you're it

Summary:

there were many things till hated in this world.

sweet coffee, construction traffic, calculus, io going on dates, and most recently, the university’s online newspaper.

most of the newspaper was fine, but the newspaper club had added a new column called ‘confessions.’ students could anonymously send in their confessions and the newspaper would post them. some students confessed that they cheated on exams, some confessed that they were secretly huge fans of unpopular kpop groups, but most people confessed that they had a crush on someone, usually naming said person.

take a wild guess which individual was anonymously confessed to the most and why till was hopping mad.

(._.)

(till is jealous that ivan gets confessed a lot to via their school newspaper column, but he honestly has nothing to worry about. ivan isn't going anywhere.)

Notes:

this is written for day 6 of tiiv week! dorms and rivals!
i didn't want to make tiiv rivals to each other, so that's how this fic came about! i hope you like it :)))

there were many things till hated in this world.

sweet coffee, construction traffic, calculus, io going on dates, and most recently, the university’s online newspaper.

most of the newspaper was fine, but the newspaper club had added a new column called ‘confessions.’ students could anonymously send in their confessions and the newspaper would post them. some students confessed that they cheated on exams, some confessed that they were secretly huge fans of unpopular kpop groups, but most people confessed that they had a crush on someone, usually naming said person.

take a wild guess which individual was anonymously confessed to the most and why till was hopping mad.

when ivan enters their dorm room, he sighs when he sees till furiously reading something on his phone. “till, please don’t tell me that’s the confessions page you’re on again.”

“fine. it’s not.”

“that was the worst lie you’ve ever told.” ivan settles on till’s bed next to him, plopping his head down in till’s lap without asking. “you’re just going to make yourself angry again for no reason.”

till grits his teeth, still scrolling. “well, people should know better than to confess their love to someone who is in a committed fucking relationship, don’t you think?”

ivan chuckles, rolling over to face till. he pulls up till’s shirt, places feather-light kisses on his tummy, and is sorely disappointed when till doesn’t react. “c’mon, till. it’s not good to fixate like this. pay attention to me instead,” ivan whines.

slowly, till’s gaze moves away from his phone to the pouting face of his boyfriend. “you’re right, sorry,” he admit begrudgingly. “i just... it feels like i have to fight everyone, like everyone’s my fucking rival even though i know they aren’t a problem in our relationship.”

ivan snorts. “hell no, they’re not. they don’t even register in my radar. there’s no reason to rage as much as you have.”

till tosses his phone aside, starts playing with ivan’s soft, black hair. “even if there’s no reason, they still shouldn’t be looking at you.”

ivan closes his eyes, revelling in the feel of till’s fingers in his hair. “the nature of the column is to confess things you usually wouldn’t. it’s to be expected. besides, i’m not the only person in a relationship that’s been confessed to.”

till rolls his eyes. “well, i don’t really care about them. i care about you.”

something inexplicably warm settles in ivan’s chest and it overwhelms him. he places more kisses along till’s stomach, smiles smugly when he sees till finally blush. “good,” he says softly, murmuring the words against till’s skin. “care about me more. i want you to.”

“idiot,” till mutters. when ivan closes his eyes again, till slowly reaches back for his phone and starts scrolling through the confessions page. he’s sure ivan knows what he’s doing, but his boyfriend decides not to call him out on it. suddenly, till comes to a stop on a particular confession.

“holy fuck.”

ivan opens one eyes. “what is it? what did you find?”

without a word, till lowers the phone so that ivan can read.

anon1742: till-hyung, i’ve only talked to you once, but i think you’re super ccol! if you weren’t dating the football captain, i’d try to shoot my shot! omg, i hope you don’t see this!!

ivan blinks, reading through the words twice, thrice, and then a fourth time. he sits up suddenly, startling till, and grabs the phone out of till’s hand.

“whoa, what’s up?” till asks, confused.

ivan reads the confession for a final time before turning accusing eyes at till. “have you been seducing a junior without my permission?”

till gapes. “excuse me? i don’t know who this is! besides, they said i only talked to them once. it must have been at a club event or something.”

ivan groans. “a club event, where you’re singing and playing guitar and you’re at your most sexiest because you’re entirely in your element. great, just great.”

till laughs, pleased at this reaction. “oh, c’mon. this person isn’t ever going to talk to me. they don’t have the guts because they’re too afraid of my big, strong jock boyfriend.”

but ivan isn’t appeased. “so if i wasn’t around, you’d be dating this person? is that what you’re saying?”

“when did i say that, idiot? if you weren’t around, i wouldn’t be dating anyone.”

“well, why not?” ivan demands. “you’re a catch. you should have a million people running after you wanting to be your husband.”

till blushes. “what are you saying?” he grumbles. “listen, i’m not marrying anyone if they’re not you. so don’t worry about useless things.”

at this, ivan lights up. he drops till’s phone and grabs till by the shoulders. “you’re gonna marry me?” he asks, awestruck. “we’re getting married? is this a proposal?”

till turns beet red. “no! i ain’t marrying you! it’s not even legal in korea!”

“but you just said!”

“i said i’m not marrying anyone if they’re not you. but it doesn’t mean i want to get married!” till exclaims, trying to push ivan off him. “besides, what are we gonna do? travel to america just to get married? that’s dumb.”

“well, why can’t we?” ivan pouts, pulling out the puppy eyes. “my family’s rich. we can totally afford the trip. we’ll do it like in the movies! travel to vegas, get stupid drunk, end up at those drive-in chapels and get married like that! we’ll go on a honeymoon to the bahamas or something and you can fuck me hard until i flop!”

till screeches. “we are not doing that! i mean, we can... we can move in together or something,” he suggests, looking away, suddenly shy, “and we can celebrate our anniversary like we usually do, and well... we can just make a promise to always be there for each other.”

ivan’s eyes are wide. “till... you really want to be with me for the rest of your life?”

“well, why not?” till shrugs, still not meeting ivan’s gaze. “you’re the only person i can stand to be around for long, so... it’ll just have to be you. you’re it.”

“i’m it,” ivan repeats, voice hollow.

within two seconds, till is captured between ivan’s arms as the jock engulfs his boyfriend in a tight hug.

“tilly, i love you!!”

till glances at his phone laying on the bed, screen still open on the confessions page, and chuckles. he returns ivan’s hug, nuzzling into ivan’s chest and closing his eyes.

“yeah, i love you too.”

till’s heart feels at ease. no matter how annoying his anonymous rivals are, they’ll never get to hear these words from ivan. they’re reserved only for till.

and that’s how it’ll be for the rest of their lives, if till has his way.
