Honest, Calla wasn’t even sure when she realised that magic was a thing. Like, yeah if she whispered and wiggled her fingers, course there was a fire. That was just how people worked, right? Probably magic, but who cares.
It wasn’t until Lacey’s lighter broke and Calla lit her cigarette, with the fire hands, that she realised that wasn’t totally normal. See, Lacey was the one who said that it was magic. ‘Parently anyone could do magic, if you went to school for it, but Calla didn’t think she did? Maybe she did as a kid.
Still. Fire hands were useful in the kitchen, or when it snowed and their alleyway got cold. They could huddle close with their cigarettes, Lacey’s flask, and Calla’s chips, and set a little fire.
