If there's one thing Loki hates. It's the fact time moves both incredibly slow or incredibly fast. It felt like just a few minutes ago Rin was this little owl under his care trying to recover from his trauma and now he's thriving on the field.
God forbid time move slower.
("You're like a single dad being upset his kids are growing too fast." Hugo mutters from his chair. "Do me a favor and shut your mouth. Do i look like I'm in my thirties?" Loki hisses)
Another thing that he despises the most are teenage hormones. Which means Charles and Rin are nearing... that.
Loki takes one deep breath in. One deep breath out. Preparing himself as he knocks the door.
"Come in!" Charles shouts from the outside. Loki walks in, looking at Rin watching something with Charles. Someone peeking over Rin's shoulder.
"Shidou?" Loki mutters in confusion. "Oh, hey Loki!" Shidou waves from the spot he has taken beside Rin. "What the fuck are you doing here?"
Shidou only gave him a shrug.
"Well, get out. Rin, Charles. We need to have a talk."
"Oh my God. Did you find out i used your card to buy todomachi life?" Charles squeaks out.
"That was you?"
Rin clears his throat. "Water under the bridge. What do you wanna talk about, Loki? Shidou. Get the fuck out."
"Come on, Rinnie. After i let you-?"
"Get out."
"Seriously?"
"Rin? What did Shidou do- You know what? I don't wanna know. Shidou. Just.. Just stay, it's nothing too-too serious anyway. Sit down. Three of you. Right infront of me." Loki massages his temple. Motioning to the table right outside.
"So. What's up, Loki?" Charles asks after prolonged awkward silence. "It's.. Well, uhm.. You and Rin are getting older. And you aren't little preteens any more. So.."
"Please just spit it out." Rin begs
"I'm getting to that, Rin. This is hurting me as much as it is hurting you." Loki says with a sigh.
"I'm pretty sure that's what only dads say." Shidou chirps out
Loki ignores him.
After he took another deep breath, Loki let out a exhale. "It's time you learn about the birds and the bees."
"Oh God." Charles mutters. "Loki. Please. Don't do this to me. Aren't i your favorite? I've been with you since i was younger! I'm practically your child!"
"Stop acting like I'm disowning you. Sit back down, Charles."
Hesitantly. The blonde sat back down.
"Since I'm guessing you're aware how that works. I'll be talking to you both on S.S.S— Safe. Secure. Sex." Loki says. Grabbing a box from under the table.
"What the fuck? Did you just have it there?"
"I didn't know you were sexually active, Loki." Shidou says with a grin.
"Shidou. Shut your mouth. Rin, don't you remember what i always tell you? Stay prepared." Loki chides.
"This is a different kind of prepared! I thought you were talking about always having a pen or handkerchief on you! You really bought a silicione to-?"
"Shush." He tsks.
Rin did shut his mouth. But his eyes were glaring holes into Loki's own.
The elder decided to ignore that.
"You see this? This is called a condom. We keep this to prevent pregnancy and STD. Since i know you both are definitely not straight. Pregnancies aren't the problem but diseases."
"Why would you assume we aren't-"
"You weren't raised in a barn, Charles Chevalier. Raise your hand if you have a question."
Charles pouts. But did as told anyway. Lifting his hand in the air as he would in a classroom. "Yes, Charles?"
"Why would you assume me and Rin aren't straight? I liked a girl!"
"Yeah. In a friendly way, Charles. Don't think i forgot your little fiasco with that kid from Ubers. You're fifteen. You aren't dating anyone. Not on my watch."
"Yeah. But you're gonna teach me about safe sex?"
"Do you want me to refund that order you made with my card?"
Charles clicked his mouth shut.
"That's what i thought."
"Yeah. That explains Charles. But not me. I didn't like anyone!" Rin retorts.
"That's.. I just know, alright, Rin? Father instincts."
"You aren't even their actual dad." Shidou snorts with amusement.
"Get out."
"Okay, okay, mouth is shut.."
