Joshua Hong[1] (born December 30, 1995)[2] is a Korean-American singer-songwriter, YouTuber, and actor. In 2012, he garnered one million subscribers on YouTube after posting eighteen different covers of "Sunday Morning (Maroon 5 song)" within the span of six months. He released his debut studio album These Nights in 2014 and additional extended plays (EPs) Hypothetical Love (2016) and Idle (2019). In 2021, Hong began pursuing a career in acting and has appeared in supporting roles in the films Blindsided (2022) and To My Keeper (2024).
Joshua was born in Los Angeles, California on December 30, 1995. Since he was a child, he had a natural affinity toward music. His interest began when he was gifted an acoustic guitar at the age of 5.[3] Hong created his first YouTube channel, joshuacoustic, in 2006 where he began uploading acoustic cover versions of songs.[4]
By 2009 he branched out from covers into video blogs talking about the songwriting process, his interests, and daily life living in Los Angeles.[5] While attending Downtown Magnets High School, his internet presence skyrocketed with his comedic endeavors including sketch comedy, Vines, and covers. Starting in September of 2012, Joshua uploaded eighteen different back to back covers of "Sunday Morning (Maroon 5 song)" over six months. This included covers like "Sunday Morning (Acoustic Cover)", "Sunday Morning (Bossa Nova cover)", and "Sunday Morning (Korean Cover).
Joshua came out as gay in 2013 through his video titled "Coming Out". The following day, he announced that he would be releasing his first extended play (EP) Call Home, which includes themes of sexuality, identity, love, and youth. He released his debut album These Nights in 2014.
After graduating from Downtown Magnets High School in 2013, he studied Business Economics at UCLA. While attending, he continued to work on his music on the side and released an additional EP Idle. At the same time, he was drawn to classes at UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television (UCLA TFT). This sparked his newest artistic pursuit. Shortly after, Joshua began acting in students films and as a backround extra.

Wen Junhui (Chinese:文俊辉; pinyin: Wén Jùnhuī; born 10 June 1996) [1][2] is a Chinese actor and singer. He began his career in the entertainment industry as a child actor, starring in multiple films including The Pye Dog (2007), The Legend is Born: Ip Man (2010), and Chinese web drama Intouchable (2015). Since then, he has appeared in a number of other film and television productions, including Tomorrow, Farewell (2017), Across the Sky (2018), Emperor’s Jade (2019), To My Heart, My Love (2021), Exclusive Fairytale (2023), and The One (2024). As a singer, Wen released multiple songs including “Can you sit by my side?”, “Crow”, “Silent Boarding Gate”, “Limbo” and “Psycho”.
Wen Junhui was born on 10 June 1996. He grew up in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China.[3] He learned wushu since he was young, with aspirations of becoming a martial arts actor like Jackie Chan.[4]
In 1998, Junhui began his acting career at the age of two when he was cast in his first commercial. He has appeared in numerous television series, including Dragon Laws (特警飞龙) at the age of five.[5] In 2007, he starred alongside Eason Chanin the film The Pye Dog [zh], for which he won the Silver Award for "New Performer of the Year" at the 2007 Hong Kong Film Directors' Guild Awards. He was also nominated for the Best New Performer of the 27th Hong Kong Film Awards in 2008 for the same film.[6] In 2010, he played the young Ip Man in The Legend Is Born: Ip Man.[7] In 2014, he was cast in the Chinese web drama Intouchable.[8]
Junhui released his first solo song and special single album Can You Sit By My Side (能不能坐在我身旁), which he co-wrote lyrics for, on 14 December 2018.[9][10] In July 2019, he filmed a music video for the NetEase mobile game A Dream of Jianghu (一梦江湖).[11] In 2020, he participated in the soundtrack of The King: Eternal Monarch with the song "Dream".[12]
On 5 February 2021, Jun released the single "Crow" (乌鸦); it was later repackaged onto his second single album Silent Boarding Gate (寂寞号登机口) released on 14 February.[13] His single "Crow" entered the Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart at number 14 after less than one week of its release, marking Jun's debut as a solo artist on the Billboard charts.[14]

