S-t-e-a-l-e-r of your sleep (sleep tight, chagiya~)

Summary:

His sly, gorgeous fox eyes turned into half moons as he whispered with a smile in his voice: “Go fuck yourself, Park Sunghoon. I'd really like to see how well you’d sleep if you had to share a bed with a huge, uncontrollable creature that spreads its limbs in all directions..."
Or: Sunoo is a light sleeper who just wants to get enough sleep, and Sunghoon is a restless sleeper who constantly steals his sleep time (without even realizing it).

Hi! This is my first time posting something here. This fic is inspired by my drawing of sunsun (which I came up with when I was looking for references to draw them sleeping). When I was drawing, I liked it so much that I couldn't resist and decided to unleash my bad desire for writing a story based on it.
Here it is, please enjoy and give possible feedback, it is so precious for me!
P.s. English is not my first language, but I was struggling really hard to make this sound worthy and being pleasant for reading, so please don't judge harshly.
Enjoy!

Work Text:

Sleep is important. For all of us. "You should get enough hours of healthy sleep to keep your body strong," as all the doctors say. Sunoo thinks so too. However, achieving a solid eight hours of sleep seems absolutely unreal, not only because of their freaking exhausting idol schedule—which usually consumes all their time—but also because of his cherished yet infuriating boyfriend. Sunoo has no clue how someone can be this annoying even in their sleep. The (frustrating) fact that Sunghoon can fall asleep in mere seconds is a phenomenon that deserves study. At the same time, it feels so unfair, because for Sunoo, it usually takes at least 15 to 40 minutes of peaceful lying in bed. Peaceful—there’s the key word.
As a restless sleeper, Sunghoon always becomes Sunoo's final boss (assuming he can conquer the fucking schedule and stay awake) in his quest for those precious calm moments in bed. Apart from his lovely boyfriend's ability to drift off as soon as his head touches the pillow (or any other surface), this mf completely disconnects from reality (honestly, sometimes Sunoo wonders if he was ever connected to it at all), making waking him up completely impossible. To make matters worse for Sunoo's attempts to rest, Sunghoon starts tossing and turning, flinging his long limbs onto anything—or anyone—within reach.
As mentioned earlier, this usually resembles a real fight (just like in those stupid ass games Jake and Ni-Ki often play together). Today was no exception. As soon as Sunoo reaches the bed, Sunghoon, as if on cue, throws his leg across Sunoo’s body. After great effort and an annoyed groan, Sunoo (somehow) manages to remove it, only to have his boyfriend’s hand nearly hit his nose. But as someone who taught where Sunghoon had studied (not particularly successful, in Sunoo's immodest opinion) he gracefully dodges and grabs Sunghoon's large, unruly hand, intertwining their fingers and placing the tangle on his stomach. It's worth mentioning that this temporarily immobilizes Sunghoon's upper body—but unfortunately, that doesn’t encompass everything (it's pitty that Sunghoon's body wasn't just the upper part). Before Sunoo can even count to twenty-five sheep, Sunghoon starts twisting and turning again, trying to escape the blanket while firmly kicking both the blanket and his tired boyfriend.
Sunoo rolls his eyes as if he wants to see the back of his head and lets out a heavy sigh. "Good night, chagiya, sleep tight," he says in a barely audible voice laced with growing annoyance, imitating his boyfriend’s last words before his departs from the shores of consciousness. To be honest, the only thing that’s felt tight for the last hour was the grip Sunoo wishes he could have on Sunghoon's throat. He jumps up and sits on the bed, letting go of Sunghoon's hand and cursing under his breath (not that it matters; Sunghoon wouldn’t wake up even if Sunoo screamed every curse from the top of his lungs right into his ear, and Sunoo himself knew it better than anyone), giving his boyfriend a sidelong glance.
Sunghoon, still sleeping soundly, is a complete mess in every possible way: his bed t-shirt has ridden up, revealing part of his collarbone and stomach, while his pants have slipped down a bit. His thick eyebrows meet slightly in the middle with each measured breath. His half-wet hair is messily spread out on the pillow, sticking up in all directions like a bird's nest. His right hand is under his head while his left hand fidgets restlessly after Sunoo lets go of it. Additionally, his left knee constantly pokes Sunoo’s thigh and pushes the blanket closer to the edge of the bed.
Seeing this every day, Sunoo can hardly imagine how this man manages to maintain even a fraction of his idol image. Yet there was something ridiculously charming about this view of Sunghoon. In these moments, he appears so genuine and effortlessly cute—just like a little kid.
Sunoo couldn't help but let out a soft chuckle despite his frustration. Sunghoon looked utterly ridiculous, yet undeniably adorable in his sleep-induced chaos. It was a sight he had grown accustomed to over the years of their relationship, and while it often drove him to the brink of madness, it also warmed his heart. For a moment, Sunoo even allowed himself to admire the unwavering calmness of his beloved (which he had almost forgotten about) boyfriend, as a gentle, loving smile touched his lips. He took his phone from the bedside table and snapped a photo, still smiling stupidly at the screen before placing the picture in a special folder that he occasionally opened to cheer himself up (and which he planned to use for blackmail one day). However, this short-lived idyll was mercilessly interrupted by a loud, unrefined snore that escaped from Sunghoon's mouth.
"Good heaven", Sunoo muttered, snorting and grabbing the nearly fallen long-suffering blanket. Sunghoon then began to hum something (something reminiscent of the cringe aura-farming funk music from the silly TikToks he'd been making recently) and started to twitch again. He glanced at the clock—2:32 AM. If he didn’t get some sleep soon, he’d giving the energy of a frightening zombie (at best a werewolf) instead of a mysterious vampire during the tomorrow photoshoot.
Completely annoyed, Sunoo hissed, trying to interrupt his nighttime vocal practice and lull him to sleep. He had already started trying the YouTube Shorts hack that suggested whistling to make someone stop snoring, persistently playing the melody of their new B-side. It didn’t seem to work, though.
With a resigned sigh, Sunoo shuffled back under the covers, trying to find a comfortable position that would shield him from Sunghoon’s restless limbs. He nudged Sunghoon's leg — which had found its way to his again —away gently, hoping to create a safe distance between them, but it was like trying to contain a whirlwind (a clingy, snorting, and misbehaving whirlwind). Sunghoon's leg returned with a vengeance, this time pushing against Sunoo's side like a playful puppy asking for attention. “You must be kidding,” Sunoo muttered under his breath, half-amused and half-annoyed. He contemplated the idea of moving to the couch, but the thought of leaving Sunghoon felt wrong. He needed to create a strategy, a way to get his peaceful slumber (very optimistic of him) without sacrificing the warmth of Sunghoon’s presence beside him.
“Okay, new plan”, — he whispered to himself, — “does he think I`m going to let him win?” Sunoo smirked determined to outsmart his own sleep-stealer. Sunoo carefully maneuvered until he was lying on his side, facing Sunghoon. He gently wrapped an arm around Sunghoon's waist, pulling him closer and putting his arm behind his back, making Sunghoon hug him back while simultaneously trying to establish some sort of control over the situation. Running his fingers through Sunghoon's ruffled hair and gently stroking his comically puffed cheeks and sharp cheekbones with his fingertips, he tried to calm him down. You could say that it almost worked because Sunghoon instinctively relaxed in Sunoo's arms and even leaned in for his touch, making contented mumbling sounds. Sunoo felt a wave of relief wash over him as he tightened his grip ever so slightly. Maybe this would finally save him after all.
But just as he began to feel hopeful, Sunghoon shifted again, this time rolling onto his back and flinging an arm across Sunoo’s face as if it were a pillow (or a punching bag) and started humming the annoying melody again. Sunoo groaned.
"For God's sake, behave yourself, Park Sunghoon," he said, his tone firm and decisive. "I'm serious—get a grip on yourself, or I'll get a grip on your neck, and then—" The humming interrupted him. "Oh, is that so? Don't test me, do you hear?” — he spoke each word clearly, persistently and comically pointing his index finger at an absolutly unsuspecting Sunghoon, as if he were a mischievous child in kindergarten and Sunoo was his teacher, — or I'll post this picture of you on Weverse tomorrow!!!" Sunghoon fidgeted as if he wanted to say something in response, even sitting up slightly, which made Sunoo wary, and then he sneezed very loudly (in terms of decibels, somewhere between a jackhammer and a nuclear explosion), shook his head, as dogs usually do when they get wet, and droped his head down on the pillow without batting an eye. Sunoo tried his best to maintain a stern expression (after he was startled by this sound wave) despite the fact that the scene was hilarious, he was too tired to fully enjoy it, but a hint of a smile (much like the one that appears on a cat owner's face when they catch their pet sneezing) of amusement still creased his face as he said: "You see, I'm telling the truth!"
Surprisingly, this threat seemed to work, and Sunghoon finally calmed down, his chest beginning to rise and fall normally. Sunoo could hardly believe it, but realizing that those few seconds of shock could cost him hours of sleep, he quickly but carefully pulled the blanket over himself and lay on his side, closing his eyes.
Needless to say, he didn’t even care that their bed now resembled a meme, with one person taking up 90% of the space and the other just 10%. He didn’t give a fuck about the fact that half of his body was almost hanging off the edge of the bed. The only thing that mattered was that, for now, his boyfriend was lying quietly and motionless.
Haggard from a long day at work and half a night spent trying to calm his bedmate, Sunoo finally fell asleep. After a while, he vaguely felt a long arm wrapped around his waist and pulled him closer. But the touch no longer irritated or woke him; instead, it comforted him, making feel at home. He fell into an even deeper sleep, enveloped in the warmth of their shared space, breathing in the familiar scent of shampoo and listening to Sunghoon's steady breathing, Sunoo couldn’t shake the feeling that maybe—just maybe—this was exactly where he was meant to be.
Just as he felt himself slipping into deep sleep, Sunghoon’s foot found its way to his thigh again, nudging him playfully while his nose pressed against the curve of Sunoo's neck, teasingly tickling the sensitive skin. “Chagiya,” Sunoo mumbled groggily, “you’re really going to be the death of me".

