Work Text:
It feels like forever before Beau finally regains consciousness in the ruins of an abandoned mansion.
In her dazed state, she’s left trying to recall what exactly happened. Last thing she remembers is that she came here with the Mighty Nein searching for a missing person that could be tied to the Ruby Vanguard.
They had all finished their digging through the house when an ambush befell them. Of course there would be stragglers still loyal to Ludinus.
They put up a good fight, but were no match. At least, until the last of the stragglers pulled off a kamikaze move.
And next thing she knew, the whole house came down.
Beau coughs as she gets to her feet, managing to spot an unconscious Caduceus. She grabs a potion that miraculously didn’t get crushed by the rubble and it’s enough to coax him awake.
Shortly after, Fjord and Caleb are the next to be found. Then Jester and Veth.
Where’s Yasha?
There’s no sign of her.
Beau starts doubling her efforts in sifting through the rubble, digging with her bare hands. Caleb’s cat claw is thankfully able to provide some much needed help.
After quite a while, she spots a familiar bracer affixed to a thick bicep.
”I found her!”
It must be the sound of Beau’s voice that does it, because once she says that, the remaining debris rumbles and in one fell swoop, it is sent flying by the force of Yasha’s white angelic wings.
The barbarian then gets herself on her knees.
“Easy, Yash. You just had a whole fuckin’ house fall on ya.”
Somehow, that gets Yasha to laugh.
“Oh, was that all?”
She says it like it’s a joke, but Beau wasn’t making a joke. She was being serious. And when she looks her in the eye, the look on Yasha’s face also turns serious.
“I’m okay, baby. It’ll take more than that to get me.”
At this point, Beau doesn’t care how she looks in front of everyone. She just jumps into Yasha’s arms and hugs her.
The tears that fall out don’t stop.