BIG EXPECTATIONS FOR THIS LONG-AWAITED ADAPTATION
Oscar Wilde originally published a novella in a July 1890 issue of Lippincott’s Monthly Magazine. By 1891, Wilde had revised, expanded, and finalized his only novel, The Picture of Dorian Gray. This gothic horror and philosophical fiction would stand the test of time with its depiction of a beautiful young man who purchases eternal youth at the expense of his soul. Dorian Gray’s enduring legacy has led to numerous adaptations over the years, a testament to the draw of late nineteenth century moral ambivalence and homoerotic desire.
This new film adaptation is set to be produced and distributed by CJ ENM — who is also known for projects like The Handmaiden, Parasite, and Past Lives. For years, rumors have been built around this transgressive reimagining of the British aristocracy into a Pan-Asian, queer-forward meditation on what truly makes for moral corruption and hedonism when beauty is everything. But for a long time, the question remained: who is Dorian Gray?
Joshua Hong just announced he landed the part via a cryptic post on his Instagram handle, with an image of him looking into a fractured mirror. He captioned the singular photo with, “I am jealous of everything whose beauty does not die. I am jealous of the portrait you have painted of me. Why should it keep what I must lose?”
Fans of Hong have speculated this to be a clear sign of his casting, citing the unusual post as a departure from his typical feed posting acoustic covers and candid portraits. They have also noted how he wiped his entire feed prior and changed his bio to a singular emoji “🪞”.

Joshua Hong was seen attending the premiere of ‘The Watchful Moon’ on April 19, 2026, which stars Wen Junhui as the main lead.
Let’s paint the full picture here, shall we? There can only be one Dorian Gray for the upcoming adaptation by CJ ENM and Joshua was revealed to be the one. Junhui came under fire this past January for his Twitter post allegedly dissing Joshua, with rumors speculating that Junhui was in auditions and talks for the part. Joshua’s response to the diss was posted on his Instagram story a few days later, to the tune of Successful by Ariana Grande. Now that’s the kind of salt we haven’t seen since Salt Bae. You have to admit, they have quite the flair.
Since then, we’ve been tracking an interesting sequence of events—whether you believe it’s coincidental or intentional attempts to draw the spotlight, it’s up for debate. Tensions have reached a boiling point now that Joshua walked the red carpet for the premiere of ‘The Watchful Moon’. Joshua smirked when he heard the restroom door open.
“What are you doing here?” he heard.
He didn’t look up right away from washing his hands, but he almost wanted to. Almost. Warm breath brushed over the back of his neck. The other man was so worked up, so angry, all because of him. Something about it made Joshua feel satisfied.
“You came all the way here and now you have the nerve to ignore me?”
Joshua looked up at his reflection. Behind him, Jun’s stare was thunderous.
“You wanna talk about nerve?” He turned around and flicked the dripping water from his hands onto Jun’s face. He delighted in the reaction—Jun’s quick blinks, the scowl deepening on his mouth, and the blaze of fury in his dark orbs. “Is this bold?” Joshua pushed up closer toward Jun, who backed away from his proximity. A little more. Another step.“Is this a risk?”
Jun’s eyes flashed. Joshua tracked the movement, the tension in the veins on his neck as the other man swallowed down his insults. “What do you want?” Jun demanded.
“You can’t stand that I was better than you. You can’t stand me and you think I’d let you walk all over me? Make a fool out of me? Go fuck yourself.” Joshua had pushed too close, so much so that Jun’s breath ghosted against his. “No, I came here to do one thing.”
With that, Joshua closed the gap between them. Their lips met, but make no mistake. This wasn’t a romance. This wasn’t a nice and playful resolution. Their teeth clashed together, as if they wanted to destroy and take. Even in that moment, Joshua and Jun had something to prove.
Joshua shoved Jun toward the largest stall and locked them in. Jun was already grabbing for him, trying to get his teeth on Joshua’s neck. Joshua wouldn’t give up that easily. He dropped to his knees. He didn’t care about anything else. In fact, what he cared the most about was humiliating Jun like he humiliated him.

this was a surprise for many reasons. i’m always skeptical when there’s a lot of hype surrounding a film. not because i don’t believe in it but because i don’t want it to impact my viewing experience. there was no way to come into this blindly since i was already rooting for joshua and junhui from their previous work and everyone and their mom is buzzing about it. i’m happy to say The Other blew my expectations out of the water.
what surprised me the most was how this film exceptionally controls mood and atmosphere. i’m not just glazing here. there’s this air of fatigue that pulls you in but it’s never indulgent because they balance it with dry humor that lands. it all ties in with themes about your sense of self, desire, and conformity. when you’re queer and trying to find yourself, sometimes you try to find yourself in others. this film takes that idea to the max. what if you were a guy who’s kinda lost to even yourself but you get the chance to work with and seduce this other guy who has everything you could ever want? but what if that other guy has been down this road before and has his own motivations you’re completely blind to? it’s sick and sexy and surreal.
where do i start with joshua and junhui? you know, a big thing is that they don’t overshadow each other. ironic because their characters try to but as main leads they play perfect opposites. they deserve all the awards and more for their standout performances. the nuances in their expressions gave me chills. it’s smart, well-written, and keeps you on your toes for every last second. i can’t wait to rewatch
