all people, you want to pair me up with him?”
“You’re acting as if I want to work with you.” Ohyul turns around, rolls his eyes and Ryul has a sudden urge to take the gun that’s inside his jacket and smacks the back of it against Ohyul’s head.
“For fucks sake,” he yells out as he walks out the door, making sure to slam the door as hard as possible, scaring the newbies who were standing in the halls. He murmurs a set of curses before kicking the door to his room open and shut.
What he wasn’t aware of due to his heated rage was that Ohyul was walking behind him and into his room. “I’m in charge cause you can’t do shit.”
Ryul gets up from his bed and knocks over a glass, the floor now covered in silver. “Get the fuck out of my room.”
“It’s quite embarrassing that a 18 year old like you has the rage of a fourth grader.” Ohyul chuckled before sitting on the non-occupied chair, the rest messily covered with clothes and tools. “He sent me the blueprint already so I guess we can get the job done soon.”
Ryul, ignoring whatever the hell Ohyul was talking about, walked up to his closet to finally change out of his clothes. Ohyul, whose eyes were following Ryul, was disgusted at how the blood stained shirt was stuck to him like glue.
“We can get it done on Friday night cause that’s when the casino’s packed. Just don’t screw up and shoot someone with that awful temper of yours.” Ohyul got up and made his way to the door, not wanting to stay inside the room for a second longer.
“Get the fuck out of my room.” Ryul repeats before taking out and placing the new clothes onto his bed. Ohyul rolls his eyes and walks out, leaving a frustrated Ryul in his room with his head leaning against the closet, trying to calm himself down.
“The audacity to walk inside my room.” Ryul mumbles a few more curses before he’s happy with the amount of curses he’s let out today. He lays back in bed, this time with a fresh set of clothes and reads over the blueprint Ohyul had sent him.
“Son of a bitch.” Ohyul whispers before making his way downstairs and into the common room where some people were sitting and chatting away, their attention soon turned to Ohyul.
“Ohyul,” he heard from behind and cursed himself for not going straight upstairs before turning around to look at the people sitting on the couch. “I heard you’re working with Ryul for the casino”. Ohyul nods his head, not wanting to engage in a verbal conversation that’ll only annoy him more.
“Finally you two are working together, the best of the best.” If this were any other day, Ohyul would of thanked them but he was pissed as fuck and standing there was only ticking his nerves even more. “Just don’t kill each other.” One said in a playful manner, one that ticked Ohyul off.
He walked away without saying a word, running a hand through his copper brown hair and gripping it as he walked towards his room. Anger and disgust ran through his body once he came to a realization that he truly had no choice but to work with that asshole. Ohyul kicked the door shut before making a mental note to never do that again because Ryul did the same thing and he would never ever stoop to his level.
The universe was truly against Ohyul and he made note that maybe practicing a religion would stop all this bullshit from coming his way once someone walked inside his room.
Ohyul didn’t have to look up to know who walked in. As someone who was very observant and had a keen eye for detail, the footsteps of the person walking in allowed him to know who it was.
“Woojin get out,” he muffled out with his face all up on his pillow. Woojin, who paid no attention to what his best friend had said, only walked in closer and sat on the edge of the bed. “What do you want?”
“I haven’t even said anything.” Woojin puts his hands out and into the air in confusion on why Ohyul was so mad. “I just wanted to know how it went down with Joshua and Jay.”
Ohyul, still laying down, smacked his feet against the end of the bed like how a toddler would when their parents didn’t give them the candy they wanted. He whined out loud which made Woojin start laughing, angering him even more.
“Working with him won’t be so bad. It’ll only be a few days.”
“If you know why I’m mad, then why are you asking you asshole.” Ohyul leaned his head against the headboard before smoothing out his bangs that were all over the place. “You know this wouldn’t have happened if you didn’t fuck up the last msision.”
“What’d I do?”
“I wouldn’t have killed him if you weren’t half asleep inside the van.” Ohyul smacked his forehead, thinking back on the job from a few days back where Woojin was foolishly sitting inside the car with his eyes partly closed, oblivious to how guards began approaching the mansion Ohyul was in. Not knowing what to do with people now nearing him, Ohyul walked inside the room and killed Mr. Hiroto before escaping with what he needed to retrieve.
“I said I’m sorry but you have to admit, you wouldn’t be in trouble if you just left after killing him instead of blowing up the place.”
