Work Text:

Asa's favourite colour was always yellow. He never knew why, it just felt right.

Asa wasn't like anyone else at his school as a kid. He could always feel things, sometimes even see things. He was too young to understand it, although he knew one thing. Someone was missing, he never knew who, but he could sense that he was, incomplete.

That day, when that man walked into the shop, the feeling suddenly went away. Like he was complete. Like his world was grey and had just been filled with colour.

-

Anthony always loved the stars. He felt as if he was connected to them, probably just how much he took a liking to them. From a young age he knew exactly what he wanted to do, to make stars one day. Everyone told him he was just being silly and 'you cant create stars' while they were true, Anthony truly felt as if he could.

The boy was similar to Asa, he felt like he was missing something, someone. Anthony wasn't as shy as Asa so he told people. Everyone thought he was ever so weird.

He often got nicknames from the other kids some of which, he liked, and others not so much. "star kid" He liked that one. "half complete boy" Didn't like that one.

He never told people things after that. Instead he gave up on wanting to make the solar systems and settled on astrophysics instead.

Anthony was walking though soho one day, when he walked passed a small bookshop on the corner of a street. It was a blue colour, with what looked to be a flat on the top.

His gut was practically screaming for him to go inside. He had absolutely no clue why he felt so drawn to a random second hand bookshop on the corner of a random street.

Anthony knew to trust his gut. But he cant just walk in withought a purpose. He thought of an idea.

"um excuse me?"

"yes, can I help you?"

As soon as the man looked up, Anthony felt as though he knew him. Nah, he brushed it aside and thought he probably saw him on the side of the street or something.

Asa knew instantly something felt right, as soon as he saw the man Infront of him, he was drawn to him.

"uh yeah, I was just passing and I saw the shop. I was wondering, do you have any books on astrophysics?"

Both of their moods instantly changed. It was in that moment they both knew, I found what was missing.

-

(Anthony's uni which he works at)

Its quite a gloomy and rainy day, as most days are in London. Turns out Anthony has fallen ill while teaching. His first thought is to call his mother, but then again he doesn't have the best relationship with her. After a while he comes up with something. Call Asa. So he does.

"hiya Asa I've seem to have come down with something today do you mind coming in and taking the car? The busses don't go at this time so I'd have to walk quite a bit to get home. Its completely fine if not I just-"

"Say no more, ill be on my way." Asa feels great knowing he's doing something to help another person, he always loved doing that, let alone doing something for Anthony.

Asa looks at the car for a minute. For some reason he gets hit with de ja vu. From a car? How the hell does that happen? He sees a flash of an old fashioned car. A black one. Looks like a Bentley. He shakes his head, he's used to seeing weird things by now.

He makes his way down to Anthony's university.

"wow, that certainly is big." Asa exclaims, he then remembers why he's here. To get his boyfriend. Was he is boyfriend now? Asa sure hopes so as they have been going out a lot.

The blonde makes his way round to the reception, thinking Anthony would be there waiting. But, the only person there was the receptionist.

"Name and purpose of visit." She says, looking tired.

"Hello, I'm Asa. Asa fell, I'm here to pick up someone."

"Right, give me their name, last name, class, and teacher please, ill see if they are on the list."

"Oh, no I'm here to pick up Anthony Crowley? He's said he's not feeling too well and-"

"You just missed him, he was waiting here, he went to go use the bathroom. He looked terrible. He said he'd rung his boyfriend up to come pick him up, I'm assuming that's you then."

Boyfriend. Asa loved that.

"yes. I suppose it is." Asa says with a smile. For some reason, he does a flick of the wrist to try make the woman less tired. What was that? He thought. He cant do that? Why did he even try doing that?

A moment later, a very sick looking Anthony is walking down to the reception, smiling a little as he sees Asa.

"Come on dear you don't look too good at all."

"mmm."

-

(back at the bookshop, in the backroom.)

Anthony is sprawled out on the sofa, Face down, rubbing his eyes. God. He truly doesn't look right at all.

"My eyes feel like they are burning and my back feels like its getting stabbed! What even is this." He cries into the arm of the sofa.

