Work Text:
Jotaro didn't even realised when the time passed. Two weeks back in Japan now, everyday changing the bandages around his body, subtly making sure his mother definetly was back to health, not wanting to look like he cared. She could see through him though - how he did the chores for her even if he didn't want to, complaining quietly when cooking dinner for her, sighing in annoyance everytime she asked him to go to the store, yet he still did. He was a complainer, not a quitter. He still felt guilty about how he treater her when Star Platinum first appeared, even with her repition of how she forgave him from the start.
Neither did he realised how he ended up here, on the couch, in his house, with five of his friends sitting next to him, and hearing Iggy's ear-screeching barks in his ear. Joseph was loughing loudly at something with Avdol, Polnareff tried to get the dog off his head, and Kakyoin sit next to him, making for a wall between Jotaro and the rest of them.
It happened just an hour ago, when Holly screamed in exctitement so loud, Jotaro wasn't sure how the glass didn't shattered. When he came down, he saw his mother being squeezed to death by Joseph, Polnareff trying to twist between them as he welcomed himself to the house, angry Iggy already jumping on the floor and running somewhere. Avdol was pantiently waiting at the side of Joseph, smiling from ear to ear as he greeted Holly. But Jotaro wasn't focused on any of them. The red hair in the background, that's what got his attention. He now just realised, he didn't saw Kakyoin in two weeks - well, he didn't saw any of them. But it was Noriaki who lived rent-free in Jotaro's head, like a virus that was infecting every of his thoughts, and even his dreams.
They didn't had time for a proper date when in Egypt - not even for a proper confession! Jotaro still feels embarassed when he thinks about it.
It was after a brutal fight with a stand user, where both Jotaro and Kakyoin were left bruised and blooded, but at least alive - that was a thought that got them through so much. He just saw Noriaki's red hair mix with the dirt around him as they both lost consciousness, and he knew that Kakyoin wouldn't stop complaining about the sand in his locks once they wake up.
Jotaro woke up in a hospital bed, bright lights beaming into his freshly opened eyes. He tried to sat up, but with no success as he was wired down to the bed, and honestly, very tired. He lazily turned his head to see Kakyoin sitting on a bed next to him, with Hierophant Green behind him, a comb in their tentacle, gently brushing the red hair. Jotaro looked at the teenager, many emotions bubblying in his chest. Maybe it was the drugs they gave him, maybe it was the realisation they could die any day that gave him the sudden confidence.
"Noriaki. I like you."
Kakyoin almost jumped, startled by the sudden voice and what he said. Even Hierophant was surprised, their legs and arms changing into small ribbons and flying everywhere, hitting Jotaro in the face by accident. He didn't seem to be moved by it. And somehow, Kakyoin liked him back, and since then, they were dating.
And now, sitting at the couch, his and Kakyoin's knees touching - that was the most of public affection you could get from Jotaro, he heard Joseph's loud talk, as he dumped a bag of beer on the coffee table, already taking a can for himself, and pushing it a bit toward's Jotaro and Kakyoin.
"Joseph. They're barely seventeen. They can't drink." Avdol said, staring at the cans of beer and then at Joseph who just shook his head and laughed. "They were old enough to fight a vampire, they're old enough to drink!" Avdol sighed in disaproval, knowing he won't change the old man's mind. He really acted like was the oldest of the group, the most responsible, and honestly, Jotaro didn't mind his presence now as he did at the beginning. He took two cans of beer, giving one to Kakyoin who bowed his head in thanks, opening the can and taking a sip. He grimaced, looking at Jotaro. "It's disgusting. How can you swallow it?" Jotaro took a big sip, leaving only half of the alcohol in the can. "You just need to get used to it." Kakyoin shook his head, taking another sip with a sour expression.
An hour passed, and somehow more cans of beer appeared on the table. Kakyoin didn't touched another one after his first, making a face of disgust when Jotaro offered him one. Speaking of Jotaro - he was on his seventh beer, yet you couldn't even see it on his face, or in his voice. Well, maybe he did smile more than usually, his stern expression melting with every new can. Joseph had to leave, dragged by his concerned daughter who drove him home. With his age, just three cans made it impossible for him to function. Now Jotaro was less subtly than he thought staring at Kakyoin, who was laughing at something with Polnareff and Avdol.