“Screw you.” Ohyul closed his eyes, trying to prevent himself from screaming and throwing Woojin out the window. “That asshole is gonna ruin everything, I just know it.”
“How about you have some faith in him for once? There’s a reason why he hasn’t been kicked out yet. He’s good at what he does.” Ohyul sighed, not wanting to hear any of this bullshit and Woojin got up, knowing better than anyone that Ohyul was moments away from exploding. “Just try not to kill him.” Woojin chirps out before walking out the door.
“Acting as if I’m a murderer or some shit.” Ohyul growls out before laying down. He leans over to get his phone from the nightstand to review the blueprint of the casino.
They were ordered to retrieve the papers from the safe located on the third floor. The plan was simple and straightforward but he had a gut feeling that something was going to go wrong. His partner was Kim Ryul of all people.
“Fuck this shit.” Ohyul huffs out before sitting up and thinking strategically on what they should do once inside the casino. The thinking goes on till the sun goes down and as the infamous line says, time goes fast when you’re having fun, Ohyul puts away his phone once realizing that the night sky is now up.
Leaning on his left, he closes his eyes and tries to go to sleep.

The bright sunlight beamed through the window with no sign of the rain that was forecasted the day before. Ryul twists and turns in bed, groaning at how the sun was now all over his face. Getting up and removing the blankets off himself, Ryul walked towards the window to close the blinds and push the curtains, making the room dark, just the way he liked it.
His balanced mood was soon ruined after a few knocks were heard on the door making him roll his eyes for the first time today as it was too early for someone to get on his nerves already. “Come in.” he yells out.
With the doors now opened and someone peeking his head through instead of walking in which was the right choice to make, Ryul turns around and sees Louis, one of the dealers of the organization standing outside.
“It’s fucking 7am, why’d you knock on my door so early in the morning?” Ryul’s voice was filled with anger and annoyance. He was never a morning person, so waking up early, especially with the sun shining on him, had immediately put him in a bad mood.
“It’s actually 10, and for your information, Jay has called you downstairs. Breakfast is almost finished and I think everyone wants you and Ohyul to start discussing the plan.” Louis walks away once he’s done talking, leaving a bothered Ryul in his room.
“I can never get some peace and quiet over here.” He storms into the bathroom and takes a shower, far longer than his usual ones knowing it’ll piss everyone off that’s waiting for him downstairs. Walking out partially naked with only a towel wrapped around his waist, he took his time picking out his clothes and picked out a simple black button down shirt along with some black jeans.
Looking into the mirror to fix his hair, he stared at himself, making another daily note to himself on how good looking he truly is. He felt eyes on him especially from the new joiners of the organization following him down the stairs where he was met with faces filled with annoyance.
“Louis went to your room 45 minutes ago and now you’re coming down.” Jay removed his attention from his watch, filled with diamonds around its circumference to Ryul who was standing in the middle of the stairs with his chin on the railing.
“Good looks need to be taken care of in an orderly fashion. You guys wouldn’t understand.” Ryul chuckled as he walked down the stairs and onto the marble tiled floor. He picked up one of the crackers from the tray and observed it with the smirk he always had on his face.
“Why’d you ask for me?”
“You know why you were called downstairs.” Ohyul stood behind Jay with a straight face, one that Ryul would love to punch till blood oozed out from every inch. Since Ryul was practically the embodiment of annoyance, he decided to poke fun at his so-called partner cause there needed to be some type of yelling inside the building.
“Ah, I didn't see you there. You’re kinda short, especially for a 19 year old.” The smirk on Ryul’s face grew bigger and this time, he even raised an eyebrow wanting rage to fill up Ohyul’s body. Ryul glanced over to the sofa where Louis was looking down at his phone, not giving a single shit about what was going on and Woojin who sat there baffled, not wanting to laugh.
Ohyul exhaled loudly, trying to calm his nerves down and opening his hands that were balled into a fist. “We have to discuss how you’re going to go inside the room, with no casualties.” He put emphasis on the last three words to piss Ryul off, which he did.
“There’s no need to discuss. It’s simple, I’ll just go in and get the papers while you’re downstairs watching over to make sure no one sees. Plain and easy, it’ll only take a few minutes.” Ryul shrugged, the theft this time was a lot more straightforward so there was no need to discuss it, especially with someone like Ohyul. “Now if you’ll excuse me, it’s time for me to eat”. He walked over to the couch and began eating the remaining crackers, ignoring the stares he was receiving.
