Work Text:
Danny got the mail as he was heading inside his house after work. He and his fiancé had a few hours before they had patrol.
After locking the door and taking his shoes off, he saw that Dick was already home and had already picked up takeout for tonight. While they (mostly Danny) did cook, they had specific nights for takeout, or if one of them was craving a certain type of food. While Dick was unpacking the takeout containers, Danny started sorting through their mail.
A couple bills, some junk mail, and something addressed to Danny.
Which was odd since he didn’t get much mail addressed to him specifically.
He frowned in confusion as he looked at it, trying to see if he recognized the return address, but he didn’t.
“Something wrong?” Dick asked when he looked over and saw the look on Danny’s face.
“Just that I got something addressed to me that I don’t think is junk mail and I don’t recognize the return address,” Danny said with a slight shrug before proceeding to open it to see what it was.
He bluescreened when he saw that it was an invitation to his ten year reunion for Casper High.
Had it really been ten years?
“It’s an invitation to my ten year reunion for high school,” Danny told Dick, still looking at the invitation and when the reunion was taking place. “I didn’t know it’d been ten years already.”
“You’re going to go, right?” Dick asked, smiling at Danny.
“I’m not sure…”
“C’mon, it’ll be fun. I’m willing to bet Sam, Tucker, and Valerie will be there. Plus, I could always come with you.”
Danny thought about that. He knew that his friends would probably be going, partially to see how everyone else from high school (specifically those they didn’t like) had turned out in the past decade. And it would be fun to bring Dick along. The reunion was going to be held at the school, so Dick could see what Danny’s high school was like. They’d been to Amity a couple times so Dick could meet his parents and spend time with them. He’d met Ellie and Jazz, but they didn’t live in Amity. At least not full time. Dani was currently going to college so she wasn’t at home for a good chunk of the year.
What would really be interesting would be seeing some of the reactions when people realized who Danny was with.
They hadn’t been engaged long, only a couple months, and they’d been waiting to announce it to the press so they could just enjoy the peace they currently had for a bit. Only their family and friends knew. Danny hadn’t been introduced to the press beforehand because the Waynes tended to avoid introducing boyfriends/girlfriends if possible for a number of reasons. Though the issue with secret identities with them being vigilantes usually wasn’t too much of a concern considering a number of them dated other vigilantes.
Even if Dick hadn’t known Danny was Phantom for a while.
The more he thought about it, the more he liked the idea of going to the reunion with Dick.
“Hm, I guess we can go. It’ll be interesting to see everybody, though most of my classmates I never got along with or liked all that much.”
Dick smiled and chuckled at that and the two sat down to eat dinner. Danny would RSVP in the next day or two, after checking if his friends would be going too.

Danny stood with Dick in his old room at home. They portaled in a couple days ago instead of driving or flying. They decided to stay with Danny’s parents for a few days aside from the reunion. After becoming King, Danny had gained a few more powers and gained some mastery over ones he’d been having trouble with. Like portal creation. He knew he could but he hadn’t been able to do much more than open small portals until his coronation. Clockwork had explained why but Danny didn’t retain most of that information.
The two of them were dressed in suits for the occasion, and despite Dick claiming otherwise, he still wasn’t sure he looked right in the suit. Though he had to admit he loved the embroidered details that looked like stars. It made his Space Obsession happy at the thought that he was wearing stars. Dick was wearing a suit that matched except his details were done in gold thread to compliment the silver on Danny’s.
Danny hadn’t really done anything with his hair other than make sure it was clean and brushed, and Dick had done the same with his. Dick had actually gotten Danny to grow his hair out a bit more like his. Once the two of them were ready, they said bye to Danny’s parents and headed to Casper High.
On the way they stopped at Sam’s house since she was staying with her parents while in town. Her parents had changed their mind on Danny considerably when they were told Danny was Phantom. Besides his parents, Val, and Mr. Lancer being told, Danny had given his friends the ok to tell their parents. He trusted them to keep his secret, and since their kids had been helping Danny since day 1, he figured they should know. And he was right: they hadn’t told anybody about Danny being Phantom. It also had the pleasant side effect of the Mansons being much nicer to Danny after everything he’d been doing as Phantom for the town. Though Sam’s grandma had always liked him.
Sam met them outside, dressed in a black and dark purple ombre mermaid cut dress. Danny had helped her pick it out before they left Gotham. She’d helped him and Dick pick out their suits (aka convince Danny to go with the more expensive and elaborate embroidered one) and also helped Tucker with his. Val had been portaled out to Gotham by Danny so she could join and she’d gotten a dark red halter dress. He knew if they didn’t take at least one group photo at the reunion, Jazz would fully kill him. So would Ellie. They both wanted to see how they all looked.