"I don't know dear." Asa pleads, genuinely stook not knowing what to do.

Eventually, he decides the right thing to do is to comfort Anthony, so he makes his way over to the sofa were he's sat and let Anthony reast his head on his shoulder.

"Angel?" Anthony says. Angel? He's never called anyone that before? Why has he just said that now? Withought a second thought? It just came out as if he had been calling Asa that forever.

"Yes?" Asa doesn't even notice, its like he's used to being called it, even though hes never been called angel ever before in his life.

"I've got this weird feeling in my head. Like, I've got an headache that's normal right, but it feels like when you're trying to remember something and you just cant."

"Well, I'm truly lost for words Anthony, I'm sure you will be better tomorrow" Asa pleads trying to reassure him that he'll be okay.

After a while Anthony had passed out on the sofa and Asa had wrapped a tartan blanket around him to keep him warm. Asa couldn't help but feel sorry for him. But Asa has felt this before. When he was younger he also had headaches like that. Trying to remember things that he just cant put a finger on.

Its getting rather late, and Derek had just returned from... whatever he was doing, Asa didn't know, but he didn't want to wake Anthony, that would just make him feel pain again.

"Asa, you're down here quite late." Derek says, while turning the open sign on the door to closed.

"Ah, well you see, um Anthony isn't well at all, and I'm afraid he's passed out on the sofa."

"Right well then. I'm going upstairs to my flat."

There's two flats above the bookshop. Asa's and Derek's.

(23:50 PM)

Asa had been reading all night. He didn't want to go up to his flat and something happen to Anthony were he wouldn't know. So, he stayed in the backroom, reading a nice book he had just gotten into.

Anthony starts to stir, Asa notices and puts his beloved book down and goes to sit on the arm rest, running a nervous hand through his boyfriends' hair.

"Oh... I feel much better now... Its quite dark. What time is it angel?"

"Its almost midnight I'm afraid."

"You have got to be joking. Oh ill never get home in time to get any sleep."

"You could always stay at my place, If you'd like?"

Has he said that before? No have I said that before? I swear that's been said in one of our conversations? What? No it must just be me making up stuff.

"I'd- I would love to." Anthony says, in the most sweetest voice one could ever imagine.

-

(the ritz, the boys have been dating for around 3 years now.)

Anthony had somehow managed to get a spot at the ritz! How lucky! Asa was ecstatic. Little did he know that Anthony had something planned, something big.

Their conversation flowed endlessly well. It felt like they had known each other for centuries with how they talked about millions of topics. every conversation felt like it had meaning, like it was truly purposeful what they had said.

Anthony was waiting for a moment. The right moment. He knew he wanted to do this. He had too. But when would the moment come? He was thinking it would never come and he was just going to make a fool of himself. Then, their conversation ended, they had finished their food. The real perfect moment.

"I've got something." He says trying to hide the fact he's blushing ALOT and being heavily nervous at the same time. An expression that has carried their relationship for the last few years.

Anthony starts rummaging in his pocket trying to find the right one. Eventually he lets out a deep breath, having found the right one.

Asa is looking at Anthony, absolutely in love with him. Wondering what this gift may be. suddenly he is blown away by the confidence in Anthony.

Anthony had pulled a small box out from his pocket, placed it on the table, towards Asa and opened it.

"Asa fell. The past 3 years with you have made my life complete. I don't know what it may be but you, you make me feel whole. Will you marry me?"

"YES!"

(south downs 10 years later)

"Anthony?"

"mmm"

"you know that day when I came for you at work."

"not going to forget that am I?"

"quite. Well, I do feel as though im starting to feel what you felt that day, you know trying to remember things, back being stabbed, and well not the eyes thing as such."

"Maybe you're just getting old angel."

"maybe."

(19:41 PM)

"Aziraphale what do you think about-"

"What? Who's Aziraphale? I've never heard that name before in my life?"

"I- I- I don't know. I just... didn't really think. What the hell?"

Things like this started to happen more often. Anthony once referred to the car as 'the Bentley' even though they didn't even HAVE a Bentley. And a lot of the time Asa ends up saying Anthony's last name a lot. 'Crowley' 'Crowley' 'Crowley' What's going on!?