Ohyul walked over and snatched away the bottle of water Ryul was about to open and threw it across the room. Louis chuckled at the action with Jay rolling his eyes, knowing that something was about to happen.
“How about you get your head out of your ass and actually listen for once?” Ohyul’s tone was a lot more venomous than how it usually was, his teeth were clashing against each other and his jaw was stiffened. “Look at what I sent and see if you want to add in anything.” He turned around and walked towards the vacant seat next to where Louis and Louis were sitting, taking out his phone.
“Son of a bitch, I already looked over the blueprint and there’s no need for a plan.” Ryul murmured, walking out of the room and back upstairs to his room. Taking out his phone, he looked over what Ohyul had sent again and found everything to be pure bullshit. “Writing out everything as if we're in grade school.” He scoffed before throwing his phone onto the bed, making his way to the patio of his room.
Back downstairs, Ohyul, Woojin and Louis began to talk about the plan and what they should and should not do. Though stealing the papers from the casino was a very simple job for them, they needed to be extra careful, especially with what Joshua made clear the day before of not having any casualties.
“I think it would be best if you just remain at the bar. Pick up a conversation or two to distract anyone, especially with people you recognize” Ohyul made clear to Louis before pulling up a doc on his phone. “Mr. Sato is the brand organizer for the casino so he’s always there on Fridays and so is Mr. Suzuki, the director. Talk about the recant stocks, the business regarding the hotels or the fucking horseback riding matches they like. Just distract them long enough for that asshole to make his way upstairs.”
Louis and Woojin nodded their heads, taking in both the information of the actual casino and what Ohyul had just said.
“Which side is the elevator on?”
“Back side on the left, across from the bathrooms. I think you can just cut the lines and cables from the ones that are heading up so no one ends up seeing Ryul.” Ohyul sat back down on the couch, thinking about what else they would have to do to get the papers.
“You should take the staircase, opposite of the one Ryul’s going to take. It’ll make everything easier so the two of you will end up on the third floor, just on opposing sides.” Louis thought having two people upstairs would make the chances of them getting caught close to none.
The three leaned back, thinking of anything else they needed to add in when they heard footsteps coming down the stairs. Ohyul rolled his eyes, knowing who was coming back downstairs.
“I always knew you were annoying but I had a little bit of faith in you since everyone keeps chatting away on how good you are at your job, guess I was wrong.” Ryul kicks one of the chairs and sits down, legs wide open with his chin leaning on his right hand. “You’re a fucking goody two shoes, Ohyul.”
Ohyul grinded his teeth against each other, pulling his hair back with his non-occupied hand while looking away, trying to keep calm. Ryul continued, wanting Ohyul to retaliate and punch him so he could finally have the chance to beat him into a pulp.
“Your plan is absolute shit. You’ve been working here for years and you still go off the fucking rule book.” Ryul flicked his tongue against the back of his teeth and sat back on the chair, purposefully knocking over one of the vases onto the floor. “We’re gonna get caught within seconds if we go by your plan.”
Ohyul, annoyed as fuck and exhausted from hearing Ryul’s voice, rubs his eyes with both his hands to both wake himself up and calm himself down. “Louis and Woojin agree with the plan so it’s 3 to 1.” It was Ohyul’s turn to start implanting his attitude and wanting to anger the bastard that was sitting in front of him.
“Does it look like I give a shit?” Ryul questioned with his left eyebrow raised before getting up from the chair and stepping over the broken glass pieces of the vase he had kicked down.
“The basement is surrounded with a total of 12 guards from each end so there’s no way Woojin could enter the room and cut off the elevator wires.”
“That wasn’t written on the-”
“Yeah no shit, not everything is going to be written on the blueprint. Does it look like the directors of the casino want to purposefully be robbed. Use your common sense for once.” Ryul snickered before continuing on. “Mr. Suzuki isn’t going to be there on Friday night so we need to go on Saturday because it’s not going to be packed on Sunday night.”
Louis tilted his head to one side, confused on what he should end up doing. “So what should I do?”
“Whatever Ohyul told Woojin to do, you do that. Louis, do what you always do.” Ryul smirked as he saw Louis roll his eyes after realizing what he was telling him to do. “You don’t like fighting right? So just do us a favor and catch some people’s attention.”
“Whatever.” Louis walked away and Woojin ran off behind him, leaving the room to be occupied with Ohyul and Ryul.