Once they got Sam, they got Tucker next and the group continued to the school. Val was meeting them there since her dad’s place was in a different direction from the school. Danny wasn’t portaling tonight to hopefully keep any of his former classmates from finding out about his ghostliness. He’d kept it a secret from them for this long and he didn’t trust any of them not to blab immediately after finding out.
“Wow, they actually spent money on decorating,” Sam muttered as they walked inside the auditorium. They’d met up with Val at the entrance and there were some decorations in the halls but most of them were in the auditorium since that’s where everybody was instructed to head to. They’d gotten their name tags at the entrance, too.
“Wish they’d put this much effort into other things,” Val muttered under her breath. “Bet it was donations from the A-Lister families.”
“Oh, for sure.”
“Who are the ‘A-Listers’?” Dick asked Danny. Danny just chuckled.
“The rich and popular students. They were four at the top in our grade and they were all members of the football team or cheerleaders. There were others but four that we interacted with regularly.”
“Oh,” Dick said, getting a look of almost disgust on his face. “Reminds me of Gotham Academy. I hated most of the students there.”
“When’s your reunion for that?”
“No idea. Haven’t heard anything about one yet. But if there is one, I’m definitely bringing you and showing off how hot and smart my fiancé is.”
Danny blushed a bit at that and lightly shoved Dick’s shoulder causing him to laugh. Dick excused himself from the group for a bit to go and check out the refreshment table and also use the bathroom. He’d also mentioned to Danny that he wanted to quickly check up on his siblings back in Gotham. There were a couple rogues that had gotten out of Arkham before they left that hadn’t been caught just yet. None of the most dangerous ones, but it was still cause for concern.
A couple of other students came up and struck up a conversation with them. Some of them knew them from clubs they were briefly in or they’d interacted more (read: not A-Listers) so they were somewhat comfortable with them. Danny saw a couple of the guys looking at Sam and Valerie with interest, but knew those would go nowhere.
One of those guys was Nathan and Danny could tell Valerie was not happy to see him again.

The A-Listers were looking at the crowd at the reunion, trying to pick out certain classmates. Some of them looked the same as they had in high school. Others had either glow ups or glow downs and were hard to identify. The four of them pretty much looked the same, though Paulina would argue they’d glowed up from their already good looks in high school.
It took them a while to notice the losers walk in.
They’d all been curious to see what they looked like after a decade had passed. They hadn’t really heard about any of them since graduation except for Manson being involved with some protests or something.
They were shocked when they finally found them in the crowd.
The first thing that shocked them was how well they were dressed. They’d found out Manson was rich sometime in junior year, but the others wearing expensive outfits was a surprise. Manson was still sticking to her goth thing if the colors she was wearing and her makeup and hair was any indication. Valerie, who was once part of their group, was wearing red which had become one of her signature colors in high school. They also noticed Foley, who’d gotten a little taller since graduation, and was still holding tech no matter what.
That left the fourth person in that group, who was currently facing away from them, to be Fenton. He’d gotten a lot taller since graduation and it looked like he’d gained some muscle. When he turned just slightly, the group lost their breath.
Fenton looked good. Unfairly good.
He’d grown into his dad’s height and had muscles from what they could see through his suit. And the suit was designer with silver embroidering over it in some sort of design that they were too far away to make out. His hair had gotten longer and he must’ve been wearing some makeup to make his eyes stand out.
Paulina felt her jaw drop open the slightest bit as Star nudged her in shock.
“That… that can’t be Fenton, can it?” she asked, in shock. Paulina took out her phone and decided to look him up to see if any social media, professional website, or info classmates had sent in with the reunion questionnaire they’d sent out had what he did listed.
“Hm, according to the questionnaire, he works for Wayne Enterprises,” Paulina said, reading through the information she’d only done a cursory look through when helping to organize the reunion.
“He lives in Gotham?” Kwan asked. “Isn’t that place really crime ridden?”
“Amity Park had ghosts attacking every day at one point,” Star pointed out, “I don’t think Gotham could be much worse than that. We were pulled into the Ghost Zone for a few days once.”
“Good point.”
“Hm, Foley and Manson also live and work in Gotham, though Manson didn’t write down what she does. Foley works at Wayne Enterprises too.”
“To be fair, Foley was always smart with tech. Fenton is a bit surprising though,” Dash commented, thinking about how terrible Fenton’s grades were freshman and sophomore year.
