Chapter Text

Abigail looked at the building her friend was showing her;

"So, this is really the place Lee?" she checked, looking to the person she'd met when she visited The Triangle a few weeks ago and became quick friends with;

"You seen any other buildings with a big C&A logo on them?" Lee snarked, grinning, and Abby chuckled;

"I suppose not, oh, but before I get the video running, have you decided on your name yet, I don't want to deadname you somewhere anyone can see it" she noted,

"Still figuring it out, stick with Lee for now, people will probably think it's short for Leah or something" the taller girl suggested,

"Maybe that could be your new name, Leah?" the shorter offered, and her friend shook her head;

"Nah, too close to Leeroy, I want something new, that doesn't connect back to that person" Lee shrugged

"Fair, uh, how much are you okay with me sharing on the video, should I leave out the homelessness?" Abby checked

"Yeah, not a bad idea, we'll just say I found it by chance instead, you ready to get it rolling?" Lee twirled her finger as she spoke, and her friend nodded, and started up the film, looking into the camera;

"Hey everyone, it's me, back with a new episode of Abbys Urban Adventures! Today I have a friend of mine with me that found this place a few years ago, and thought it would be a good place to check out again, say hello to Lee!" she turned the camera to the other girl, who shot a peace sign as she grinned;

"Sup?" she smiled, causing Abby to roll her eyes at her nonchalantness, and focus the camera infront of her, as the pair entered the building, narrating as they walked through the abandoned halls.

After about half an hour of exploring, Lee lead Abby to the room she had wanted to show her in the first place, and the older girl gasped in amazement as she swung the camera around the old office;

"It really is like they just left one day and never came back" she thought aloud, looking at the desks, some still holding personal affects on them, nothing super notable, no pictures or named items, but enough to get an idea of some of the people, as she paused at two desks that were next to each other, and felt Lee craning over her shoulder to look herself;

"Whaddaya wanna bet these two were partners?" she suggested, pointing to the king and queen chess pieces on each desk

"I wouldn't be surprised, looks like they had an interest in insects too" Abby added, looking at the taxidermy butterflies and beetles on the walls of each cubicle, before turning away; "Anyway, wasn't there something you thought would be interesting here?" she changed the subject

"I'm glad you asked, right this way!" Lee proclaimed with showmanship, causing her friend to chuckle, as she followed her to another desk at the side of the room, which had a dusty computer on it, and what looked like a virtual reality headset placed next to it

"Oh wow, wasn't this place abandoned before VR was really a thing?" she noted, placing down the camera to get a better look at the device

"Pretty sure, last time I was here I tried this thing on, didn't show anything, but there was some kinda weird light, and my head felt fuzzy for a moment, so it definitely does something, and I'm sure there was also... bingo!" She pulled a second headset out from where it was stored in a cupboard, out of immediate notice "So, whaddaya say Abbs, wanna see if they do anything different this time?" she suggested with a smirk, and the shorter girl laughed;

"Why not, that's what exploring's all about!" she agreed, taking the offered headset, and, after making sure both she and Lee were in view of the camera, they gave a simultaneous countdown, and put the headsets on in unison.

The world went white.

Notes:

Just to make it clear, the two will act differently to this chapter when they arrive in the circus, because of the shock of everything, but I tried to write at least Abigail with the personality Pomni had once she was more comfortable, and for Lee/Daisy, I’m trying to keep that snark and teasing nature of Jax, but wrapped up with someone who’s not so much of a jerk and actually feels comfortable showing her emotions around others. I hope that makes sense!
