N25 had a problem. Not that there was anything wrong with the music, and they had been meeting up more often over the holidays… minus Mafuyu, who had been away for an extra two weeks (cruel!) for her nursing school.
So that wasn’t the problem, not at all. It was actually the fact that N25 were all stuck. Not in slumps, but in starting anything.
You see, it had been about a week and a half since Kanade showed up to any nightcord meetings. In fact, she hadn’t responded to any attempts to reach out to her. Neither had Honami, but it is significantly easier to figure out why.
Kanade not showing up was strange, but her absence could be brushed off for a week. Kanade had finally been paying a tad more attention to school, perhaps some assignments?..
By the second week, though…
"Mizuki, this is getting quite concerning, are you really sure we can just brush this off..? Even if Kanade were to be too busy to join any calls, she would definitely respond to our messages…"
Ena had been extremely concerned, and as much as Mizuki tried to assure her Kanade was fine, she was really just as worried. Why hadn’t she spoken to any of them..?
"Eheheh…Enanan, like I said, she’s definitely catching up on commissions and school assignments..who knows, maybe she even went to see Honami perform somewhere?"
Mizuki was pretty sure Honami and her band had a show…somewhere? Mizuki hasn’t seen any news on it, which was strange with all the traction Leo/Need had gained over the years.
"God, you’re hopeless. Kanade isn’t one to ignore any messages! Even if she was busy, she wouldn’t ignore us. That girl would probably respond to an automated message!
And Ena was right. Kanade was never one to ignore a message for more than a day. Plus..she took some commissions over nightcord, and she hadn’t been online at all. If she was just doing schoolwork, it would be so easy to respond..
"Maybe she accidentally logged out again? Look, we can go to her house and check, I’m sure it’s just something stupid…"
It was more for Mizukis sake than Enas, but it would be good to have her friend reassured. The worst case scenario was she’s having a depressive episode, Mizuki told herself. She was healthy now…right..? She had a few medical problems but seemed way better, so surely she hadn’t..
Mizuki definitely had to check.
"Why didn’t I already do that..!? Fuck..what if she collapsed or relapsed badly or..!-"
It seems Ena had the confidence to say what Mizuki didn’t really even want to think about. Kanade hasn’t relapsed for a while, but the possibility that she could’ve…it really terrified Mizuki.
"You worry too much, Enanan!~ well meet there tomorrow and make sure K is a ok!~
..get it..? A o-K!…"
Ena didn’t even get upset with her this time, that was enough confirmation that she had to make sure both of her friends were doing well by the end of the month!..
Mizuki hoped K was fine. She was, and she would be..Mafuyu would be back in two days, and Kanade would be back in calls…Ena would stop worrying and then and only then could Mizuki settle down.
Surely tomorrow would go well..!
