Chapter 1: The Apple and the Assassin

Chapter Text

Author's Notes:

Hi everyone! I'm back, the summer program is still ongoing so the update schedule is gonna be wonky.

My top priority right now is to get the next chapter of The Golden Purge, so watch out for that.

This story is going to be a semi serious, semi crack fic. The basis for this story is replacing Gojo with Isaac Newton and have him interpret the limitless with his own perspective.

Other stories are still ongoing and nothing has been abandoned.

Anyways, that's enough from me.

The Apple and the Assassin

The sky above the star plasma corridors was silent. Wind ruffled blades of grass, conducting a dance among the trees.

Sir Isaac Newton stood motionless in front of the exit.

Across from him stood Toji Fushiguro. The Heavenly Restriction user stared at the sorcerer, his breathing perfectly steady, his heart rate utterly undisturbed. The ghost of the Zenin clan flicked the blood from the blade of the Inverted Spear of Heaven, the cursed tool was humming as it repelled cursed energy in the air.

"You're supposed to be dead," Toji stated, his voice flat, devoid of malice. It was simply a declaration.

Newton did not answer. His chest was still. The intricate, spiraling pathways of his cursed energy, a network of theoretical vectors and localized spatial coordinates, were entirely gone. The electrical impulses of his nervous system had ceased. Toji watched for another moment, confirming the total cessation of biological and supernatural function, before turning away. The bounty on the Star Plasma Vessel and Isaac Newton was secured and he wanted to go gambling.

Then, he heard it.

Laughter.

It wasn't the frantic, desperate coughing of a dying man. It was quiet. And annoyingly, unspeakably smug.

"...Intriguing."

Toji stopped. The hairs on the back of his neck stood on end. His body was screaming at him to move, to strike, to run. He turned slowly, his grip tightening on the hilt of his weapon.

The mortal lacerations across Newton's chest were violently pulling themselves together. The rapid regeneration of tissue was driven by a sudden influx of positive energy, forcing cellular mitosis into overdrive and stitching severed arteries back together with flawless accuracy.

His eyes, previously hidden behind narrow spectacles, seemed brighter than before. It was as though the universe itself had suddenly become accessible to him.

"I yet draw breath," Newton said softly, wiping a smear of crimson from his cheek, "And still my heart doth beat."

Toji frowned, shifting his stance into a low crouch. "Reverse curse technique?"

"Tis so," he confirmed. "When thou first pierced my throat, I cast aside any thought of counterblow."

"I bent my soul and will unto the convergence of cursed energy! While cursed energy may reinforce flesh yet ne'er restore it, thus one must turn the dark energy onto itself, till from its clash come pure sustenance!" he yelled in a manic tone.

Toji watched as the young adult in front of him continued to talk. 'Something's off… He's rambling on and on. Is he high?'

"A feat far easier spoken than wrought. In fact, till this dire hour mastery lay beyond my grasp! On death's gate alone did enlightenment take place!" Newton continued. "And here lies thy ruin, for the fact that thou didst not sever my head, nor didst thou bear that accursed tool when thou first struckest my crown!"

Newton raised one finger. The air around it began to warp, bending light through an invisible prism of dense gravitational force. "For centuries have passed, yet humanity has understood only three. Three fundamental truths that govern the physical realm. The principles of inertia, of acceleration, of action and reaction."

Space twisted around his extended digit, a localized vacuum forming in the Star Corridor.

"Three what?" Toji demanded, though his instincts were already commanding his muscles to brace for an impact .

Newton smiled. A chilling smile. "The Laws of Motion."

Toji stared, his narrowed eyes tracking the distortion of the air. "There are only three."

Newton's smile widened, revealing teeth stained with a fading trace of his own blood. "Not from henceforth!"

"As three describe how bodies move," Newton declared. "The fourth governeth the heavens themselves."

Cursed energy erupted from his body, in a mathematically perfect sphere of expanding pressure.

"I do not command gravity. I command the law that rendereth it inevitable."

Newton adjusted his spectacles, his blue eyes locking onto the assassin.

"Count thyself honored, Master Fushiguro." Newton said softly.

A pulse shook the corridor, fracturing the ancient stone pillars.

"As thou shalt be the first to witness the Fourth Law!"

Toji lunged. He didn't hesitate. He was a creature of pure physical prowess, moving at a speed that broke the sound barrier, the Inverted Spear of Heaven thrusting forward to sever Newton's technique at the source.

Newton simply stepped aside.

It wasn't because he was faster than Toji. No human alive was faster than a completed Heavenly Restriction. He stepped aside because he already knew exactly where Toji would be. He had calculated the trajectory, the momentum, the air resistance, and the exact kinetic output of Toji's musculature. Every motion. Every force. Every vector.

