The long-term investigation of HEART (Humanity for Environment and Animal Rescue Taskforce) of an underground wildlife smuggling network, and the subsequent bust of a notable manor in Mary Geoise, has exposed the intensity of illegal wildlife trade among the elites within the Grand Line seas. Among those rescued are marine animals encased within large tanks for display purposes.

The proximity of Sabaody Archipelago to Mary Geoise has undoubtedly given the elites an opportunity to poach exotic wildlife. Multiple conservation efforts have documented the illegal trade, mostly involving impoverished members of the communities who were in need of money to survive (MADS, 1068). Among the most sought specimens are marine life and associated endangered species.

Public opinion has rallied around Monkey after a bodycam video surfaced of him punching a Celestial Dragon member who was physically abusing several animals and assaulting people who attempted to intervene.
Vigilante activism has seen an increase in recent years, with various organizations forming around the globe in order to work around their jurisdictions and local laws. Monkey’s own team, the Straw Hats, is one of the newest additions to the movement. Perhaps most well-known in the activist circles is the Humanity for Environment and Animal Rescue Taskforce, better known as HEART.
HEART is famous for its anonymity, although several recurring members have been identified and given nicknames by the public, which the group appear to have adopted in their Organization website. For instance, the leader of HEART has been dubbed “The Surgeon” in public forums ever since videos of them performing life-saving operations on rescued animals circulated. It was a name that the Organization have used since.
While generally moving in secrecy, HEART is also known for facilitating some of the largest trafficking busts in the last decade, with the most recent being a major break-in at a prominent Celestial Dragon manor.
