Work Text:

“Oi! Mob! Over here!"

Shigeo had just walked into the café, looking around before eyes landed on the freckled boy with red-orange spiked hair. With a small smile, he walked towards him and sat at the same booth across from him.

“It's nice to see you again, Suzuki.”

“ The feeling's mutual! " Shou replied, with the usual playful smirk on his face. In front of him were art materials, simply a Sketch book with a mechanical pencil and color pencils just in case he decided he wanted to color his sketches.

“Did you bring your materials?”

Shou asked as Shigeo gave a simple nod, setting down the bag he carried to the side of him. Pulling out a simple red Notebook and pencil case that he had placed onto the Table.

“Great! I'm really glad you decided to come out and hang with me. It's nice to have someone to draw with- helps make things more interesting”

“ Glad to be of service, Though I'm not much of an artist…“

“Nonsense! Anyone can be an artist- even if it's just stick figures. If you ever need me to show you how to draw something, feel free to ask!”

Shigeo nodded in acknowledgement.

The café was cozy with warm lighting, the soft hum of a coffee machine, and the faint smell of baked goods. Only a few other customers were there.

A waitress approached shortly after. Shou casually ordered a melon soda float with a vanilla crepe since he'd been to this Café every once in a while. Shigeo just asked for Banana milk since he's not feeling hungry at the moment.

Once she walks away, they get straight to business. As in, drawing until their hands start to cramp and can't come up with anything else.

Shou was doing thumbnail sketches to get a feeling of what he wanted to draw- he didn't have a full idea on what he wanted to draw but he was getting some sort of idea of what he was going for. He then noticed Shigeo hadn't moved his pencil yet- and was simply staring blankly at his paper, pencil hovering uncertainly.

"Struggling with an idea? " he asked.

"You can just try making circles and lines until something comes to mind. Or even look around to see what gives you inspiration! The world is your oyster sir helmet " He said in an attempt of a weird French accent.

something that gives me inspiration…

Shigeo ponders a bit more. His dark pupils observe his surroundings, taking in everything his eyes would lay on. He was so focused that when the waitress came back with their drinks and pastry it ended up startling him- making Shou snicker while Shigeo attempts to hide his rosy cheeks within his pink turtleneck.

“ Aww, no need to be embarrassed, mob! You’re practically doing what every artist does- hell- even I do that when I'm in the zone. “

Shigeo turned his head to look at the red head, who had a lively grin on his freckled face. Huh. He thought, as from just looking at the beaming expression of his friend- he had captured it in his head as something he wanted to keep in his mind forever…was that normal? Thinking about it was going to make Shigeo even more flustered than he already is.

In the moment, Shigeo finally picked up his pencil and began to finally make lines in his notebook. Shou took notice, and immediately lit up at the sight. He wanted to say something about it- but left it as something to just take note of as it seemed Shigeo was concentrating, and he didn't wanna take him out of that. So instead, he just focused on his own drawing as well.

Every moment or so they would chat and enjoy their drinks and pastry. And the small conversation that Shigeo has, he’d make sure to get a good look at Shou before going back to his notebook to add the details he missed- Sometimes his gaze would accidentally linger a bit more than it should for Shou to notice.

“ Do I pique your interest? “

He asked in a playful tone, catching Shigeo off guard as he begins to stammer- trying to come up with a response only to gain a chortle from shou.

“ Wow, you're so easy to tease today. Relax. ” Shou waves his hand side to side, still wearing that cheeky smile on his face. “ You’re honestly really cute when you’re like this”

Well now they’re both flustered because Shou did not mean to say that so casually. Before anything was said- The waitress came by again to ask if they needed anything.

“ U-um... Water would be nice.”

Shigeo was the first to speak, and Shou followed up saying he’d also like one too.

As she went away, a nervous laugh left the freckled boy. “ Sorry if I made you feel awkward, mob.”

Shigeo hears Shou tapping his foot, possibly out of a nervous habit.
“ Ah. It's fine, shou...I just- didn’t expect it is all…Is that how you view me? “

“U-uh...” Shou gave a bit of a pause- before looking down at his sketch book and then back into his friend’s ivory eyes. “...Perhaps. Did you finish sketching by the way? ” He asks, quickly changing the subject.

“Oh. I did, it's not the greatest though.. “

“Nonsense! I'm sure you did fine. The point of creating is to make something you find joy in. “

Shigeo shyly pushes his notebook towards Shou for him to see. It was an attempt to draw him.

Shou stared at it for a good few minutes in silence before looking at Shigeo with the lightest blue colored eyes that seemed nearly silver.

“Can I possibly eat this?"

“... What?"

“This is the best drawing I have ever seen- tell me something you CAN'T, jeez!"

“ Well, I can't cook."

“ oh, well, I can believe that”

Shou snickered, rubbing his nose in a cheeky manner. Before handing Shigeo his sketchbook.

When he looked down at the drawings, it was really… amazing. Shigeo was really bad at finding a good adjective that would fit.

The drawings seemed to be of Shigeo and his different expressions which were three he's shown. Fully colored with colored pencil too.

“ You really are talented in drawing, Suzuki."

“Awwwe, don't flatter me… Just kidding, keep boosting my ego”

They both continuously had a conversation soon after, enjoying one’s company and the waitress coming by to give them their glass of cold water.

Soon, their hangout comes to an end as they both walk out of the cozy Café. Both keeping each other’s drawing.

“ Thanks for inviting me out, Suzuki. I had a really nice time. “

“Don't mention it! I'll be around for a while so just let me know the next time you wanna have an art session again.”

Shigeo would keep a mental note of that. As soon as they were both about to part ways, Shigeo decided to be bold. He tugged on Suzuki’s jersey lightly- gaining his attention. Before Shou could speak, Shigeo leaned forward to place a quick kiss to his cheeks before scurrying off.

Suzuki was so stunned, face becoming steaming hot once the realization of the situation struck him.

“ W-wait! Mob!” Shou shouted after him.
“ At least let me ask you out!! "