Toji stumbled, his blade slicing through empty space. He felt it immediately: a sickening sensation he had buried decades ago, crawling up from his stomach to his throat.

For the first time in years, Toji felt fear.

Newton looked down at the assassin, his eyes reflecting not anger, but a profound, academic pity. From this moment on, the constraints of scholasticism could not bind him. The limitations of a mortal mind could not contain him. He had dismantled light with a prism; he had bound the cosmos with geometry.

Newton willed his body to rise, outstretching his limbs as he levitated effortlessly into the air.

'Pardon thee, fair Amanai. Anger in me hath found no place, nor doth any grievance,' he thought, looking down at the world below him. 'Even toward thee, my dearest companion, Suguru.'

'The physical realm, for once, has fully revealed itself to me.' At this moment, he could only experience the pure, unadulterated bliss of enlightenment.

Throughout his life, Newton had been forced to inquire, to laboriously search and decode the principles governing heaven and earth alike. But now? The world was so lustrous, so breathtakingly bright. It felt as though reality itself had chosen him as its ultimate champion.

'Throughout the reigns of space and the constraints of time... I alone am truly sublime.'

"Thousands may have witnessed the fall," Newton said, his voice echoing with authority as a sphere of highly condensed, negative-mass gathered on his left as an equally expanded, positive-mass gathered on his right.

"But I alone inquired why."

Isaac prepared his final technique. "Thou art of the house of Zenin, art thou not? Hence springeth thy intimate knowledge of my cursed craft. Even amongst my disciples, this principle shall remain unknown. Few know of it, and fewer can even comprehend it. Centuries shall pass ere the world comprehendeth what I am about to demonstrate."

Toji watched the development and attached a chain to his anti-cursed technique tool.

"Tis the fourth law of motion."

Toji tightened his grip on the chain.

"And what law is that?"

Newton's smile widened.

"The Law of Universal Gravitation."

On his right hand, the expanding sphere of positive mass glowed a brilliant crimson, a localized repulsive field that pushed space itself away. On his left hand, the highly condensed negative mass collapsed into a deep azure, pulling the surrounding air into a screaming vacuum.

"Take the base negative parameters of the sapphire. Multiply them by their own inversion to birth a positive vector crimson. Reconcile the contradiction" he commanded.

Toji didn't wait for him to finish the lecture. With a violent snap of his wrist, he whipped the Chain of a Thousand Miles forward. The links unfurled instantly, extending indefinitely through the air . It carried the Inverted Spear of Heaven straight toward Newton's throat. It was a perfect, blinding strike meant to nullify the technique before it could even merge.

But Newton didn't even blink. He simply brought his hands together, intertwining his fingers.

Every Cursed Technique reveals itself differently to every mind that grasps its depths. Newton is no exception to this.

"Behold, the nameless horror made manifest, Imaginary Art: The Apple of knowledge.

The red and blue spheres smashed into one another, concluding their own existence to construct something of new origin, flawless distortion of pitch-black space materialized between Newton's palms. It hung motionless, yet a low, sub-bass frequency vibrated through the earth, making the very foundations of the Star Corridor shudder.

The Inverted Spear of Heaven, flying at hypersonic speeds, struck the outer boundary of the void.

The anti-cursed tool did not disrupt it. For how could a tool nullify a technique when the very fabric of space coordinates hosting it had ceased to exist? The chain groaned, its links twisting and snapping as the kinetic output of Toji's throw was swallowed whole by the singularity.

Toji's eyes widened. It's not just cursed energy. It's a localized singularity. The tool can't nullify the technique if the space around it is literally collapsing!

"Flee, Master Fushiguro," Newton advised softly, his blue eyes cold and detached as he pointed the black sphere forward. "For gravity is a cruel mistress. It spares neither the scholar nor the beast."

The black sphere shot forward.

The sphere erased the corridor: pillars, floorboards, and the walls of the star plasma center vanished into nothingness, compressed into an infinitely small point before being violently spit out as dust.

Toji, utilizing every ounce of potential of his Heavenly Restriction, let go of the chain and leapt backward. His legs shattered the stone beneath him as he propelled his body out of the direct line of fire, his mind racing to calculate a counterattack. But as he looked back through the dust, the horizon behind him was completely gone. A semi-circular trench had been carved through half the building.

And floating above the ruin, completely untouched by the dirt and blood of the battlefield, was Sir Isaac Newton.

Adjusting his narrow spectacles with a blood-stained finger, he looked down into the crater at the assassin.

"Tell me, Toji Fushiguro," Newton called out, his voice carrying effortlessly across the desolate landscape. "Does the apple deviate toward the earth... or does the earth rise to meet the apple?"
