Maverick clenches his fingers around the edge of the wooden podium at the front of the classroom. The back of his neck heats, the collar of his flight suit suddenly feeling uncomfortably snug.
"I'm - ah - fine, thank you, Lieutenant," he says, voice a little more strangled than normal.
Cyclone isn't in the room, but the Alpha is still finding ways to make it so Maverick is always thinking about him. As if he's never not.
Maverick had been crushing on Cyclone, half in love with him really for months, when the Alpha had taken the plunge for both of them and changed the dynamic of their relationship. Punishing Maverick for a flight manoeuvre he knows he shouldn't have made, and playing his body like a fucking fiddle.
