Chapter Text
Ah, high school. The place where teenage lore starts, and the drama capital of all things.
The new and terrifying place I was forced in. Away from all my old friends just beaches I took some stupid exam.
"I swear I'm not going to make any friends here." I mumbled to myself as I approached th building.
I climbed up the stairs, already tired, but giddy about everything despite so. I took in my surroundings, finding my new classmates outside our new classroom. I can see that they're lined up, so I take my place by the back. There's this girl behind me whom I start talking to. Huh, maybe I would make friends here. What a surprise.
I talk to another person sooner than I expect. The guys seated next to me. No, I don't remember their names yet. Probably won't bother to.
The rest of the day was a blur to me. Boring and neutral unlike all my first days before this point. Unsurprisingly, I'm missing everyone already.
The next week was, give or take, the same as the last; a blur of lessons and introductions and whatnot.
But then something caught my attention. A few classmates of mine (I don't remember who or how many of them) singing a song from a... certain Greek myth musical I geeked out on... I will not further elaborate and expose myself. The nerds know what I'm taking about... Ehem. So, anyways, I was thinking of a way to approach them one day, when the perfect opportunity came up.
"Can someone please give me an example of a story where character versus nature is present?" Our English teacher's voice echoed through the quiet room. Here it is. My chance to at least make friends I'm interested in. I raised my hand.
"Yes?"
"An example is present in the Odyssey when Odysseus was trying to get home, but a storm stopped him."
I saw a head snap my way, most likely the people I'm put for. She approached me after class, taking the vacant seat behind me. I was met with a bright grin when she called for my attention.
"So you know Epic?" Ah, straight to the point I see. I return with a polite smile, nodding. "A fan, yes." She smiled again, cheery and wide.
I think I might start to like it here.
