    The Virginia-Class nuclear cruiser USS Nevada goes astray on what should be a routine patrol in 1985, and ends up in the Gulf of Mexico in what is, to their best determinations, the year 1501. As they undertake delicate negotiations to secure an alliance with the Mexica, Seaman First Class August Anders is undertaking negotiations of his own, one of many sailors on the ship who has found a local girl, and love.