"Anyhow. Don't try to distract me. If you're gonna have safe sex. Make sure you are prepared properly. Always make sure you have some sort of lubricant and that you are sober and consenting."
"When will this end?" Rin mutters.
"What if you're into kinky stuff?" Shidou raises a hand.
"Shidou. Get out before i do something time cannot reverse."
Shidou only smiles.
"Is this done? Can we leave now? Please. I'm actually begging you here." Charles says, eyes glittering just right.
"Whatever, yes. That's it. Keep it in mind. Always have lubrication, make sure you both consent, and-"
"Yes, yes, yes. We hear you loud and clear, Loki." Charles says with a mock salute, grabbing Rin and Shidou and walking back inside.
".. Works every time." Charles says to Rin. Snickering under his breath.
"He'll be participating in that public game soon, won't he?" Hugo asks, his voice lower than usual. He came to like the Japanese. Rin was odd. But he means well.
"He will." Loki says. Eyes darting to the pictures he had taken over the years. When they baked him cake, Rin's first day, Charles's birthday..
"You arent worried?" He questions, tilting his head. "Sae would be watching."
".. He will." Loki agrees. "But perhaps I've hidden Rin for too long. Rin wouldn't be able to thrive properly. Like a flower without the light of the sun."
"What brought this along?" Hugo questions again. "You seem quite somber with this decision."
"I was.. Expecting it. But Sae and Rin will face eachother again. It's unavoidable. After all, they're both elites in the same sport."
"They are." Hugo agrees.
They were quiet for a while. Loki's eyes staying still on the whiskey he's drinking.
"You're still worried." Hugo says. Disturbing the pregnant silence. "What makes you so sure?" Loki replies back with a small laugh.
"You have that look in your eyes. Where you seem resigned and confident in your decision but you're actually panicking inside."
"I can't really fool you, can't i?" Loki says with a short chuckle. The sound fills the silence. Before Hugo says quietly.
"You will never be able to." Hugo says. Loki stops his laugh.
Their eyes meet. Not quite leaving each other as they bask in the color of each other's irises.
Loki looked away first.
He always did.
"Anyway, thank you for talking with me, Hugo."
".. Right, you're welcome, Loki."
Somewhere, Rin and Charles were watching. Charles tsks quietly. "Come on. Didn't you see that, Rin? They were so close! They were so so ready to kiss."
"Loki is really bad at this." Rin notes with a somber nod. Charles sighs. "Won't they ever pull their shit together? Come on. They seem adorable. They'd be such cute boyfriends. Loki isn't homophobic, is he?"
"No. Atleast i don't think so. He seemed pretty chill when he said we were definitely not straight."
"Yeah. But it could be bullshit. You? Liking anyone? I think the Eiffel tower would grow first before that even happens!" Charles says before yawning. "But i am tired, Goodnight, Rin. We'll scheme more of Hugo and Loki in the morning."
"Yeah. Goodnight, Charles." Rin says. Charles was gone first. Rin stayed to watch. Julian and Hugo were so awkward.
"Still spying, Rin?" A voice says over his shoulder. Rin flinches. Turning around to meet pink irises.
"Fucking hell. Atleast make some noise. Would you?" Rin says with a scoff. "I'll be the judge of that." Shidou says.
"Spying is quite bad, Rin." Shidou chides jokingly. "What are you gonna do? Tell Loki? He'll believe me over you."
"Fair." Shidou smiles. Moving closer to look at Hugo and Loki. Skin close.
Rin's breath hitches. Hand trembling at his side. He swallows nervously. But doesn't say anything, keeping his eyes glued to the pair near the balcony.
"How about we talk in my room?" The blonde asks with a Cheshire grin.
"I'm bored anyway." Rin says. Dragging the blonde with him who didn't seem to argue about it.
"Did.. Did you hear something?" Loki asks, his eyes darting around the room. Hugo twitched. He turns his head to look at Loki. "No, not really. You must be imagining things."
"Oh. Alright." Loki says. "Another cup?"
"Sure."
