Work Text:
Both of them sat in their cabin. Lounging on the couch they shared. Builderman sat, his eyes closed. While Shedletsky was fidgeting with his wings. Trying to pass the time, but failing.
A song seemed to establish itself in Shedletsky's head. He started to hum it, noticing how Builderman relaxed a tiny bit at the sound. The two relaxed, Shedletsky humming the song, while Builderman listened to it, resting his eyes. Then an idea hit Shedletsky.
Quickly he got up, moving fast. Builderman opended his eyes, watching as his partner looked through the cabin. "Come on...come on" He heard Shed mutter, while looking through various drawers. Before he saw Shed's wings perk up.
He turned, facing Builderman. Holding a record, the sleeve simply titled. 'Waltz Music', and Shedletsky had his signature grin on his face. Presenting the music to him, Builderman sat up.
"What are ya suggestin' shed?" Builderman asked, seeing the grin. Before Shedletsky pointed to the 'Waltz' and tapped it twice. He watched as Builderman's face arched a brow. Then, Shedletsky tapped it again, nodding while pointing to it. "C'mon shed, ya cant be serious."
Builderman sighed, before pushing himself up. Taking the vinyl from Shedletsky's hands. He walked over to the record-player in the middle of the room. Uncovering the top, before placing the vinyl on top. Setting the needle up, and pressing play.
Music rang out. Filling the room with it's melody, before Shedletsky held out his hand to Builderman. "Care for a dance?" Builderman stared into his eyes taking his hands, smiling before saying. "I would love to dance with ya Shed."
Before Builderman was pulled closer. A slight blush dusted his gray face, making Shedletsky let out a small chuckle. The two found their rhythm slowly. Moving with the song. Tempo left unspoken, but also unbroken.
'Step, two, three. Step, two, three. Step, two, three.' Repeated in his head. He was sure to not mess up this waltz, but he seemed to not need it when he looked at Shedletsky. Guiding him through it. Making sure that the two moved as the pair they were.
They both seemed to lose themselves. After all, could you blame them. Builderman found no need to count any longer, and Shedletsky moved confidently. Sure in his movements, the sway felt like muscle memory at this point.
Holding on tighter to Builderman as the songs slowly changed. All of them held the same signature of course, but it came as a bit of a surprise to Shed. But Builderman didnt complain, only able to stare into his partner's eyes.
Suddenly, Builderman leaned forward. His head resting on Shedletsky's shoulder. He moved with him of course, but now he rested upon Shedletsky. "Dear, are you tired?" Builderman shook his head no, now only able to notice how amazing the avain smelled.
"Are you sure?" He asked again, making sure Builderman didnt need to rest. "No, no. Im fine dont worry 'bout me shed." He smiled upon confirming his partner was fine. The two still waltzing together.
Before Builderman pulled away. Stepping back, turning his head a bit. Confusion crawled up Shedletsky before realizing. He then followed, the two performing their needed steps for the move.
Quickly, they turned together. Confident in the practiced move, pivoting and turning. While the two gazed into eachother's eyes lovingly. After they were done, they returned back to their original waltz. Simply stepping along to the music.
After a few minutes of the simple waltzing. Shedletsky tripped, falling onto the floor. A laugh filled his ears, looking up to see Builderman laughing at him. "Hey! Dont make fun of me." Shedletsky's headwings started to cover his face, hiding his embarrassment.
"Sorry shed' its just, ya look so funny." He laughed a few more times, before Shedletsky's headwings uncovered his face. And soon, the two laughed together. Quickly, Shedletsky jumped up. Dusting himself off.
Before offering his left hand up to Builderman again, quickly Builderman held on with his right. The two finding their original position once again. Finding themselves in their basic waltz once again.
Songs changed, as they danced. But the two didnt mind it any longer, only glad they could simply be together in this moment. Participating in this dance, holding onto eachother closely. A symbol of their love.
As quick as the music had started. It ended, no more songs being played. Before Builderman let go of Shedletsky's hand, he leaned forward. A kiss being shared between the two, it was long and sweet.
But Builderman let go. Walking over to the record player, before quickly opening the lid. Then turning it over, for more music to fill the room. And for the two to continue waltzing. Setting up the needle, he clicked the play button again. Music filling their ears.
Falling into the rhythm once again. The two could only see eachother. As if the music was simple background noise, Shedletsky could only see his lover. Watching his beautiful eyes, and looking at his handsome face.
Before swiftly leaning down, and giving Builderman a kiss of his own. He melted into the kiss, stopping their waltz. As the two shared such intimacy with eachother, Shedletsky felt right at home.
He was sad to pull away. But, they went right back to their waltz. Just Builderman holding on tighter to Shedletsky's hand, hoping to never break this moment. Such a simple and sweet moment for the two.
As the music ended a second time, Shedletsky pulled back. Holding his arm out, letting Builderman spin alone. '2x2, he looks like a God.' Shedletsky thought. Watching him spin in all his glory. Before they pulled back together, holding eachother.
The two held eachother, moments passing by. Neither wanted to break the hold, but then Builderman spoke up. "C'mon we gotta go sleep ya big bird." Shedletsky sighed, before they both pulled away from the hug.
As much as Builderman wished for it to last forever, he knew they should both get some rest before a round. Even if he had to fight his brain to let go. Wishing they could still be standing together, holding one another.
Builderman looked to his lover's face. So handsome in his eyes, before grabbing his hand. Walking to their bed, pulling Shedletsky along. The two left the room, leaving only the faint memory of their moment together.
"Say, why dont we cuddle tonight. Alright?" Shedletsky's wings perked up at the suggestion, a smile on his face. Before he picked his lover up, holding him bridal style. Peppering his face with kisses.
The two entered the room. Letting the door click shut. And the moment they shared still ringing in their hearts. As if they were still waltzing.
