Chapter 1: The Arrival

Chapter Text

It was a long journey for the three—Albert James Moriarty, William James Moriarty and Louis James Moriarty.

Even the carriage driver was getting tired—and understandably, so were the horses. Even the whips wouldn't work on them.

They were in a forest now—the wine stash was over. Everyone was starving. The three never thought of dinner while on mission. Now they did.

A broken tree blocked the whole road now.

It was nearing dusk, civilisation was nowhere near, and everyone was miserable.

Seeing the broken tree, the driver stopped the carriage, letting himself and the horses take a breath.

Albert: "How far are we?"

Driver: "Very, Sir Moriarty! I just—I just can't seem to find an end to this forest and—and now there's a broken tree in front. The horses need water. So do I." The driver said this while heaving for breath.

William (to Albert, opening the curtains and seeing the broken tree): "The Blackwoods had a major festival coming on. The road shouldn't be this...empty. Maybe the others took a different route because of the tree. But why did we not know of this?"

Louis: "Anyway, I think we should get some fresh air in here before we go again. It's been hours we've been here."

Albert and William nod, and step out of the carriage along with Louis. The three went over the plan to kill the man of the house—Jonathan Blackwood. He had an iron industry where the workers were underpaid, safety and climatic and environmental condition were totally hazardous, and it was just a suicide mission for whoever worked there. About a 100 people died in his hands. He needed to be dealt with.

After they were done, they look at the mess of the tree.

Albert: "It looks like it's been years since anyone came here."

Louis: "Since the other guests could have done so, let's also take another route from here. Go back and go another way."

William: "Good idea."

William walks up to the driver, and tells him about the change of route. The horses neigh miserably, their pain understandable even they were actual animals.

William, Louis and Albert eventually step in the carriage, and the driver starts the vehicle.

It was evening when they finally saw a few huts. Seeing the grass, the horses abruptly ran uncontrollably fast. There were iron nails covering the ground. Some lightly stabbed into their hooves, and many punctured the wheels. They heard multiple noises outside.

Voice #1: "Nice carriage they have here~"

Voice #2: "I wonder whose it is."

Voice #3: "MORE PEOPLE HERE?!"

Voice #4: "Oh hush, they can have supplies! It's a fancy carriage after all."

William heard a familiar voice within the crowd.

Voice #5: "That—that's the Moriarty carriage! Come on, get them out! We can't die in here, the sun is going down!"

Hearing the last five words brought a sense of urgency to some people. They were shocked and couldn't believe that yet another noble had stepped into this land.

Eventually, the driver opened the door. William's eyes widened as he saw whose voice it was.
