Summary
When Naerys goes to get on the ship, for a moment she looks across the Narrow Sea to the south. Somewhere down there, her mother’s bones rest on the Isle of Lys.
Maybe someone burned them in the Valyrian style. Maybe someone buried them in more Westerosi style. Naerys would not know—she has never stepped foot in her mother's homeland. Has never even left King's Landing herself.
But no matter what happened to her, Larra styled herself free. She got out.
And no matter how much Aegon raged and threaten to raze before he stormed out and likely rutted himself into one of his mistress’ beds—perhaps even Daenys sneaking out of the Maidenvault again—Naerys is on her way out of this place.
Like her mother decades hence, she is heading to a foreign land for a marriage that she would not have wished for if she could have had more of a choice, but also like her mother, Naerys is making a second bargain as well, that involves the possibility of her own freedom.
(When Naerys finds herself looking at the Stranger's arms, she makes a fateful bargain regarding her daughter's fate- the same bargain that her father and mother each, in their own ways, made with hers.)