"Hey, Jotaro," Kakyoin started with a dumb smile on his face, Polnareff's and Avdol quiet laughs in the background. "What?" "What would you do for fifteen thousand yen?"
That's how he ended in this situation, in the bathroom, shirtless, with a towel making for a blindfold. He felt Kakyoin's gentle hands in his hair, a malicious smile on his face. He heard a slippery sound next to his ear.
"Really, Jotaro, that's the most you could do for so much money?" He laughed, and Jotaro's brows went down in annoyance. "Be glad I even agreed."
"Dying your hair isn't something worth fifteen thousand yen, man!" Polnareff laughed, mixing the dye in a small bowl. Kakyoin was holding a brush with hair bleach on it, slowly putting the product on Jotaro's hair, the jet black hair slowly turning into cold browns and blonds. He doesn't know why he agreed to it - it's not like he needed the money, his family was loaded. And he never wanted to dye his hair, either. Maybe it was the chance to make Kakyoin laugh, a sound so beautiful he felt drawn towards. Even if he looked like an idiot for weeks, the ability to see the smile on Kakyoin's face was more than enough to be worth it. He just tsked, feeling the slight burning on his scalp. He felt Noriaki's hands in his hair, making sure every strand was covered. He liked that feeling. Before, he only touched his hair once.
They just went back to a hotel room, alone, with the rest of the group on another floor. It was the first time they were alone and could relax even a little for quite some time, yet the feeling of an enemy lurking in the shadows still present. It was awkward at first - after the talk in the hospital. They were together now, right? It shouldn't be awkward to sit next to Kakyoin. Maybe even hold his hand, should they sleep in the same bed? That's what couples did, right?
His thought's were stopped as he felt a cold hand on the side of his face, turning it for him, he could see the red hair before being pulled into a soft kiss, Noriaki's hand going into the back of his hair. Jotaro didn't moved from his place on the bed, closing his eyes and letting Kakyoin lead him. As he pulled back, he laughed a bit.
"You're a terrible kisser, Jotaro."
He never was the one to daydream, or even reflect on his memories. Not a nostalgic bone in his body. Yet now, just the touch of Noriaki's hands in his hair pulled him back to the night, blocking any sound from outside his brain. He needed a sharp tug at his ear to go back to reality. "Jotaro!" He heard Kakyoin voice, and Polnareff's and Avdol's loud laughter. "What?" He tried to sound how he usually did, unbothered, maybe even annoyed at the situation he was in. It definetly fooled Polnareff and Avdol, but he already knew he couldn't fool Kakyoin anymore. He earned a deserved flick of a finger on his forehead. "Go rinse your hair out of the bleach. We're gonna order something to eat." Noriaki said as he pulled the towel off Jotaro's face. He looked in the mirror, seeing blonde hair on his head. He also saw Polnareff in the mirror, holding his stomach in laughter as he pointed at him, and Avdol with a hand on the french man's shoulder, barely holding the snickering. Kakyoin hold his arm to his face, just trying to be polite as a wide smile showed on his face. Jotaro gave them a stern look and they left the bathroom, tears forming in Polnareff's eyes. He could hear their even louder laughing when they left.
He was back with a towel on his face as Kakyoin and Avdol were standing at his sides, both colouring his hair. He didn't let Polnareff near his hair, mostly because he didn't want to give him the pleasure of humiliating him, and slightly because he didn't trust him to do it right, especially after drinking. "So, what colour would you like the most?" Kakyoin asked, his fingers now massaging the dye to his scalp. He wouldn't let anyone other than Noriaki be so personal with him, glad Avdol kept it to a brush.
"I don't care. As long as it's not like.. like blue or pink."
And suddenly, the brush on his hair and Kakyoin's hands on his scalp stopped, even Polnareff stopped laughing. It was silent like that for a minute before the french man whispered to Avdol. "Dude... He's gonna kill us." Jotaro's brows went down, turning his head to the direction of the whisper, the towel still around his eyes. "I'm gonna kill you for what?" The three men exchanged glances, and Avdol put the brush down, before running from the bathroom, Polnareff behind him, leaving Jotaro and Noriaki alone.
