Freaks don't belong in glass houses

Summary:

Freaks don't belong in glass houses. It just makes them more freaky.

Or,

Sal comforts Travis after a nightmare and Travis is embarassed.

Notes:

Short so I could go to sleep with two things in my series instead of one <3

Work Text:

Travis sat on a comfortable bed. Sweat dripped down his forehead, and he had tears dripping down from his eyes. Somebody was holding him. The person smells so familiar. Like his mom. But it can't be. His mom is dead missing.

Then, blue hair swept into his eyes. Wait a minute.

Travis froze as he suddenly remembered where he was. He wasn't at home, he wasn't 5-years-old with his mother cuddling him after a nightmare. He was at the house of-

Oh.

Oh fuck.

Sally Face.

He was in Sally Face's arms. He had slept at Sally Face's house. Sal had found him wandering the park aimlessly after his father told him he needed to stay out and give pamphlets or he'd get a nasty beating, but Sal didn't like seeing him so cold.

Travis wanted to move. But he couldn't. His breath sped up slightly, which made Sal realize that Travis was awake. Sal looked down at Travis, and wiped tears from his cheeks.

"You don't have to say anything, Travis. I know you're embarassed. It's okay to cry."

Travis clenched his mouth, shaking his head.

"Can you use your words? Please? I wish to speak with you."

Travis sniffled. He shook his head again.

"Oh? Well... why not?"

Travis sighed softly. He didn't want to tell Sal. But he could tell Sal wasn't planning to just let him leave. The only way out of this awkward situation is by telling the truth.

"I... if... if I speak... I think I'll start sobbing, and if I star...start sobbing then I don't... I don't think I'll... I'll... ever stop."

Travis could barely get through his stupid words. He was correct about the tears. So stupid. Why is he so stupid?

"Travis. Hey.. it's okay."

Travis realized that he had been hyperventilating. He can't take this. He feels a prick in his nose. A sting. His hand shakes. He doesn't want this. He hates this. Hates this to shit.

"I..."

Travis can't stop the tears from forming. He sniffles as tears drip down his face. Sal just grabs a tissue and gives it to Travis, who buries his face into it. Sal puts his hand into Travis's hair and caresses his hair.

"It's okay... you're okay."

Travis shakes his head. He's so embarassed. Getting into the same bed as another man? What a sin. He'd better repent the second he leaves and let his father beat him to the point that he forgets this memory at all.
