Work Text:
Earth was less of a prison now, after all this time. Starscream had seen civilizations rise and fall, been revered as a god by countless humans; Guided humanity through technological advancements they never would have dreamed up with their feeble organic minds; Stomped out regimes that did little more than give him a headache.
And he had Skyfire all throughout it.
The first years had been rough. Low energon meant pleasure flights were rare. They’d relied more and more on the kids and their unique adaption to easily process biofuel to get supplies. They’d even chosen to have more after completing a trine for Galecrest because it meant more hands around. Stopping at six would have made sense, but there really wasn’t much to do on Earth for the longest time.
Which is why he had to keep a spreadsheet now. He had just added another entry, and was already awaiting Galecrest’s angry com once he got the update alert, and was browsing the other entries, trying to remember if there was anything to update.
Kids K-12 through K-16 were 5 vorns, he should probably ask them if they wanted names now. Starscream looked up from his data pad and watched them buzz around the lab. Five at once was definitely new and he was forever glad his current pregnancy was so far another singleton.
He hoped to keep this sparkling under wraps with the humans for as long as possible. Starscream mourned the loss of the days they were treated like gods by the human populace and having a plentiful amount of children to equally worship was just an accepted part of the humans lives. Now Skyfire just received crude mail speculating how his spike hadn’t fallen off.
Starscream had laughed. Skyfire had laughed, but it was still a bothersome human fixation. His husband was currently studying notes he’d written on a white board, just as handsome as ever.
“I was thinking blue next.”
“Hmm?” Skyfire looked up from his work.
Starscream wigged his claws. “Blue nails. As a pop of colour.” He was going for a black and silver look lately, but blue would compliment his cockpit very well.
“That’ll look wonderful darling.”
K-14 flew and landed on his head. “I think you should do purple.”
“No, yellow!” Called K-15 from somewhere although Starscream was too busy pulling K-14 off him to know where. None of the other thousand or so kids had ever gotten as big as Galecrest but rarely were they tiny either, so they were too heavy to be perching on his head at this age.
Skyfire approached and took K-14 from him before throwing him back up in the air and watching him take off to join a brother. They were a Gestalt from birth, and it was only a matter of time before they figured out how to combine.
His husband sat down on the couch beside him. “Updating the spreadsheet again?”
“Of course. Nobody has died recently, correct?” Those entries were marked in black. Red if the offlining was particularly stupid. D-69 trying to surf an active volcano couldn’t have come from his CNA.
“Not that I know of. Although have you heard from E-99 recently?”
“We’ll flag her entry.” Starscream scrolled up and marked her name in blue. “How about Jetfire and Jetstorm?”
“In Russia last I heard.”
“Hmm. Close enough to visit.”
By the time Galecrest’s displeased com had come through, Starscream was curled up in Skyfire’s lap still reading off entries.
::You two are unbelievable. I should contact Cybertron myself to ask about birth control for you two::
Starscream snickered, and from Skyfire’s expression Galecrest had opened the comlink to him too.
::Get off dad’s dick, mom. Its embarrassing::
“Remember when he couldn’t talk back?” Skyfire mused, pulling Starscream closer.
“I don’t think there was ever a time like that.” Starscream leaned up and took Skyfire in a kiss.
