Reborn in the Flames

Summary:

Set in a vampires SMP AU, Tango finally turns Jimmy, at his request so they can spend eternity together. Fluff ensues.

Day 3: Tango

Notes:

Heheh – Just because it’s lifers a day doesn’t mean I won’t bring other things into this.
Enjoy our favourite fake VSMP member turning his canary into a phoenix :)
(It’s actually mainly fluff this time!)

Also, this is set in an AU, where essentially Scott never went to sleep and there are a bunch of Kingdoms. Not too much you need to know.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Tango held Jimmy carefully in his arms, cradling his love even as he was awake. They were laying in his nest in the most defendable part of the castle, silks and pillows thrown around. It was a dark room, and Jimmy as a human could likely not see in the space meant for new fledglings. That didn’t stop Jimmy from rolling his eyes at Tango’s refusal to let him sit up like a normal person.

Jimmy’s wings were spread out across the floor, the space soft enough that laying on his back didn’t hurt him. Tango had checked dozens of times, hovering over his boyfriend. As much as Jimmy objected, Tango was always terrified he would lose Jimmy, the delicacies of humanity ripping him away.

“Are you sure you want to do this?” Tango asked again, as if he hadn’t checked a thousand times already. For such an old and fearsome elder vampire, he really was extraordinarily nervous about the little things. No other elder would hesitate to turn their love if they gave permission, or even if they didn’t.

“I’ve already told you, yes, Tango, yes. I want to spend the rest of eternity with you. Even with the blood.” Jimmy turned around slightly, shuffling in Tango’s lap, much to his annoyance. His golden wings brushed Tango’s pale skin with a teasing lightness, flittering away as he shuffled. Tango pulled him back in, closer, even if he was still staring at Tango.

“But it’s not a decision you can easily just take back-” Tango objected. Not that he wanted Jimmy to decline his offer, but he didn’t want his love to make a decision he’d regret. Vampirism had many perks, but it fundamentally changed a human and their biology.

“We’ve gone through this a million times already my love.” Jimmy pulled himself off Tango’s lap slightly to plant a kiss on the point of Tango’s ears.  “I’m certain, Tango. You can turn me.” Jimmy reassured, firmly, in his voice which Tango could never say no to. He met Tango’s blood red eyes with his own, far more innocent coffee coloured gaze.

“But are you a hundred percent sure?” Tango checked again, one final time and Jimmy sighed, running a hand through his hair that shone like liquid gold. How no one had stolen Jimmy from him he did not know. Tango had always been fond of Gold, far more then it’s weaker and less valuable counterpart, silver.

“How many times do I have to promise you I want this? I love you Tango, I want you, and I want this. Why would you doubt I’d be willing to give up my humanity for an eternity with you?” Tango inhaled a breath he didn’t need as Jimmy kissed him deeply as he finished his statement.

It was perfect, as it always was with his canary, holding him in his arms.

“…If you are certain my love, we can go on.” Tango finally promised when Jimmy let him go. He was rewarded with a gleaming smile and a light in Jimmy’s eyes, visible even In the dim room.

Yes, my love, go ahead… please.” Jimmy tilted his head to the side at his affirmation, revealing his neck to Tango.

Jimmy’s neck was beautiful, though peppered with small cuts from the few times Tango had fed on hm before. As much as Jimmy had promised he didn’t mind Tango was far too aware of Jimmy’s humanity to take more than he needed.

Tango kissed Jimmy’s neck’s before letting his fangs dig in, Jimmy tensing slightly at the brief flash of pain. He caressed his songbird as the venom kicked in, numbing the sensation of blood loss. Tango took slowly, and Jimmy begun to drift away, his skin going a deathly pale.

Tango made sure to stop drinking when his body went entirely limp, instead injecting him with venom and just holding Jimmy as the turning happened. Tango listened for the exact moment his heart stopped beating and unhinged his jaw, planting the spot he bit with kisses.

He watched as Jimmy’s scars and cuts all begin to disappear, the turning process healing the mortal scars. His songbird’s skin was colder at the touch, though Tango didn’t mind as he had no need for heat.

Pulling Jimmy further into his lap, carefully caressing the planes of his body, Tango finally watched as fangs shot out of Jimmy’s mouth, and the turning process was complete. Now he just had to wait for his canary to wake up and adjust to his new senses, now eternally his.

Tango tucked a strand of golden hair behind Jimmy’s ear and waited patiently.

It was probably only a few hours, but it felt like an eternity before Jimmy woke up, his eyes beginning to blink awake. They were likely still weak and adjusting to their new dark vision. There was a reason Tango had a nest after all. As he came to full consciousness Tango placed a gentle hand around his waist and moved Jimmy so he was resting entirely on him.

“Tango…” Jimmy murmured, almost incoherently. Tango wouldn’t have caught it if it wasn’t for his vampire hero.

“Yes, my love?” He whispered, gently stroking Jimmy’s hair. When Jimmy didn’t respond Tango just assumed it had been an involuntary response. The first few weeks relied heavily on instincts, which meant Jimmy needed time to adapt.

But Tango could wait, as he always had. They had eternity now after all.

Shoving his wrist into Jimmy’s mouth, knowing that he would need blood, Tango gently guided his fangs towards the skin. He wanted Jimmy to bite down himself if possible, practice the essential technique.

“Drink up songbird.” Tango reassured him as they sunk in, Jimmy carefully draining him of blood. Tango barely noticed the pain, not when he was holding the love of his immortal life in his hands.

When Jimmy let go, Tango guided his head back down to let him rest again, aware that these first few days were the hardest. He had preplanned to stay in here as long as Jimmy needed, with a supply of blood behind him.

As long as Jimmy’s turning went well, Tango was happy just holding him in his nest. His fledgling, his love, his canary.

Notes:

Awwww. They are so cute. I’ll be doing a variety of ships this month so this is my contribution to ranchers!
Yes, Jimmy is fine and wakes up later. He’s like -cool, I’m a vampire now! But is really just happy to have Tango.

This is a bit early because it already is the third of june for me, so ignore the date in the top.

You can talk at me politely (I didn’t give you angst!) in the comments, and on tumblr as well!
