Chapter Text
It was pitch dark and the sound of rattling caused Miyuu to wake up.
"Hah...is it morning already...?" Miyuu groans with a yawn.
From the other side, someone or something talked in a hurry: "I better hurry up and find that uniform before someone spots me..."
"Urgggh... This lid weighs a ton!" The voice added. "Try this on for size! Myah-ha!"
"Now who woke me up! Show yourself!" Miyuu yelled, though her voice sounded playful.
With no warning, a loud crash was heard and a blue fire creeped in the coffin
"Ekkk!" Miyuu shivered up, "Bwaaah?!"
The lid opened, and into view was a talking cat...?
"Now to grab the goods..." The talking cat whispered before being caught off guard with Miyuu who was awake, "What?! You ain't supposed to be awake!"
"A talking... cat?! Did i reach peak Isekai???!" Miyuu said while covering her mouth in disbelief.
"How... How dare you! i ain't no talking cat! i'm Grim, Sorcerer Extraordinaire!" The creature called Grim shouted.
"Tch. Whatever. You... human! Just gimme your uniform and be quick about it!"
"Cause if you don't... you're gonna regret it!" Grim added then the blue flames from earlier appeared.
"G-Getting roasted by a talking cat?! i must be in Dreamland!" Miyuu mentioned then it clicked. "You-You can see me??????!!!!!!!!!" Miyuu shouted, her voice seems excited.
"Well keep dreaming, cause i ain't no talking cat!" Grim yelled.
Unfortunately for Grim, Miyuu ran off from the hallway to a classroom the courtyard lastly the library. Miyuu wasn't tired at all, in fact her eyes shone so brightly it was as if she was at the peak of her happiness.
"If this is a dream i don't wanna wake up!" Miyuu said—blue flames caught up to her, it was Grim.
"Foolish human! Did you really think you could slip away from ME?" Grim who caught up said arrogantly.
"Now, unless you wanna get turned to a crisp, take off that—" Grim was cut off with some rope, "Me-YEOW! That hurt! What gives?" He pained out.
"Consider it tough love." A man said walking towards Miyuu and Grim however just behind him was a short girl with really long hair.
"Ah, i've found you at last splendid. i trust you're one of this year's new students?" The man spoke. "My, were you ever eager to make your debut." He added.
"And bringing a poorly trained familiar with you? This is a clear violation of the school's rules."
" As if i'd ever serve some lowly human! Now lemme go!" Grim spoke—still stuck in the rope the man caught him in.
"Yes, yes. Rebellious familiars always say that. Do be quiet for a bit, won't you?"
"Mmmrph!" Grim was quickly shot down.
"Dear me. Of all the students i've dealt with, you're the first with temerity enough to open their own gate and step out of it. Not even miss Mirrath did that." The man spoke pointing to the girl behind him. "Does the very notion of presence elude you?" He added
"Hm? Who's that?" Miyuu questioned.
The man caught on, "This here is Mirrath, she waited patiently in her gate unlike you. However, this is an all-boys school which is why i had her join me to catch you who was also a girl."
'i was asleep.' Mirrath commented in her head.
"My name is Miyuu Amatsuki! Nice to meet you!" Miyuu extended her hand to Mirrath.
"...Yea nice to meet you too..." Mirrath said while shaking hands with Miyuu.
"No matter. Both of your orientation has already begun. Let us return to the Mirror Chamber."
"Student..." Miyuu whispered before she shot up with starry eyes, "You mean this is a school?! i get to be a student!" Miyuu questioned with so much energy that it felt weird.
"You awakened in a room full of gates, did you not? All of the students here at the campus arrived by passing through such gates. Although typically the students have restraint enough to wait until i open the gate before waking up." He finished explaining.
"So you mean to tell me that those coffins i saw earlier were... Gates! That's so cool! i hit the Isekai jackpot!!!" Miyuu shouted with a smile.
"Your lid blew off and the culprit appears to be a familiar of yours. You're the one who insisted on bringing it, so curtailing its behavior is your responsibility!" He demanded—clearing his throat before speaking again, "But this is not the time for such prattle. You have a student orientation to attend! Go on now. Make haste both of you."
"Wait just one thing please! Who are you? You look like that mysterious character type!" Miyuu questioned.
"Hm? Have you not fully regained consciousness? The time space teleportation must have addled your memories..." He mentioned, "Well, these things happen, i suppose. i shall explain it to you both while we walk. Truly, my magnanimity is boundless."
The three of them walk together through the courtyard, "Ahem! This is Night Raven College." He spoke.
'Sick name' Miyuu thought.
The short girl named Mirrath kept her head low walking along with Miyuu and the man being strangely quiet.
"It is an institution for students around the world over who demonstrate a rare aptitude for magic. It is the most prestigious academy of its sort in all of Twisted Wonderland." He explained.
In this moment Mirrath simply thought who in the world decided to name the world Twisted? Who wakes up one day and just goes "Oh yea let's name this world Twisted." Still, Mirrath kept it in her head.
"And i am Dire Crowley. Having been entrusted with its care by the chairman, i serve as a head mage." He introduced himself.
"Magic?! Academy?! An Isekai magic academy troupe!!" Miyuu commented
"Only those who the Dark Mirror perceives as having a talent for magic are admitted to the college. Those who are selected are summoned to the campus through those 'Gates', which can appear anywhere. A black carriage bearing one such gate should have come to meet you." Crowley explained, however...
'Eh? i got here by a strange mirror though?' Miyuu thought.
Mirrath who stayed quiet the entire time finally looked up and answered, "i recall a black carriage coming for me..." Mirrath said in a hush tone.
"That black carriage serves to receive a student chosen by the Dark Mirror. It too bears a gate that connects to this campus. And as you know, sending a carriage to meet someone on a special day is a time-honored tradition."
"i don't get it but i'll nod!" Miyuu answered.
Grim struggled to get out but nevertheless he was ignored.
"Now, let us attend to your orientation." Crowley suggested.
As Crowley continued explaining Night Raven College, Mirrath's attention drifted. Miyuu the loud girl was strange. She was constantly smiling unable to stay still. Mirrath wondered how someone would be so excited after waking up in another world, and yet it wasn't too annoying.
