Work Text:

"Atsushi-kun, pay attention to me," Dazai said with a pout when the younger detective was more focused on his report than on him.

"I can't, Dazai-san. I need to finish this report before Kunikida-san gets back." Atsushi explained as he tried to shrug Dazai off his shoulder. He was nowhere near completing it because the brunet kept distracting him all afternoon, and he didn't want to get another lecture from Kunikida.

"You don't want to turn out like Kunikida-kun, right? I can't lose you," Dazai whined. He didn't know what he would do if Atsushi became a workaholic. He would do everything in his power to stop that from happening. Dazai let out a yelp when someone hit the back of his head.

"Stop trying to corrupt Atsushi into having zero work ethic like you," snapped Chuuya.

Dazai narrowed his eyes at the redhead. "I suppose it could be worse, Atsushi-kun could have your taste in hats."

Chuuya grabbed Dazai by the collar as he dared him to repeat that, "Do you want to say that again, mackerel?"

"Chuuya-san, welcome back. Did everything go okay?" Atsushi interjected before the two started fighting. The last thing they needed was for Dazai and Chuuya to break more things in the office. Kunikida had already been complaining that the budget for the month was nearly overspent, and it was only the beginning of the month.

All the anger vanished when Chuuya let go of Dazai and turned towards Atsushi. "It was easy. I don't know why the police couldn't have solved it themselves."

"I think you're underestimating your detective skills," remarked Atsushi. He noticed that even though Chuuya wasn't at Ranpo and Dazai's level of intelligence, he was very smart, and a lot of people seemed to underestimate him. Which never ended well for any of those people.

Dazai clung to Atsushi's arm and protested, "Don't pay attention to the slug. Pay attention to me, Atsushi-kun."

Atsushi chuckled at the brunet's antics, "Dazai-san, I've been talking to you all morning."

"But I want your eyes on me at all times." Dazai purred.

Atsushi could feel the blush creeping onto his face. Dazai always caught him off guard when he said things like that.

Chuuya gently cupped Atsushi's face so that the younger man would have no choice but to look at him. "Ignore him and just look at me, Atsushi."

"Stop teasing me," Atsushi whispered as he averted his eyes. He didn't think his heart could take any more of their teasing. Atsushi was pretty certain the whole office could hear how loudly his heart was beating.

"We're not." Dazai and Chuuya denied without hesitation.

"Right," Atsushi muttered quietly, not believing them for a second.

Ranpo slammed his hands down on the desk in frustration, "I can't take it," he groaned before marching over towards the confused detectives. "You three are going on a date right now and don't think about coming back until you all sort your feelings out."

"W-what?"

"I can't stand the flirting any longer," Ranpo complained. The sweetness with oblivious Atsushi and then whatever Dazai and Chuuya had going on with their bickering. Watching them make no progress in their relationship over the past couple of weeks was driving him crazy.

Atsushi was sure his face was on fire because of Ranpo's accusation. "They're not flirting with me," he blurted. There was no way either Chuuya or Dazai would ever give him the time of day in a romantic manner.

"We are." Both Chuuya and Dazai exclaimed. They suddenly glance at each other, a slight blush forming on their cheeks.

"Really?" Atsushi asked. He felt like he had to be dreaming because how could it be true?

"We like you, Atsushi," Chuuya confessed. It's not how he planned on confessing. The office didn't scream romantic, but he'd have to get over it. He'd have to have a word with Ranpo later for ruining it.

Dazai grinned as he grabbed Atsushi and Chuuya by the arms. "Date, date, date," he chanted as he pulled them towards the door.

"Have fun telling Kunikida when he gets back on where they went," Yosano said with a laugh.

Ranpo shrugged his shoulders, "he'll get over it… Eventually." He'll never understand why Kunikida stressed over the reports not being done on time. It's not like anyone reads them after they submit them. "Those three have finally got their act together, so any work disruption is worth it."
