Chapter Text
Kim Dokja was tired of this seemingly endless cycle of going back and forth.
Go to a foster home, notice how his foster parents were awkward and kind of hostile with him, go back to the orphanage. Because apparently not a single foster home wanted him, all because of that book...
But what could he do? Right, nothing. If that were the case he rather stay permanently in the orphanage than go to foster homes, at least here no one really seem to notice him since everyone here had their own things to deal with. Not that he has friends thought.
School also wasn't the best place to be. He had to endure the restless bullyng and whispers that followed him. His classmates purposelly isolated him, no one wanted to be with 'the son of a murderer'. Maybe he was destined to be a loner,
It was so exhausting... He just wanted to disappear.
The orphanage was more noisy than usual. A lot of people where whispering and talking about some mysterious guy who apparently is super handsome, the girls were specially the ones making such rukus.
"He looks like a model!" Dokja heard some girl say
What are they making such a fuss over???—Dokja thought,
Why would they get like that, it's just another guy who entered the orphanage. What's so special about him?
For Dokja this was nothing out of the norm, kids went in and out from the orphanage all the time. But honestly all this fuss was starting to annoy him.
To scape from this Kim Dokja fled to his favorite place: the library, a place that most of the people never came into. For Dokja that was perfect as it is.
He went to his usual place, the corner in the back of the library where a old computer rests. But when he arrived, someone was already there, it honestly surprised him since hardly anyone even knew there was a computer in this spot.
Kim Dokja stared for a moment at the person who was there, in 'his' selfproclaimed seat.
But as if the person could felt the gaze of Dokja, he turned around, their eyes met for a second before the guy started scanning Kim Dokja, he didn't say or do anything for a minute. His expression was flat but kinda irritated and a little serious, like if he was concentrating just a moment ago and someone interrupted him.
That midly startled Kim Dokja, he didn't expect that at all. He soon felt judged and so Dokja averted his gaze, trying to not make visual contact.
Maybe i was staring too much,
—He thought sheepishly.
But taking a good look to the person who just turned to him, he realized that the person was really, really but really good-looking, he did look like a model,
That girl wasn't exagerating at all.
His face had striking features and a handsome face but with a intimating aura that erradiated "don't come near me".
Kim Dokja found himself captivated by the beauty of this boy but before he could do anything, the guy sat up and walked past him without saying a word. Dokja just watched him go, the sound of the footsteps fading, Dokja turned to the computer,
Well that was..weird?
Quickly Dokja remembered what originaly he was here for and since no one was there anymore he sat and started to search for his webnovels, but while at it something caught his sight.
That guy left a page open,
It's a online game, a battle royale type. The game is still going tho... did he really just left mid play??
...
Did i make him uncomfortable...? Man, now i feel bad.
But before Kim Dokja could remorse more another player appeared out of nowhere, startling Kim Dokja. The player started shooting at him and by instict Dokja tried to move his character and run, but it wasn't much help, he kept slamming into walls and the player killed him after all.
Kim Dokja stared at the computer, a red text declaring his failure, the adrenaline rush subsided quickly. He just moved the mouse closing the page and instead read his webnovel, trying to forget that pathetic attempt of playing a videogame.
Soon Dokja became absorted into the lecture of his web novel.
The name of the novel was: "Three Ways to Survive the Apocalypse", he found it a while ago, it was a system themed novel. The protagonist was blessed with a curse, repeating again and again his life, trying to get through seemingly imposssible tasks.
It was pretty tragic, and in some way Dokja saw himself in it, he understood the suffering the protagonist had to go through, how it feels to be that lonely and have no scape to it.
For Dokja this webnovel was a way to scape reality.
It had always been like that, reading was his was cope with his surroundings. Let his mind get distracted in a fictional world that bringed him comfort, apart from the real world, away from his problems.
As Dokja was reading he noticed that the description of the protagonist weirdly fitted the looks of the boy he just saw. It was like if the character was based off him.
Thick eyebrowns slightly curved upwards in the ends. His sharp obsidian eyes that made you feel that you were staring into the void, adorned with long eyelashes that girls would envy. And his skin a bit tanned, but well cared.
What a coincidence..
Because of that Dokja couldn't stop thinking about that guy meanwhile reading. He just fitted perfectly the mental image Dokja had for the protagonist, (but younger).
It lowkey make Kim Dokja jealous, how can a person like this exist? Sure God had his favorites.
Kim Dokja couldn't focus at all in the words in front of him, that guy sparkled the curiosity in Dokja and his mind just kept wandering back to the moment he turned at him and walked past him.
...He was tall.
—Dokja remarked in thoughts
He wondered how such guy ended up here, and how was he still here, anyone would have already adopted him at this point. Doesn't he have pretty privilage?
But anyways, that was not his matter for him to stick his nose. Even if Dokja wanted to ask, that guy was too scary.
But that lingering feeling was still there, it only felt natural to wonder
Who was he?