The room was silent, the two not wanting to say anything to the other. The only noise that was heard was the obnoxious construction that was going on nearby.
“Get the suits ready by Wednesday.” Ohyul murmured before walking upstairs, leaving Ryul alone sitting on the chair, examining the room.
He takes out the pack of cigarettes that was inside the drawer on the table next to him, lighting the end of it with the red crystallized lighter he always kept with him. With his head leaning back off the chair, he let out a sigh, watching the puff of smoke leaving his mouth.
⭑
Kim Ryul was the embodiment of a bastard. He knew it, everyone in the organization knew it and practically anyone he’s come across has made a mental note of it. Many would go on to say that he had a God complex which he just found to be an exaggeration.
Sure, he liked to boast around about both his looks and how smart he is but that’s just because self love is important. He felt the need to think highly of himself because he truly was worth all the praises.
Joining the organization at the age of 16 had added to his traits of being snobby and stuck up. His talent was noted right away by Joshua, making him one of the top thieves almost immediately which did wonders to his habit of bragging. Though his attitude made him one of the top people on everyone’s list of who to shoot when having a gun, his abilities allowed him to not get kicked out.
Ryul was never fond of Ohyul and he had made a pledge that he would undoubtedly dislike him for the rest of his life.
Was there sufficient reasoning for this?
No, there wasn’t and that certainly did not stop Ryul from wanting to punch Ohyul every time he made eye contact with him.
He disliked the way Ohyul went about with the jobs he was assigned and found it sickening how everyone compared the two of them but making sure to note that Ryul was the wild one while Ohyul was calm and observant.
Ryul was abroad on a job which was when Ohyul became an agent. Ryul had only heard about the news through Louis. The kid just wouldn’t stop boasting about the newbie and Ryul would get irritated by the second. The comparisons between the two of them were definitely made and Ryul hated it; hated how he was being compared to someone new but also hated how this newbie had just joined and was able to be compared to him.
Kwon Ohyul was the embodiment of an asshole. He joined the organization at the age of 17, around eight months after Ryul. It was noted by everyone from the day he joined that Ohyul preferred to be alone and to not be bothered which Woojin had failed to understand, hence why he was yelled at so often.
He liked everything to go about in an orderly fashion and would make sure to yell and put people in their place, especially when they weren’t doing things that he had ordered them to do. It was odd for most to understand why someone like Ohyul decided to join the organization, a place that was messy and out of order, something completely the opposite of what he was. But no one ever questioned him about it.
Within the first week of being a part of this so-called extravaganza, Ohyul had been told numerous times that he reminded everyone of this other agent that was a year younger than him which threw him off.
“So where is this person?”
“Oh Ryul? He’s out of the country with Joshua for this one job regarding an embassy”
Embassy? The guy was already at the level of handling missions regarding politicians?
He was intrigued and a part of him was even excited to meet this person to see how he’s like but what he was introduced with was something he never expected.
“Get the fuck out of my sight”
“But-”
“NOW”
Ohyul was standing on the edge of their staircase, leaning against the railing to see what all the commotion was about. He was confused as to why this guy whose face he didn’t recognize was yelling at one of the guards who was clearly a lot older than him.
“Ryul, stop yelling.” Jay had said, continuing to read the newspaper, not wanting to glance at the guy who was throwing a tantrum that was echoing all across the building.
Oh.
This was Ryul, the person everyone kept comparing him to?
Ohyul blinked a few times, trying to take this all in. The so-called “best agent for his age” in the organization had just come back from his trip and he was acting like this? Ohyul was disgusted, not wanting to hear the guy’s voice anymore, and walked back upstairs to his room.
It was from then that he started to get annoyed every time he had to see Ryul in the building. Everything about him was gross as Ohyul had said when talking to Woojin the week after the bastard returned from his trip; from the way he walked around the building as if he was some type of executive to the way he ate loudly which made Ohyul wince every time he had to witness it.
Nonetheless, most people did everything they could to ensure that the two didn’t end up working on a mission together because that would definitely result in some sort of hellfire, though that wouldn’t happen because Ryul worked alone while Ohyul worked with Woojin.
But, Joshua and Jay definitely did something when assigning the two together. It was something unexpected that had everyone looking in every corner of the building, making sure the two weren’t beating the hell out of each other.
This was definitely going to be an intense roller coaster and hopefully neither of them will fall, both literally and figuratively.
