Work Text:

The dining room of wakafantes house is surprisingly quiet for this time of day, normally Regect and he would be screaming like a bunch of banshees and yet, there's not a sound. Not one. Odd.

Moe sits at the table in the center of the room, fiddling with a lighter and not paying much mind to her surroundings. If you were to listen very closely you might be able to hear the sound of her breathing but in reality if you were to actually try to listen you would probably ams never ending rambling. Because that's just it. There's always something louder. Something more important, well it didn't need to be more important. It just had to be louder than her. Louder then the mute girl. Figures. Like that day at the campsite. She TRIED to tell ze what had happened, but than, right at the same time, regect started freaking out about some bitch outside of the tent, and he just assumed that they were talking about the same thing. Like I said, louder than the mute girl.

But on peaceful days like this Moe had time to think about things, or so she thought until she saw regect on his way down the stairs.

God damit

As Regect walked down the flight of stairs he saw Moe looking at him while fiddling with a lighter, she wasn't lighting it she was just like, moving it in circles in her hand. “Be careful” he started to walk towards her. “We don't want you burning the house down,” he joked.

Of only he knew.

If only she could tell him.

Of course even if she could she wouldn't dare tell him or ze.

Because what would she even say to them, “oh yeah I'm also a murderous monster that killed all my friends in a huge fire I intentionally started”

Never.

All she could do right now is shrink in her chair, make herself smaller, and quieter, like she always did when she was upset.

“Tuff crowd" regect said, noticing her straight face “well I'm going to find ze so tell me if you see him okay? Okay.” He quickly ran down the stairs.

And then she was alone again, not that she cared about being alone, she enjoyed the quiet, especially considering she lives with three (sometimes four) men. But the words that Regect had said still got to her, she then relisted that she must have absent mindedly or instinctively put the lighter down when he said it. It was as if all of her memories waited until the door closed to come flooding back. Here memories weren't a ripple in the peace, they was a fucking tsunami.

At some point in the past, recent or not.

All Moe could feel was the orange flames licking her skin, her clothes were practically covered in charcoal, and she could practically feel her larynx and vocal cords burning away. The feeling was unbearable and yet her first thought was him, she needed to find him. She felt regret the moment the flames started to grow, that seed of fire that she had planted started to go from a comfortable garden to a full on infestation. She doesn't know why she did it, and yet, she did.

And then there's HIM. He was the only one who didn’t do anything. He doesn't deserve for this to happen to him. Why did he decide to come today. He shouldn't have, he didn’t deserve this.

He didn't deserve this.

HE DIDN’T DESERVE THIS.

H E D I D N T D E S E R V E T H I S!?

Did he?

Present day

“MOE!” she snapped out of it immediately and looked up to see ze looking at her with concern in his eyes.

“honkhonkhonk (you didn't have to yell at me y’know)”

“I tried to get your attention with a quieter tone, but you seemed to be pretty spaced out” he responded. He squinted his eyes. “are you oka-”

“ZE!” A booming voice called out “There you are! I've been looking for you.”

And the fighting begins.

Louder than the mute girl.

Always louder than the mute girl.

As they fought it was as if they forgot Moe exists. And with that she disappeared, became invisible. because as good as clowns are at standing out, they are just as good at blending in. So she did just that. She blends in, and goes for a walk.

For as long as moe can remember she enjoyed long walks. But no matter how far she walked, it never seemed far enough for her. It would never be far enough. Because maybe, if it was, she would be able to outrun her problems. Maybe if she ran far enough and fast enough she would. It might not work. But she might as well try. Because if she goes back then she will continue to be overlooked.

Because it's easy to be louder than the mute girl.