(11:11 PM)

Anthony woke in an instant, breathing heavily. Except, his eyes are funny. Oh. Its not Anthony anymore.

Asa obviously is startled and wakes up immediately. He is, still Asa.

"SHIT. SHIT. SHIT. SHIT. HOW AM I HERE? WERE THE HELL AM I?"

"darling. Its okay. Probably a bad dream that's all-"

"Aziraphale."

"Anthony, you've said it again dear. Who's Aziraphale?"

"Ohh god. Of course I'd be first to remember. I'm not being funny angel but what got into you to think that haircut looked good?"

"Excuse me? Uh... Anthony I think something's wrong with your eyes dear boy."

"Nothings wrong. I'm fine."

Crowley was not quite sure what to do in this situation. The only sound around him was Aziraphale- well, Asa's breathing. How was he even alive? How does he remember? This cant be possible. God must have interfered. If she did, Crowley wasn't complaining, but she really shouldn't have.

Asa takes a long look at the man next to him. Something feels different, wrong but right at the same time. He's conflicted. What could have possibly happened?

"If you don't mind darling, it would probably be best of you to go back to sleep. I'm sure you're just remembering something strange from a dream that's all."

Crowley realises its probably best not to try an explain everything to a human, and its probably better to wait until he becomes his angel.

-

(the next moring, 6:21 AM)

Asa gets up as usual, thinking last night was just some hallucination he had or something, he walks down to his kitchen and makes his morning cup of cocoa.

Suddenly, something comes to mind.

we've got each other. And we've probably got some cocoa.

Then something else comes to him.

I'm a fallen angel, I lied, to thwart the will of god.

And another.

you go to fast for me Crowley.

Asa cant handle it, he hurries over to the comfort of his sofa and passes out while all his memories consume him.

Crowley always knew when Aziraphale was near, he could sense him. As of right now, Crowley could sense his angel.

The demon immediately shot up from under his covers, Realised he was wearing the most awful pyjamas he's ever seen in his whole bloody life, miracled himself into something much better and rushed his way out of the room.

He sees Aziraphale, passed out on the sofa, he pieces together the scene, Asa got up to make something then he remembered and passed out. Of course it wasn't that simple but Crowley likes to make things strait forward.

He sits himself down next to the angel and slowly begins to cry. He realizes how much he never wanted to leave. How could he ever live with himself knowing he tried to sacrifice him and the love of his life just for a stupid new universe.

He sighs. He knows he lucky that he's even here right now. He should be dead. Well, should have never existed.

"Crowley?"

"Aziraphale." Crowley says with all the love in his heart. He finally has his angel. He can love him withought fear.

The demon pulls Aziraphale into a heartfelt hug, he presses his head into the angels shoulder, trying to hide his tears.

"Aziraphale, i'm so so sorry." Crowley cries.

"For what? Shhh shhh its okay" He says, slowly placing his hands down the demons back.

"For letting you go like that. I should have let us be selfish and stay together, were lucky we are even here right now."

"Oh Crowley, it's okay. Its what you felt was right. And it doesn't matter now, we're here now."

"Angel. I love you so so so much. I always have."

Aziraphale blushes at the sudden love confession.

He presses his forehead onto Crowley's and puts his hands around his neck.

"I could say the same." The angel is nervous, he doesn't know how to say it. What if he makes a fool out of himself? What if he says it wrong and Crowley hates him forever?

"I- I- I- I love you too dear."

Crowley makes a rather content noise and slowly brings his hand up to cup around Aziraphale's face. Aziraphale tilts his head to the side, he's utterly in love with this man, and he has been for quite some time. Crowley then closes the gap between them brushing his lips carefully on the angels, soft and sweet.

Then, they pull apart, with smiles as bright as the sun.

"So... I guess its just us and... humanity." Aziraphale says in a small whisper.

"Guess so. unless any of the others remember. That Derek bloke would be fuming knowing he set us up. " Crowley replied which got a giggle out of Aziraphale.

And so they could live together, for the rest of eternity, withought fear of their sides or god screwing them over. Truly what they always wanted.