“I mean, he had really good grades in middle school and junior and senior year. Plus, he was always better in STEM classes,” Star remarked absentmindedly. She noticed them looking at her weird. “What? He was paired up with me for a couple projects in science class and he was so much better in that class than Lancer’s English class.”
“Think he and Manson are dating?” Paulina asked, looking over at the group again. It didn’t look like anybody was particularly close to anyone else. At least, not to the point of there being an obvious relationship. The trio had always been close in general.
“Can’t tell,” Star said, looking over too. “I know they dated for a bit in high school, but they broke up during then too. And he dated Valerie for a bit before they broke up.”
“Seems we’re not the only ones staring,” Paulina remarked, causing the others to look around the room. Some of their classmates that knew the trio went over and talked with them easily enough, but most everyone was stealing looks at the group. Valerie getting those looks wasn’t unusual since she was part of their group once, but the others getting those looks was definitely new.
The trio grew up hot.
Both Dash and Paulina were debating going over to see if maybe one of them had a shot with Danny, especially starting the conversation with an apology for how they treated him in high school, but somebody else made their way to the group first.
Valerie, Manson, and Foley all greeted the man as he came up next to Danny and put an arm around him before leaning in to briefly kiss him and you could almost hear a record scratch with the shock that just cracked through the room.
Paulina was looking at the new guy, trying to figure out why he looked familiar and then he turned the slightest bit and she could see his face.
“That’s Richard Grayson-Wayne,” she breathed in shock as her jaw dropped slightly along with a number of others in the room.

Danny smiled at his fiancé when he came over and kissed him in greeting after slinging an arm around him.
“Did I miss anything important?” Dick asked the group afterwards, looking at them. Sam laughed a little.
“Mostly a few of our classmates that we sorta knew coming up and talking to us. And Nathan was trying to flirt with Valerie. Again,” she said, ignoring the glare Valerie shot at her.
“‘Nathan’?” Dick asked, confused.
“He was obsessed with me in high school since freshman year. He started trying to ask me to senior prom during freshman year and wouldn’t leave me alone,” Valerie answered, crossing her arms in irritation. Sam just smiled at her and kissed her on the cheek.
“Hey, I scared him off pretty well when he tried to pull some of that shit again.”
“Oh, when did you two decide to start dating?” Dick asked, looking at them with intrigue.
“A couple weeks ago. Since we have portable portal guns, it makes it a lot easier to visit each other,” Sam responded with a shrug. Danny snorted a little since he and Dick would use his portals to more easily get to certain date spots or each other’s place before they moved in together.
It was partially how they kept their relationship a secret from the press.
“I’m guessing you noticed the people staring at Danny like he was a snack?” Valerie asked Dick, a smirk on her face. Danny’s eyes widened while Dick nodded his head.
“Wait, what?” Danny asked, looking over at Tucker who just shrugged. Sam sighed.
“You two are still so oblivious. Nearly everybody here has been eyeing our entire group because we grew up to be hot. How do you two not realize that?” Sam said bluntly, popping a hip out and placing a hand on it. Danny blushed a bit and he noticed that Tuck looked surprised too. Dick just chuckled.
“They are?” Tuck asked, sounding just as dumbstruck as Danny was.
“Yeah. And the four over there have really been doing some staring,” Dick said, using his head to motion subtly to the A-Listers, who the rest of the group covertly looked over to see. And when they did, they saw that each of them looked utterly floored at what Danny was presuming was the presence of Dick. “Two of them in particular were starting to look like they wanted to come over to you,” he added to Danny, who startled at that.
“Me?!” he asked in complete disbelief.
“Dude, why do you sound so surprised? I agree with Sam, you grew up hot,” Tuck said, laughing at the blush that was covering Danny’s face at this point.
“Are you going to take advantage of nearly everyone’s interest to get a date?” Valerie asked, raising an eyebrow at Tucker. He shook his head.
“No, I have someone else I’m interested in back in Gotham,” he answered, just a hint of blush on his cheeks. Danny smiled because he knew who Tuck was interested in. Dick leaned down to whisper in his ear.
“Is he interested in who I think he’s interested in?”
Danny nodded and watched as Dick smiled at that.
He pointedly ignored the looks the rest of the group (and the two of them in particular) were getting and just enjoyed the rest of the reunion.
And when Dash and Paulina did make their way to the group to ask a few questions, Danny did not mention the slight blush on their faces or the way that Dick tightened his hold on Danny’s waist.