“Ooh, I slept so well,” Sunghoon said with a big yawn, opening his eyes and meeting his boyfriend's profile, — "I wish I could meet you in the next life, so that even after decades, I could wake up like this," – Sunghoon said dreamily, in an unexpected burst of morning tenderness, closing his eyes again and smiling sleepily, — "Did you sleep well, Sunoo-ya~?", Sunoo turned to him, meeting his gaze with the most tender look. His sly, gorgeous fox eyes turned into half moons as he whispered with a smile in his voice: “Go fuck yourself, Park Sunghoon.” His boyfriend looked taken aback.
“I’d really like to see how well you’d sleep if you had to share a bed with a huge, uncontrollable creature that spreads its limbs in all directions, snoring, wheezing, and mumbling at the same time.”
There was a pause of a few seconds, and Sunoo even started to feel nervous that he had been too hasty. However, before he could soften the punishment for the sleepy stealer, Sunghoon frowned and replied, "Wait, who are you talking about? Did you sleep with someone else instead of here?" This time it was Sunoo's turn to being taken aback, and after giving himself just a couple of seconds to make sure he wasn't kidding, which, by the way, was unmistakably indicated by the furrowed eyebrows and the most bewildered look from under them, he sputtered: "Don't you dare meet me next life. Or I promise, I'll make sure you'll regret it."