"Good luck Kakyoin!" He could only hear from behind, and then a loud thump of the doors. Noriaki just sighed, a soft chuckle escaping his lips. "What did he mean, Noriaki?" It was first time Jotaro used his first time this night, something he only did when they were alone. It started even before they were dating.
After a rather tough fight, Jotaro was leaning on a wall of some building, blood gushing from his shoulder. Kakyoin was crouching in front of him, sharply taking off his coat. With a pull, he tore off the sleeve and wrapped it around the wound on Jotaro's arm. It was astonishing, how strong Kakyoin really was, with just the half of muscle as Jotaro, he wouldn't be surprised if he was as strong as him. It was something that first striked Jotaro in his heart - his strenght. But only when he saw Kakyoin punching an enemy into the face with enough force to make him fall down and lose few teeth just from the force, he realised how amazed he was with Kakyoin. If a way to a normal man's heart was through his stomach - the way to Jotaro's heart was through fists and punches.
Kakyoin looked at Jotaro, a worried look on his face - it didn't look good on him, he thought. "You alright, Jotaro? You lost a lot of blood."
"I'm fine. Thanks, Noriaki."
"Don't worry." Kakyoin laughed a bit as he finished the colour on his head, and checked the side Avdol was taking care of earlier. His hands went to the towel, taking it off Jotaro's eyes, letting him look in the mirror.
Half of his hair was a light blue, the second half a dusty pink.
Jotaro looked at him in the mirror, then at Noriaki's shaking with laughter figure. His brows furrowed down, a little bit of the dye dropping to his bare shoulders. "Something funny?" He said, his voice deep and almost angry sounding, if not for the small smile sliding to his face at the sight of joyful Kakyoin next to him. "No, noo. I think it suits you!" He laughed even more, his hands landing on Jotaro's shoulder and his head dropping down, as it that hid his large smile. "You should rinse it off now, I'm gonna heat up the food."
Even as his laughter stopped, his lips were still stretched into a wide smile. He leaned down, placing a small kiss on Jotaro's cheek, making him shudder. "Yeah."
Fifteen minutes flies as Jotaro takes a shower, rinsing the left over dye from his hair. He stood leaned on the sink, looking at himself in the mirror, the colours mixing in the middle. He never was one to focus on his looks, he didn't cared about the colour of his hair. It was the change that made him feel weird, after seventeen years with his hair black as a raven. The dye left some stains on his previously white towel, which made him scowl a little. He would just buy a new one before his mother saw it.
He headed to the living room, a shirt stretching over his large chest and sweatpants going down his legs. It was hard to go back from Egypt's hot weather into the cool weather of Japan. Jotaro sat next to Kakyoin, closer than he ever needed to. The redhead gave him a box of take-out rice and chicken, wooden chopsticks taped to it. They ate in silence for a while, Jotaro was glad they were alone now, without the loud laughter of everyone else.
"You really think so?"
"Think what?"
Jotaro looked at him, water dropping down his shoulders from his hair, putting the now empty box down, the smallest amount of blush on his cheeks. "The hair. You reallt think it suits me?"
Kakyoin chuckled and nodded his head, also putting his food down as he put a small peck on his lips. "Yeah. You look great. It's rare to see you in colours other than black."
He leaned in, their lips brushing against eachother in something that couldn't be classified as a kiss. Jotaro didn't want to make a fool of himself again, so he hesitantly put his hand on Kakyoin back, pulling him closer. Noriaki's hands quickly went around his neck, fingers in the colourful hair at the nape. He was getting hot - the same kind of hot he could only compare to the warmest day in Egypt. Kakyoin's tongue escaped his lips, slowly dragging across Jotaro's, making them open. Jotaro was tense, he - and probably Noriaki too, could feel it. His tongue fell down in his mouth, flat and useless as he tried to move his mouth at the same pace as Kakyoin. The familiar feeling of Noriaki's hands deep in his hair made Jotaro almost jump, his tongue now meeting Noriaki's, a small groan escaping his throat at the tiniest of tugs.
It wasn't until he heard the closing of the main doors when they pulled away from eachother, their heads turning to the sound - they saw Polnareff running from the house, phone in hand as the screamed to it. Even so far, they could clearly hear him, calling someone, probably Avdol.
"I just saw Jotaro and Kakyoin kiss!"
