Summary
It’s been eight years since Gavin Reed's life changed fundamentally. It had been eight years since he fully acknowledged his psychic abilities, and eight years since the truth about the Hidden World became the core of his reality.
In retrospect, not much had changed. He was still the same grumpy detective with a perpetual scowl. He’d just learned how to stop hiding from the unknown. He’d learned how to use his powers to aid him in the field. He’d learned how to accept himself. He’d gained a real family- and a husband. So he had learned how to accept love.
His life was perfect. Balanced. Peaceful. He had slowly, but surely, overcome his fears.
Or at least, he’d thought he did.But then bodies begin to fall across Detroit. Death is suddenly everywhere, striking without warning and with no known cause or connection between the cases.
And in the silent wake of each inexplicable death, the foundation of his hard-won certainty begins to crack, threatening to crumble into the same dark unknown he swore he’d left behind.
