Summary
Charlie is a Bio-engineered experiment - or Expie - who was given to Amanda Myers as a service animal, for her work in the study of Extraterrestrial-Biology for inhabitable planets across the Milky Way. Life remained steady for them on the farm she inherited on Earth, until she is approved for a Junior analyst position on Pluto Station; the same station that not only is the origin of Charlie's existence, but also orbits the Gray Planet - the same one Amanda has been studying for years - and she brings him along for the journey. From the moment they landed, Charlie would be forcibly doomed to the near impossible assignment: Reclaim a missing piece of important technology, deep in the cavern systems of the Gray Planet, that had mistakenly been sent down with the mountains of trash sent before it. Charlie is merely one of thousands of Expies and other offshoot species sent down for this hopeless effort. Like those before him, he is not expected to survive.
Three variables make him unlike those before:
The first variable is that he's been thoroughly trained by Amanda to survive the most dire situations with the few resources he may find himself with.
The second variable is a reason to return.
